The morning came after each representative woke up from the best night's sleep they have had in a long time. They left each of their respective apartments and walked outside to see the world had changed again.
"What the hell happened here?" Marchen asked as they met in an open square where there were a few plants, but mostly just concrete.
"Did they move us last night?" Gnolt asked.
"No, I think they just made all of this," Pault replied.
"How long since we went to sleep?" Charine asked, trying to figure out how long it has been.
"About 12 hours since we finished dinner," Melissa replied.
"Alright, seriously though, did they change the entire surface of this area?" Marchen asked.
"It must be, this is incredible," Alana replied.
Indeed they were in an open 'courtyard' of some sort. Looking up made you feel very small. There were now 5 buildings, including the main one that the original processing had made. The 5 buildings made in sort of a grid pattern were all connected way above the watching group.
The scale of the building and design is monumental.
The original 'Mega Base' Structure was still the largest, but about halfway up the building a large platform came out and hovered there. The platform had many belts going in and out, bridges were going between the buildings. Hyper Tubes meet up on the underside of the platform, where they split off in different directions.
The pioneers were nowhere to be seen at the time. But the amount of construction was intimidating. They were supposed to be on the water, but the ground was completely covered in the same metallic Foundations that they have been using. The sides of the buildings were covered in so much glass that the reflections of the other buildings and the morning sunlight caused many different colors to bounce around between them. It was an amazing sight to behold.
The space elevator had not moved, but it was so very well placed on the North Western side of the massive courtyard.
"Wow, well I don't even know what we are looking at anymore, does anyone see them?" Pault asked.
"Nalah, do you have a message spell?" High Priestess Alana asked the Shaman in training.
"Wait, Cald gave me this device...I believe it is called a radio, or a phone, or something else that she described it as." Charine said while holding a small rectangle.
"Ah, here it is...." Charine said while pushing on the screen in random-looking places. Everyone shared a glance until she held it up to her ear like a seashell.
They all listened as there was a warbling buzzing sound coming through the device. "What is that sound?" Marchen asked.
"Hello?" Caldsan's voice came through the line.
"Hello, Caldesan! This is Charine, I was wondering-" "Hey Charine!" -"Hello, Caldesan. We are here, is there anything you want to talk to us about?" Caldesan was caught off guard, recognizing an admonishing tone immediately.
"Uhhhh, what, is everyone alright?" Cald replied.
"Well we are fine, but waking up to an entirely different landscape is slightly jarring," Charine said calmly.
"Oh, well, do you like it? It was mostly me who built the parking area, and the buildings. But Gloss has been going crazy on production, I think she's already in Tier 4! We are making Stators, Motors, Encased Industrial Beams, Industrial Steel Beams, and Steel Tubes, and I know she started an entire line for Heavy Modular Frames which will take a while to make a lot...I think we were going for like 25 to 30 a minute." Caldesan said, once again talking about things that no one can understand.
"Pioneer Caldesan, we don't know what you are saying. Why is this place so different? What happened?" Alana asked.
"Did you hear that Caldesan?" Charine said to the phone.
"I'll just come to you guys. Be right there." Then Caldesan jumped off the building she was working on.
"Holy shit, there she is," Pault said while pointing nearly straight up in the air. Caldesan was free-falling towards the group and just before hitting the ground in what would be certain death, she activated a jet pack and made a perfectly soft landing.
"Nice to see everyone! Well, to answer your question Alana, I wanted to make this a courtyard or a park. Once we decided that Mega Base was going to be a complex of buildings, I knew we needed a nice area that also had our Hyper Tube Hub and other stuff. Also, the Train Station is just up over there in Building 2. And even though there are Train Tracks that go through each building. But the main Train Station for both Freight, Passengers, and Fluids will be through there." Pointing at the ramp and walkway that went towards the northeast, Building 2.
"Oh yeah, so there are the 5 main buildings, the very Northern building, or the Original Building, is Building 1 now, then in clockwise fashion is Building 2 to the NorthEast, Building 3 to the SouthEast, Building 4 to the SouthWest, and Building 5 to the NorthWest. There is also a HyperTube Terminal right over there." Caldesan pointed at a building that seemed inconspicuous at first glance.
"Okay, one thing at a time, please! What is a Hyper Tube?" Marchen asked.
"Oh yeah, so Hyper Tubes are just quick personal transit thingies, come here I will show you." Caldesan led them to the building that appears to be about 6 squares wide on the outside and 4 on the inside as they entered through doors that opened automatically.
"Okay, so watch your step around these, and read the signs before you enter, it is possible to turn around in these, but you should always be ready to go the whole distance. The hardest part to believe is that when you enter these you will be in a phased state, so you do not hit each other." Receiving blank looks Caldesan tried to elaborate.
