Volume 1- Chapter 3: The Adventure Begins!

Sorry for the rushed Chapter 3, I Hope you'd like it, I promise to make chapter 4 better, that's why I need a few days. Enjoy!

==============================================================================================================

I woke up feeling good about myself and thinking of starting the day with a few relaxing stretches and a bit of exercise. I took out the rock hard Barley Bread I had and ate it in silence and took a swig of water, I then went to the near fountain and replenished my canteen with water.

Since it’s my second day inside the game I should get an early start going back to Bartholomew’s and level up some of my skills and stats, but first I need to restock on food since I only have 8 Barley Bread left.

I went to the market place and bought a few more barley bread (has 30 coppers) and decided to jog back to the shop to slightly increase my stat and work up a sweat before work. It took Gilgamesh half an hour to get to the Blacksmith’s Shop and had a few stat increases.

* Stamina increased by 3 points!

* Strength increased by 1 point!

* Agility increased by 1 point!

When I arrived in front of the shop it was still closed, I considered waking up Bartholomew by shouting but I’d get mauled later so I considered visiting Lilith for a few minutes since it’s still early so I went to the Wizards guild a few blocks from here. It was a short walk and I found the guild open and entered, I greeted the old lady at the desk and proceeded upstairs to Lilith’s identification room.

“Hey Lilith, good morning!” I greeted her with a broad smile that changed to a gaping O when I saw what was in front of me. She was soaked in some white substance and was splayed on the floor wriggling trying to get up.

oh god, it looks so much like….no… I shouldn’t think of it!

“Lilith! Do you need help?! What happened?! No, don’t answer that.” I was beet red from looking at her and tried yanking her to stand.

I even saw a little bit of the forbidden fruit * Gulp*

“ Eek! Gilgamesh! What are you doing here?!” She was shouting like there was a molester on her and was trying to stand whoever it was in vain.

Well if someone would come inside the room and saw this they would think I was the molester…

“I was trying to make a simple alchemy potion to practice my alchemy but when you came in I lost focus and dropped a few liquid ether that was necessary and it exploded on me as you can see.” She was stammering and trying to wipe away the sticky white substance. (lol)

“Oh well at least you didn’t hurt yourself much, I was just passing by and saying hello, if you’d like to chat sometime just holler at me by the smith shop!”

“Jeez! You could have just whispered me!” She was pouting and trying to clean the liquid with a mop, looking comical wearing a long purple mage’s gown that hugged every inch of her nice bode.

“I could have but I wouldn’t see this good stuff now would I?” I was laughing lightly and was looking around and considered trying to learn the identification skill from her so I approached here about this.

“Lilith, could you teach me basic identification? I’d like to learn it if you could teach me so I wouldn’t have to come back every time I go on an adventure and it would be useful on some quests. Of course I’d compensate you if I get enough money.” I asked here with sincerity and was wondering if she’d accept this proposition, since she was already intermediate and was a licensed identificator I guessed that she could teach me if she wanted.

“Hmm okay Gilgamesh I’ll teach you, but I would like 20% of your profit for 2 dungeons you clear. I will come with you when you try to go on a dungeon so that you won’t die easily and I can help you out when you are in a pinch! As long as you won’t tell anyone what happened today!” She blurted this with a blushed expression and was hurrying behind the counter.

She’s cute, hope I could get a girlfriend like her soon.

“Okay Deal! Thanks for helping me out, now should we start?” I went towards the counter and was expecting to do something to get the skill.

“Take this small book and sword , read the book till you understand on how to identify and when you’re confident enough to identify the sword come back here.”

Triing!

You Received: Tips on Identification for Beginners!

It is a book on the basics and fundamentals of identification. Read it to familiarize yourself on the general classifications of items and the different branches on item effects.

You Received: Unknown Sword.

I took the seat near the windows and started reading the small book, it was an amazingly detailed book that contained the general list of items and effects that you could find on each item and how to classify the rareness of an item based on its sheen, glow, and certain appendages on the items. I didn’t realize it that I spent an hour reading it till a system notice broke my concentration.

Triing!

You completed the book: Tips on Identification for Beginners

Wisdom increased by 1 point!

Intelligence increased by 2 points!

I smiled from the stats that was given from just reading the small book, I figured I should visit the library one of this days to increase some more stats for mana, I went back to Lilith who was entertaining a customer and waited till the transaction was finished.

