John Doe was excited. The reason for his excitement was an announcement about the latest virtual reality game called Endless online. The reason why it caught his attention was the fact that it had 99% realism. The one percent that wasn't real was because of the pain nullification and the introduction of magic. That's right, it was a medieval fantasy game, where dungeons, dragons and magic were prevalent everywhere. The beta testers had described the game as 'revolutionary' and 'fuckin epic.'
It was the talk of the classroom and with his friends blabbering non-stop about it, there was no way in hell he didn't know about the game. It was one such school day when it actually caught his attention.
"Did you see the latest news about infinity online? There will be hidden classes AND you can create your own skills!" One of his friends told John and he immediately perked up.
'Now that actually sounds interesting.'
"I might actually get it." His friends suddenly looked at him in shock. "What?"
"Well its just that you are so engrossed in your martial arts and anime that we weren't expecting you to actually buy it..." One of his friends, Hajime, replied. "Oh come on I am not THAT engrossed in them."
"Dude one of the prettiest girls in the ENTIRE YEAR invited you to Netflix and chill but you declined because you had some goddamn judo training..." Hajime brought up an example with a jealous face. That girl's name was Lucy Nakiri and many regarded her as a Goddess in the school. She and John had been friends since secondary school had started and it was rumoured that she had some feelings for him. Although John liked to browse the internet, he only used it to watch anime but he didn't browse that part of the web so he was pretty inexperienced in those forms of human emotion.

"But there was an important competition coming up and I didn't want to watch a film at the time she called me for 'Netflix and chill." All those present facepalmed... "Man you are so dense." Hajime replied after some time... John was still looking confused by the time the bell rang.
Once he got home, John was thinking about how much the game would cost him and he looked up how much the gaming helmet for infinity online cost and thankfully it was only £299, much less than other consoles. After weeks of begging his parents, they finally let him buy it in return that his grades do not drop. 'Just in time,' he thought to himself, 'the release date is tomorrow.'
The next day, the short awaited package arrived. Scrambling to open it, John was presented with a helmet akin to fighter pilot helmet, with a giant visor covering most of his face. After reading the instructions on how to hook the thing up, John proceeded to lie down on his bed, and entered the game.