"So what I am saying is that it is impossible to touch anyone while you are inside the tube, so don't worry about collisions, and just stay relaxed. The Hyper Tubes will spit you out, on your feet. Now if you do feel like you shouldn't be doing anything physical then there are stairways to every building, as well as elevators, but they aren't programmed yet. Also, there are a few launch pads....but you shouldn't use those ever. Stepping on launch pads without a jetpack or a flying ability is asking for at least some pain, or worse, got it?" Caldesan's rant was very informative, but it was too fast for most.
"Okay, what do you mean phased?" Pault started.
"Uh, we will talk about that at another time, Gloss is better at explaining it. Just know that you can't get hurt if 2 people are in the same tube going in different directions."
"Okay, and jumping in these...Hyper Tubes, is safe?" Melissa asked skeptically.
"Yup! We use them all the time!" Caldesan had been working for so many hours, she didn't realize that they had only been there for a couple of days. "Also stand behind this line, if you go too close they will suck you into them haha," Caldesan said with a laugh, no one else seemed to think that was funny.
Cald took her helmet off for the safety speech, and her calmness was not entirely reassuring to the group of representatives. They could sense no hostility or ill intent towards them in her earnestly excited expression, but to so casually do the things that Caldesan speaks of and does is a whole different story. There could be no guarantee that they would be able to survive without the type of strength these Pioneers have.
"Okay, it is super easy, you want to go in head first and it will just pull you to the end. Of course, I made these go underwater cause I thought it would be fun to see down there....but there is some scary stuff in that water so I covered the whole lake and built walls. The only exposed parts are where we have water extractors. But yeah don't worry nothing can touch you if you are in the Tubes! So who wants to go first?" Caldesan said, indicating one that said MAIN HUB above it. She casually pulled a coffee cup out of nothing and took a drink.
"What is the Main HUB?" Pault asked curiously.
"That is where all of our basic resources go for when we need to grab things to fill our pocket dimensions. There is also our HUB building that you guys have seen, and there are also the research stations, the awesome shop and sink, and more stuff. But yeah, I will give you guys a tour!" Cald said this with a smile and put her helmet on.
"Okay, so just run at this entrance head first!" Cald was looking at them expectantly, but no one was ready to be the first to stick their head in the hole in the wall.
"Want me to go first?" She said.
Everyone nodded.
"Okay!" Caldesan put her helmet on and sealed it. Then, with the coffee cup still in hand, she ran at the hole, and with a suction sound followed quickly by a thump as the door closed again, she was gone.
"Alright, this is intense. Who wants to go first?" Marchen said while looking around.
Nalah was worried because she was larger than the humans, but she decided to trust the Pioneer anyways. She ran and jumped headfirst, just like Caldesan, and she disappeared with a suction sound into the tube.
"Well, so be it," Pault said as he followed. One by one everyone made their way into the tube, Marchen was last.

"Alright, here goes nothing." He jumped in and immediately the tube dropped straight down, and it felt like his stomach was in his throat. The tube showed dark waters as he raced along at incredible speeds. He could see with his exceptional eyesight into the black depths of the Seas of Desolation. It was hard to believe that this incredible place was made in one so brutal.
The tube continued straight through the water, occasionally there was a glass foundation that let light in which made the tube feel weird. He had no trouble breathing in there, but he could still feel that he was moving faster. It felt as if he fell off a large cliff headfirst, and just kept falling.
Marchen tried to reach out and touch the side of the tube, but it was as if the force that was propelling him, kept his arms and legs close to his body.
Then the tube turned up into the light. He could turn and look as he wished, but the tube was traveling straight up into the air. The Tube was running along the side of Building 2 to the NorthWest. There was another tube running alongside his that branched out to go somewhere else.
As he looked up he could see the tube go underneath a walkway from this building to the hovering platform that was high enough that he could get a good view of the courtyard. The two housing buildings that had the stacked apartments were on the NorthEast side of the square. The Space Elevator to the North West. The HyperTube Terminal was in the center of the courtyard, a small rectangular building, and the tubes were all hidden. There was no tube coming in or out of it visibly, but some did go above ground and alongside some of the walkways in this concrete park. There were many types of plants, including a gorgeous purple tree that looked like a massive bush. There were other buildings and a small park with a large glass dome to the SouthWest.
Above the parking area, there was a structure that seemed to be an art sculpture or something. It was lotus shaped and had to be made of solid metal beams.
2 beams went out into each cardinal direction, and the NorthEastern direction over the top of the courtyard towards Building 2.