“Lilith I am ready to identify the sword, watch! Identify!” I took the sword in my hand and touched the hilt of the sword and was greeted with the ring of a success.

Trring!

You have successfully identified: Theatre Play Sword!

Durability: 5/5 Attack: 1-3

A blunt sword that is used in theatrical plays on stage, not much for killing but you can use it to slap your foes.

Restriction: None.

Trring!

You have learnt Identification Level 1(Basic)

“Good! You got the gist of it, now I can return this sword to the actor.” She beamed with pride at seeing me finish identifying on my first try.

“Thanks for the book, here it is. I got to get back to the forge, thanks again for the skill Lilith you rock!” I gave the small pocketbook back and waved goodbye and dashed back to the forge where I knew Bartholomew was waiting with his hammer. *shiver*

“Gilgamesh get your arse inside this minute, stop slacking boy! We got a lot of stuff to do today!” He was shouting even though I was still a few blocks away when he saw me. I had to run as fast as I could just to keep him from throwing his hammer at me.

“Sorry boss, I went to Lilith to greet her and I kind of lost track of time to learn identification…” I told him sheepishly and started walking to where the gloves and apron are to start the day ahead.

“Year right you were just flirting with her to get inside her pants.” He was smirking at me while shoving me inside to rush in.

The days went by fast having to work on the blacksmith shop till the afternoon and practice archery, swords and twin daggers in the evening. At the 14th day working in the forges I had finally reached the stage where I can learn blacksmithing with intermediate level on repair.

Triing!

Repairing skill leveled up!

Reached Repairing Level 1: 0.00 %( Intermediate) – Can identify higher grades of items and can now learn basic blacksmithing.

By constantly repairing and sharpening as well as working on the fires I had acquired a lot of stat bonuses as well as upgrades on my skills. I also learnt the endurance stat and learnt the sustenance stat. I had an increase of 10 vitality, 11 strength, 16 agility and 30 stamina as well as an additional 5% fire resistance just from the daily Smithing for 2 weeks.

Triing!

New Stat Learnt! Endurance – reduces physical damage inflicted by the enemy, and even increases the user’s life by a small amount

New Stat learnt! Sustenance

You are likely to use less stamina in action. You are prohibited from distributing stat bonus points to this stat.

From the nightly training sessions I had learnt the basic sword skill, knife skill, archery as well accumulating several stats: 13 strength, 10 agility, 10 vitality, 20 stamina, and a new stat called Fighting spirit.

So I had a status window looking like this:

Status WindowCharacter: GilgameshAlignment: NeutralLevel 1Class: NoneTitle: NoneFame: NoneHealth: 300Mana: 140Stamina: 65+50Fighting Spirit: 10Strength: 42+15Agility: 40+5Sustenance: 5Charisma: 5Wisdom: 6Intellect: 7+5Endurance: 5Vitality: 30Attack: 15-19Defense: 8Fire Resistance: 6%Earth Resistance: 0%Air Resistance: 0%Water Resistance: 0%-Due to your race being infused with Blood Elf Magic you gain additional stats when you level/age. Str, Dex, Int + 5

-Due to the Darfellan ancestry you gain Sta, Charisma and Str every time you level. Str+ 5,Cha+5 Stam+ 50

I was amazed how much stats I had amassed from playing for 2 weeks non-stop in-game, it really helps that its only 2 hrs in RL where its 8hrs in game for rest so I was pretty much optimizing my time. That way I went to Bartholomew to teach me how to make some weapons and armor.

“Hey Bartholomew~ your apprentice wants to learn blacksmithing, can you teach me please?” I was asking him like an eager kid waiting for his lollipop.

“Finally eh? Well suit up and heat some iron there and let’s start making your first sword.” He indicated some ores on the side and we started working on melting and purifying the ores.

“Okay put the iron on the mold and wait for it to harden a bit and cool it, reheat and hammer it to a desired shape and cool and repeat.” He demonstrated where to hit, told me how long each kind of ore is to be heated and cooled and left me to my sword. A few hours of hammering and heating and cooling and finally I had that distinct sound.

“Bartholomew I’m finish, take a look at my work!” I hollered for him to come and see what I had made and was smiling as I told him I also got a new skill called handicraft.

“That’s a very important skill in making better crafts as well as increasing your damage to a certain point, be sure to practice more.” He was happy of what I had done and let me go for the day and let me rest, I whispered Lilith about the events of the past week and how I know blacksmithing skill now.

