05: Right Action (King Ayandel I)

News from the border were as simple as a brick, if he may say so.

Their spy had gathered some alarming information – the demon lord of the City of the White Serpent's Tail was getting active. It could only mean one thing for Ayandel knows the history of his county and the world well enough to understand that the despised current demon lord had gathered enough influence within the dead lands to prepare for an invasion on the neighbouring lands.

He remembered so many tales of old in which a greedy and evil demon lord would ruin lands and let all the hell loose – Matherani, Filryandes, Ontioro... All the demon lords always wanted more wars, more blood on their filthy hands, more humans killed...

And, you see, his beloved Great Green Plains happened to be the only neighbour of the lands of those damned creatures of darkness that know nothing but to inflict suffering and pain onto others. That was also the main reason why they even had a spy there in the first place – his father, king Freyind the Sixth, on his deathbed had kept on repeating the importance of always knowing what the demons where up to.

Support creative writers by reading their stories on Royal Road, not stolen versions.

And it looked like his father, as always, had been right; the times of peace had come to end; all that Ayandel could do was to prevent the impending war of going out of hand – for that he will need to gather allies from the other lands as soon as possible.

But for now King Ayandel needed to act on the information provided by their spy before it was too late, before his beloved country was burned down by those tainted creatures, he needed to get rid of the demon lord before it got rid of him and reduced his country to barren lands.

But no human could be compared to a demon in the terms of strength and magic prowess.

So the solution was an easy one.

- Sonoth, my friend, - he said to the court magician, his best friend and most trusted companion, - it seems that we are in a need of a hero. -