It was then that he reached the highest point of the tube when it began to go horizontal again, this time under a walkway looking down at the courtyard.
Now he was face to face with the ground....all the way down. Marchen gulped as he looked down. At this height, if he were to fall, there would be no question he would die. But oddly enough he felt secure in this Hyper Tube.
Then it spits him out onto his feet. He stumbled forward as the others had no doubt done.
"Okay, that was kind of crazy, there is so much to take in," Marchen said.

Marchen finished his stumble exit out of the tube and looked to see the rest of the group looking around with excited eyes. They were looking down a passageway that had massive rectangular cubes on either side with belts sticking out that Caldesan was gesturing to. There were items on some of them, but many looked empty. It was strange looking at this building because from below this looked just like a huge floating platform...but how much weight is really on here? It felt as solid as the ground and that was just one of the questions that rolled through Marchen's mind.
At the end of the 2 rows of Storage Containers, there was the HUB that they have seen before, where Nalah and Melissa had cooked the first meal. They had rebuilt it here, looking to the south. The room everyone was currently standing in was another Transport HUB with service to not only the ground but to each of the 5 buildings, and more places that seemed to not be connected yet. The signs above them were all labeled except for the quiet tubes that were off.
"Welcome to the HUB of HUBs! This is where we have all of our resources for more buildings, our sleeping area, some research stations, and other basic stuff that is fun to have! We ended up going pretty hard last night, and we got a lot done. I bet within 2 days we will have a baseline of Nuclear power going. And at that point, we will be able to get the rest of the end-game materials that we will need to build infrastructure for all of the people on this continent." Caldesan said.
The night before Caldesan and Glossarai were amazed that they didn't feel tired at all. With the Smart! Foundations mod back in the day, they could build massive structures that were impossible with standard gameplay. They discussed how OP the mod was because they built a massive series of buildings that would be as large as, if not larger than most castles and cathedrals in any part of the world, in a matter of hours. It was just too easy with the amount of concrete and iron plates they had started with, Glossarai just worked on production lines, while Caldesan designed 4 more buildings and a series of train tracks and Hyper Tubes.
"Okay Cald, remember, one thing at a time please," Nalah begged of her.
"Oh yeah, no worries! I was just talking about the test that you guys wanted to try for us. You said there is a village to the SouthWest that needs help.
Well, I think we should be able to help in 2 days. We have a massive train station already and it is nearly 20 stations all set up, ready for sending and receiving resources and people. Why don't we start there and work our way around?" Cald said.
"Oh, you mean for a tour of the base that you somehow summoned into existence?" Priestess Melissa said.
Alana gave her a sharp look but then turned to look back at Caldesan to see her response.
"Oh yes, I mean we got the resources, so technically we built it, not summoned!" Caldesan replied, seemingly oblivious to the tone Melissa was using.
"Anyways, let's go to the Train Station!" Caldesan continued. They followed her a second time into another Hyper Tube, with a sign that read: Train Station.
"So, Trains...oh hey you guys probably don't know what trains are huh?" Caldesan asked calmly as if they had not just dove face first into a tube that went straight down hundreds of feet into the ground and popped out into a large room inside the new Building 2. "Well, Trains are like large...wagons that follow a set track."
Catching their breath, the group of distraught representatives that did not sign up for this much turned to hear what Caldesan had to teach about trains.
"Yeah this is a train, it's just a way for transporting resources for any sort of distance. The only downsides are the fixed track that must be placed first. But they can transport a ridiculous amount of goods and resources."
There were 20 stations, and each one had spots for Freight and Fluids.
"So this is where everything will be unloaded and loaded. Both floors above and below are logistics centers, mostly belted up right now but not shipping anything. Oh and this first train station is the people train!" And the modded passenger trains were indeed there, 10 cars long, with 2 engines. "Haven't thought of a name yet for it," Cald said contemplatively. The very next station had a train that they would use for building, as it was full of resources already.
"So we will be able to climb on this Train and it will take up as far as the tracks go?" Marchen spoke for clarification. Now that he was looking he realized that the artwork out above the courtyard was train tracks.
"Wait what is that massive curly structure out there in the yard?"
"Well to answer your first question, yeah, this track is already extended beyond the base, we will just need coordinates for the first town. Our goal will be to make a track that goes around the entire continent. Supplying resources all the time. But the first time we take the track to whatever the place is that we will be rebuilding, we will take a building train which is pretty much just filled with resources and stuff." Cald said.
"And the Structure you speak of is what is known as a Turbine Junction, it allows Trains to go in any direction as long as they take the correct path."
Glossarai's voice from behind them came. "Good morning everyone, I hope you slept well." It was always strange listening to Gloss, as her voice was quiet but still carried far.