“That’s great Gilgamesh; maybe you can make me a new staff soon! By the way, try and focus on finishing the basic training in the training hall for this last 2 weeks so we can be prepared to go find a dungeon when you can leave the city.” She was telling me about certain bonuses when you complete the basic training and where there are more advancement after you complete it and a reward of a new weapon.

“Okay I will, thanks Lilith. I will go tell Bartholomew I’ll focus on the training hall for a few weeks and I’ll look for a good place we can raid soon.” I said my goodbyes to Lilith and went back to the Blacksmith shop and told Bartholomew that I would be staying in the training hall for a while and to call me when he needs help.

“I’ll be missing a few hands but it’s better that you’d get prepared for your first adventure, be sure to come back and make your new weapons here after your dungeon. Here is your pay for the last time with a little extra.” He looked a bit sad and took a few coins out of his pocket, he gave me 20 Silver and 10 copper which made my total savings to 2gold and 70 silver which was not bad for 2 weeks.

I went back to the Training hall and took out my new sword and started with basic slashes while warming up to advanced sword styles in the Organization 9 swords division, starting with Fencing to Bushido styles. I took out my Dagger after 2 hours of sword play and started on single styled stabs and slashes till I had reached dual wielding styles in doble eskrima. Sweat was pouring in buckets but I was happy for moving my body, it felt natural to me from years of military training.

I spent the last 2 weeks of my stay in Morata in the training hall honing my in game fighting skills till it was on par or more with my real life capabilities. I stilled visit the blacksmith shop to practice my blacksmith skills and help out Bartholomew.

It was on the last day of my stay in the city that I got the confirmation from the training instructor that I had finish my basic training and had several stats increase as well as fame.

I had a total of 9 additional strength including the completion of the basic training as well as 12 agility, 14 vitality, 10 stamina, 5 endurance and 11 fighting spirit points including the fame and additional life points.

“Status Window!” I wanted to see how much I had trained myself for 4 weeks of blood and sweat and was contented by what I saw.

Status WindowCharacter: GilgameshAlignment: NeutralLevel 1Class: NoneTitle: NoneFame: 20Health: 640Mana: 140Stamina: 65+50Fighting Spirit: 21Strength: 51+15Agility: 52+5Sustenance: 5Charisma: 5Wisdom: 6Intellect: 7+5Endurance: 10Vitality: 44Attack: 27-29Defense: 18Fire Resistance: 6%Earth Resistance: 0%Air Resistance: 0%Water Resistance: 0%-Due to your race being infused with Blood Elf Magic you gain additional stats when you level/age. “Gilgamesh, as you have completed the basic training you can choose a weapon you are proficient in to be given to you.” The instructor was piling weapons and told me to choose a weapon.

“Instructor I would like a knife that would accompany my dagger here so I can dual wield.” I told him while picking up the knife and identified it.

“Identify!”

Triing!

Requirement:

STR 20+

DEX 15+

It was a good knife, I thanked the instructor and was preparing to leave but I stopped when I saw on my peripheral vision that somebody was purposefully walking to me so I turned and waited for the person to reach me.

“Excuse me sir, but I saw that you completed the basic training program and liked to ask if you would like to accompany me in a dungeon I have found. By the way I am called Rex, I am a level 22 Warrior, and so what would you say?” I seized him up if he could be capable of defending himself, I didn’t need any deadweight when I’m out and about. He looked strong and capable of handling himself, he was about 5ft 11, he was muscular and had a strong presence. I decided to ask more about this dungeon and asked if I could tag a friend along.

“Call me Gilgamesh, I wonder if I could take my friend along, she is a wizard and would only observer us till we can’t handle the fights anymore, but I would like to ask first what is the location and name of this dungeon and the type of monsters we are facing if you have the information.”

“Okay Gilgamesh, it’s called the Frost Gnomes Dungeon, it’s a 4 leveled underground labyrinth that has monsters ranging from 10-99. We could take it slow in the nearby field till you can handle the dungeon.”

“Sounds alright to me, let me whisper my friend and we can meet up tomorrow?”

“Alright, tomorrow then by the north gate, be sure to check the Light Tower tonight for the buffs and the other statues; tell your friend to do the same and while we’re at it add me as a friend.”

We exchanged information and said our farewells and after I whispered Lilith about the Dungeon that I was going to and wondered if she wanted to come along.

“Okay Gilgamesh, lets meet up later by the Light Tower and make sure to prepare for the trip tomorrow!”

