The Beach - Chapter 3

The Meteor we're going to head to is the one the king pointed out on our first day in this world, but before we head there we are decided we are going to take some time to relax. Obviously all the the hard work we put in during our 3 month training session has taken its toll and frankly i'm tired, sure I want to be a Hero but I also dont want to die from exhaustion.

"Heh" I let out a little scoff at my thoughts and turn to our campfire. One of my other classmates suggested to the king that we head to a beach for our little pre-meteor diving expedition, he thankfully accepted and now we're heading over to whichever beach the white-cloaks decide to bring us to. For now though we're camped out in the forest for the night as we have been riding for the better part of the day.

Seeing as I havent really gotten to know my other classmates, besides Sarah of course, I figured this would be a good time to get to know them. Seeing all the other male students sitting in one corner and talking quitely, I get up from next to Sarah, who is currently sleeping and head over to see what they are talking about. Nearing in I hear the sound of excited whispering and listen in while grabbing a seat and sitting down.

"So, what's the plan guys?" One them, whos name I recall as 'Dylan' says.

"I dunno, nobody really packed for this 'out of world experience'" another one named 'Chris' remarks.

I cut in, "What are you guys talking about?"

"Obviously whether or not we're going to be able to see the girls in bikini's" Dylan whispers with a lecherous smile.

I stare at him with a deadpan expression.

"C'mon It'll be fun!" Chris says.

"B-but that's an invasion of privacy!" I exclaim.

"We practically have to do it!, see if we dont do it now we wont get a chance for forever, these whitecloaks are going to ride us training until we collapse from exhaustion and eventually die!"

I Look at both of them with suspicion "I'm in, but only as long as we dont get caught" I hesitantly reply.

"You caught us at just the right time then, we were just going to start planning out how to do it."

All the other guys lean in at this and we start discussing our plan. During this discussion the sun fully dipped below the horizon and the moon had risen all the way to the middle of the sky. You know what they say, time flies having 'fun'. Not long after this we all collapse into sleep and await sunrise yet again.

---

The next day, when the sun had just risen, the white-cloaks called out and woke us all up, poking and prodding the reluctant. Then when everyone was awake, we started packing up our camp and putting it all in our carriages. Not long after we finnaly set out and now we're finnaly almost at the beach.

"I can smell the ocean" Dylan exclaims to everyone.

I start audibly sniffing the air, ive always lived towards the middle of the mainland so I've never actually smelt the ocean or played in its waters. I'm told the ocean is a majestic place by the others and the white-cloaks. Sarah, Dylan, Chris, and some of the others glance at my sniffing but then try to glance out the back of the carriage again.

My butt aches, the carriage is really uncomfortable, nothing like the cars from our modern day. You can quite litterally feel every single pebble on the road, and they arent even smooth paved roads! and the weight from all the gear we brought along is making our little side-trip take even longer, it was decided that we were going to be heading straight to the Labyrinth Meteor from the beach as it was closer than the capital.

One of the white-cloaks suddenly calls out, "We have arrived!".

Everyone exclaims in joy and starts waking up the sleeping inhabitants, While Dylan and Chris pop up next to me and whisper "Remember the plan." I nod at them and start gathering up our beach gear with the others.

We follow behind the white-cloak who seems to know where he's going and eventually reach the beach.

"Wow" I gasp in surprise, the others make similar sounds. Its beautiful, there really isnt any other way to explain it, the pristine blue waters that seem to stretch on forever are a sharp cobalt contrast to the pale blue sky. I step out onto the sands and take off my boots. The sand feels softer than silk sheets and is pleasantly warm.

Everyone else quickly runs out and starts to set up our tents and chairs. This is going to be a fun single day.

Soon enough the sun starts to fall to the horizon and me, Dylan, Chris and some of the other boys get togther. Everyone else was heading back and the girls specifically were about to start changing out of their beach clothes. The boys all grin to eachother while I smile uneasily. I really do feel like we're going to get caught. Luckily I've prepared my own emergency escape plan incase it looks like we're going to get caught.

We sneakily follow around 25 meters behind the girls as they walk back into the forest behind the beach and begin changing, I count them and suddenly notice that there are only around 3 of the 7 girls in our group. I quickly glance back behind us and sure enough around another 10 Meters back I can spot people foraging their way through the dense trees. My face pales and I quickly think up an excuse to run away. "u-uh guys im going to go uh take a piss, yeah" saying this in a small whisper I quickly sprint away and dive behind a pair of dense bushes about 10 Meters away.

I watch as the girl that were behind us quickly make their way to the watching oglers, when they reach, they silently pull out their staves and start... y'know what I dont even want to think about what happened to them. I quickly sprint back to the main camp.

The next morning I wake up to see the other boys all glaring at me with their bruised sour faces, I give them an awkward smile and turn back to the carriage, its time to depart from this heaven and begin our work.

After another day of travel we have finnaly arrived at the Labyrinth Meteor, the white-cloaks tell us this one contains monsters at around level 15~. We should be able to handle it as most of us are at, above, or almost at 20, He also tells us that low level monsters are unable to use any form of magic and can only fight using physical mean, While saying this he has a look of such abject disgust that I also feel digust for no reason whatsoever. Ill have to ask someone about that later.

The Meteor itself is sort of what you would expect, its a large crater with a giant boulder that looks to be a fifth of a square mile wide, I ask how they prevented the shockwave from when it landed from destroying anything else near, and a white-cloak tells me that the Labyrinth Magic inside the Meteors immediately slows the fall of the Meteor's when they are about to land. Putting this off to a universal law called 'Random Magic Stuff', I also ask, "Are you white-cloaks coming with us?"

"Sadly, although we have some strength, it isn't enough to challenge the Labyrinth along with you all" One of them reply.

After all the training you made us do, you guys arent even that strong!?

I sigh and walk away.

Another one of the white-cloaks gives us a brief explanation of what to expect when we enter.

"So as soon as you go in through the entrance, a countdown timer should appear at the top of your peripheral vision. The countdown shows how long it's going to be until the Meteor breaks down and releases the monsters within. Another thing, when you kill the monsters, make sure to cut into the center of its being and remove it's 'Monster Core', these cores can be used to enhance and make special equipment. It also sells for a hefty sum. The types of monster's you can probably expect from these low level dungeons are usually either low-level elementals or some type of animalistic amalgam such as a Snake Headed Lion, or a Double Headed Demon Dog, out of these both, the animalistic monsters are probably more difficult to fight, they also require you to harvest cores from their dead bodies while the elementals just dissapear when vansquished and drop their cores on the ground"

After making sure we all processed this information, he let us enter.