"Yeah the apartments are fit for royalty, it is rather surprising," Pault said to Glossarai, knowing that she seemed to be the more level-headed or at least, the more logical of the pioneering duo.
"Good, I am glad you like it, now has Caldesan told you what our plans for the next days are?" Gloss asked the group.
"I was getting there Gloss...." Cald protested.
"Sure you were. So we were thinking that since Heavy Modular frame production is pretty much finished, we would start on oil, and oil products, followed by computers and such. Also, we have made a lot of construction materials, and storage for them, so we can have a near limitless supply of everything needed in just a few days." Gloss said.
"Don't forget about Motors, rotors, and all that stuff," Cald said.
"Okay, let's back up, what is Oil used for?" Gnolt asked, wondering how the disgusting tar-like substance could be of any use.
"A bunch of stuff, but mainly rubber and plastic. Then we can use those to make many more things, including computers, supercomputers, and everything that is needed to make those things. It just adds up honestly." Glossarai said.
"Oh and we get polyester from oil too, so we can make fabrics out of that, not dyed or anything, but it will be good. You said that most people have nothing after the war right? So they will need this as well as other stuff." Cald said.
Out of the blue Pault Freeman asked, "How are your buildings made out of glass? Shouldn't they break?"
"Well, technically it's made out of limestone, refined into concrete, but just assembled in such a way as to be clear if that makes sense," Caldesan said.
"What is concrete?" Gnolt asked.
"A mixture of limestone that makes it easy to harden into structures, but since 3D printing became a thing, we can change how it is used with our building guns. It gets broken down into smaller parts and rebuilt as we have programmed the guns to do so." Glossarai said with a more in-depth description.
"Also, it doesn't matter if there are windows or walls, because everything is never going to move unless it is destroyed or removed by us." Caldesan continued.
"I have no idea what that means, but is that part of why everything you build seems to hold itself where it is?" Marchen asked.
"Yeah, but let's go over the phasing of materials later, I will teach you guys all about it, but let us keep talking plans. It is very easy to get distracted while going forward with all the stuff we plan to make." Glossarai switched into planning mode, and everyone paid attention again.
"In 2 days, we will be able to head out with 2 full trains of resources, and one with 2 passenger carriages, and resources. They will be 12 cars long so 2 engines will be fine. I need to get coordinates for this town, what is it called by the way?" Gloss asked.
"IdleFrost, it is to the SouthWest of here at the base of the GrayDented Mountains. It was a forest town that had a prosperous smithy because of the mithril, iron, and orichalcum deposits that were at the base. But they too were affected by the storms and magical calamities that were set off during the war. They now have one building standing and are rather desperate for help rebuilding as no trees there are usable. Also, their water supply is ruined, which is pretty standard for most places on this continent." Marchen explained.
"It was a town of around three thousand, with a coming and going population of adventurers. A crafting village that would mostly trade for its resources, but most of the population mined or crafted with metal, leather, or wood. It is a gateway into the mountains where there are several dungeons and large monster spawning grounds. So your goal would be to help rebuild for them, I know they have started already." Marchen continued.
"How did only one building survive?" Gloss asked while Caldesan was thinking about video games.
"There were some landslides and the Town hall is part of the mountain, it is made of pure rock. The mayor of the town is a strong earth mage but was severely injured during the war. So she hasn't been able to help rebuild just yet." Marchen continued. As he was a Panther beast-kin himself it made Gloss think that this might be a beast-kin village.
"Okay, so they need a new village! How fun! Gloss, I am designing it!" Cald said.
"We will do so together, with the help of their leaders, 'cause it is THEIR town, not ours," Glossarai said.
"That's obviously what I meant."

They completed the tour eventually as they made it through each 'department of production' as Gloss had put it. Each segment seemed to be lined up so a certain amount of each processed resource was evenly divided up to make the next tier of resources.
When they started to make it to places that had final products they noticed that some went to the main resource HUB where they could grab them, and the rest went on to other parts of the massive complex for more production.
After they finished the tour, Cald began to lay down tracks that were set on platforms above the ground. High enough so they couldn't be messed with by creatures on the ground. Glossarai continued what she was best at and finished up the production lines for Heavy Modular Frames, and began to work on Oil refining.
For the next day, Caldesand and Glossarai began to teach the group of representatives everything they could think to teach them about their technology, sciences, production, and power and answered any questions the group had. The group ended up splitting in two, and each of the members spent time with both Cald and Glossarai and were able to watch them build closely.
After that, it was time to begin Nuclear Power, and Tier 5, 6, and 7 production lines.