“Okay Lilith, see you later.”

I went to the nearest market and bought some herbs and bandages as well as some more Barley Bread and jogged to the Tower of Light where I saw Lilith was waiting in a cute Red Robe that only hanged above her legs. I approached her and gave her a big smile.

“Hey Lilith nice dress! Let’s go nearer to the tower, I like the lights coming out at night, it’s a great view.” I took her hand and dragged her to my favorite spot underneath a pine tree that was beside the pond and we waited for the light show to appear.

It was like a date, we ate good food that she prepared shared stories and just laid down and waited for the morning to come.

Morning came and we finished our preparation and walked to the north gate where Rex was waiting for us, he only had a bag on his back and 2 swords on his sides. He had a big grin and was coming to greet us.

“Good morning love birds! I guessed you had a good night’s rest, for the beautiful ladies information my name is Rex, 24 and single.” He said this with a frivolous bow and a wink to Lilith which made her red and shy towards my back.

“Okay Rex I’m still level 1 so let’s get out and hunt a few animals before heading to that dungeon of yours. I’ve been itching to kill something the entire month I was here.” I told him as I was walking towards a fox that I saw near the bushes, I took out my bow and aimed at the little red Fox and shoot.

You had dealth 20 damage to the enemy.

The fox growled and raced towards me not afraid to meet his death, I took out my 2 daggers and activated my Blood Manipulation mastery. The fox skidded to a halt when it saw me with a swirling red aura dashing to him. It tried to run but I had a high agility and made short work on it by dashing beside it and stabbed it on the back of its cranium while sending a few stabs on the stomach with my Blood elf Dagger.

Blood Manipulation Aura is active, damage done will increase hp regeneration.

Critical hit

Damage dealt to fox 20!

Damage dealt to fox 20!

Damage dealt to fox 20!

Fox is killed.

Basic Level upgraded to level 2

I was stunned, the fox died too easily! It took only 2-3 hits from a level 1 as myself and I even had my life restored from the stabs I dealt to it. I even gained a level from 1 monster fight, it got me excited and my brain was rushing on the possibilities I could do now. I had a feral smile on my face when I looked back on my companions who were gaping at what they saw.

They quickly ran to my side and looked at the corpse of the fox and back at me several times.

“Dude how the hell did you do that?! What class are you? You just shot an arrow and ran so fast to clash with a fox at level 1! You even killed it with a few hits when a party needs to kill a fox on level 1!” Rex was spouting like crazy on what he saw, it was beyond human capabilities from a level 1 individual who just got out of the city and didn’t even try to kill a rabbit.

Lilith was knitting her brows together trying to make sense of it all, “Gil, what skill was that? The one where you were engulfed in a red light, it looked evil and sinister.” She was shooting accusing eyes on me that told me to better cough up or feel her wrath.

“Okay you know that dagger that I let you identify right? Well it’s for my race and I’m a Blood Elf, the first kind. I was granted Blood Manipulation magic. So I can siphon blood from myself or my enemies to use.” I awkwardly explained my race and skill benefits and told them to keep it a secret.

“Damn it feels like your cheating with those benefits, hell it IS cheating.” Rex was rolling his eyes and was walking to the direction we need to go to reach the dungeon.

“Sorry Rex, Lilith, I didn’t mean to keep it from you guys, I thought I was rather common now since its late in the game.” I gave a sheepish grin and said a few more sorry statements..

“Oh well, what’s done is done let’s just get to that gnomes so I can release some anger.” Lilith was fuming a bit since here she was suffering in her first months in the game and there was Gilgamesh who skipped all those and had a very rare class.

The three went deeper in cold forest and killed a few more wolves and foxes, there were a few near death encounters from frost kobolds which almost killed Rex and Gilgamesh if it were not from Lilith who made short work with the trolls with her magic since she was a few levels higher.

They arrived at a medium looking cave that was surrounded with players and gnomes riding a few wolves and some walking gnomes holding sticks whacking some players around.

“Well, were here. Let’s start with helping those two kids crying running towards us.” I said as I was drawing my sword to practice with.

“Well just sit here and wait for you to finish, you’re already too strong for all this mobs.” Rex was snorting and sat on a boulder while Lilith was trying to make a fire with a fireball.

These guys look like they are on a picnic while those people in the cave are having it hard.

“What a start for an adventure.” I was shaking my head and had a grin on my face while charging to the goblins that were harassing the kids.

To be Continued-
