Donning the brown cloak, Kira walked outside the adventurer's guild. Then he did what the standard light novel character would do: He visited the local library. He had read many a light novel where the protagonist receives extremely useful information about the world and one or two where the guy actually became a historian.
Entering the library, Kira saw lots and lots of books. They were scattered around all over the place. Kira was in shock; this wasn't a library, this was a mess! "Hello young adventurer. What brings you to my library?" An aged voice asked him. Looking at the voice, Kira saw that an old librarian sat surrounded by dusty books. His white hair trailed over many of them, or were they cobwebs? They were so thin and white it was hard to distinguish between the two. He wore an eye patch and one of his arms was made out of metal.
"It has been a long time since someone of your age showed an interest in books. Most of them are busy with swinging swords or casting basic magic." The old man looked Kira up and down. "You're different. You have the air of a swordsman but your eyes show intelligence higher than the average brute." Kira was startled by the old man's analysis of him; who was this old man to see through him in one look? "I wish to learn the history of the world and about magic." Kira told the guy with a straight face.
Suddenly, the guy laughed.
"AHAHAHAHAHA!" Startled, Kira took a step back; he almost regretted stepping into the library. After about a minute, the old librarian stopped laughing. "Sorry it's just that it has been a long time since someone said those exact same words. They ended up killing a rogue dragon by himself. You remind me of him."
*Ding* +1 intimacy with the old librarian. Another annoying notification. Surprised at the rude interruption of the notification, Kira made a mental note to find a way to turn them off later. The old man then asked him a question: "Do you want to be like him youngster?" Kira thought and replied "No. I want to be stronger than him."
Nodding, the old man then proceeded to tell Kira about himself. "I was once like you; young and full of energy. I myself was only level one when my master found me. After he and I started training together, I realised that wherever you go, there is always something interesting. That little piece of rock could be a relic from an ancient civilization that almost perished by the hand of a sealed necromancer. That sword that you hold could be one day a national treasure. That bird that you bought could transform from a tiny chick to a little girl or a giant bird great for pulling wagons. I have one lesson to teach you. Learn and explore. That is the way of a true man! I once trained a baby dragon to sit on my head. I dare you to do the same."
After hearing the hairy, scary, librarian's monologue, Kira was shocked. The world truly was a vast place and he had much to learn. "I wish to gain knowledge first. I do not want to die because I ate some poisonous berries or I got lost in labyrinth. Please allow me to read from your library."
"Good answer" the old man replied."My name Hades. I have explored the world trying to get to the source of true magic but you are still too inexperienced for that magic. Instead you are only allowed to read... These books." In a flash, Hades disappeared and reappeared holding a crate full of dusty books. "Sorry if they're a bit old." Dropping the crate down, Hades went and switched the light on. Only then did Kira see just how large the small library actually was. "Its bigger on the inside..." He muttered. "Thank you for your patronage Master Hades!" He then dived straight into the book.
Five hours later...

'Oh shit!' Kira realised he didn't look at the time, his sanitary level nor his notifications! Quickly looking into his inventory, he realised he had no bread left! 'Ah fuck this.' Kira checked his notifications. Turns out he had gained a new skill: Speed reading. It was intermediate level 2. 'I guess that five hours spent here was not that wasteful.' He had had coughing fits everytime he opened a book, they were that dusty. He reflected on what he learned:

This world is called Sera. There are multiple races living in the massive continent called Ede but the Ede is divided into several countries. He was currently in in the Fiore. This is where humans, elves, pixies, dwarfs and beast people lived. The people here lived in towns, villages and cities. It was ruled by a council of seven, which were sometimes called the Trinity seven. However, in this world there is no technology so it resembles the medieval period, albeit with more magic. Apparently only ten percent of the (NPC) population could use magic.
Most of the world is covered in forests. Many types of wild beast live in them that are aggressive towards people. That is why people learn to fight and use magic. Killing a monster grants a person some exp, so the higher level the monster, the larger amount of exp you get. There were some people who used think that demi-humans as inferior, until a dragon princess, born from light and darkness, decreed that all races were equal.
Nowadays, there was some integration but many of each respective race kept to their own countries. The dragons, however, are not sociable and live all around the world. There were cases, however, where a dragon bonded with a person and followed them until death. The most notable was a half human half griffon demi-human that raised a dragon.
According to one thick book, mana was part of the body, and every living being had different amounts of them. Many doctors and wizards tried to find the organ that contained mana or 'dantan,' as they called it, but to no avail. Magic could do anyhting, from destroying countries to resurrecting people; it was amazing. When a person runs out of mana, they start to lose health, with some mages dying because they over-estimated themselves. Mana was also described as the life-force of all life, flowing throught the body. Every part of the body that mana flowing through it magic could be cast from it.

Ignoring the message, Kira looked around. He still had a thin book left to read. Gambling on he intermediate speed reading, he started reading.

SLAM. Kira dropped the book. *Ding* His body slumped over. It then disappeared in a flash of particles and light. Kira read on the screen:
