Marlin POV
Marlin walked along with the snake of a man. He hated how much the man Reminded him of Sadanis that same gleeful enjoyment when others squirmed in their fear or suffering. Even after all these years he could remember his brief time with Sadanis like it was yesterday.
He was lead to a small building next to the guild and waved at his 3 friends again. Who hadn’t really gone anywhere but followed him at a distance.
Marlin realized he had far more kinship with the T’jut than Kin. Even Bron would stand up for him he knew that. Marlin cursed his luck, Someone had killed that tarrani woman in a way that implicated him. He didn’t believe that Constable for a second that he wasn’t a suspect, perhaps not officially but as long as he wasn’t one officially. Perhaps this was a way for him to gauge how bad this situation was.
“what’s your name? Or do i keep calling you constable”? Marlin asked.
The man scoffed “constable for you”, he huffed.
“Totally a suspect in his mind” Marlin thought. “So how often do you get a quadruple homicide”?
The man turned around and gave Marlin a strange look, and after a few seconds kept walking again. Marlin was lead into a simple room with a table and 2 chairs with no windows. “Seems to be universal” Marlin muttered.
”Take a seat” The constable instructed. He had parchment and a pen at the ready. An actual pen.
Marlin sat down and the constable started casting a spell. From what he could tell it was from the primal language and since this was an interrogation that must have been from the Cognication skill set. It was pretty long and seemed to be Complex.
“For the record how old are you”. The constable asked.
“Do you mean my physical age or my mental age”?
The constable looked at Marlin and soon enough, Marlin saw him make the connection.
”Ah~~ you are a traveler, no wonder your facial lines are odd still young in body, id say less then 9 years”? He asked questioningly. Marlin nodded. “Mental age please”.
“I have 48 years or so off memories” Marlin said.
“Your name”?
”Marlin”.
“No last name”?
”not that im aware of”.
“Tell me when you met Tarrani for the first time”.
Marlin made himself comfortable and tried to recall. “Id say… 2 and a half, 3 months ago? That would also be when i insulted her”
”afterwards did you have any dealings with her directly or indirectly”?
”No” Marlin flinched, he got hit by a stab in his brain. “Wtf.” He muttered until he remembered.
“Oh of course the receptionist, Daini, she’s either good friends with Tarrani or her sister? I can’t remember which, but i talked with her yesterday. When i wrote down the ‘official’ statement. Other than that i might have dealt with people who knew Tarrani but not anything that im aware of. People have been avoiding me, even got a new nickname”, Marlin grinned. “Fell tongue”.
The constable rolled his eyes. “That’s practically an insult you know”?
“The truth doesn’t bother me mister constable”. Marlin responded.
The constable scribbled down everything Marlin said, including his last words. “Diligent huh”?, that got written down as well.
”Of course, even if people don’t care about 3 honorless dying, a woman with reasonable repute was killed. Almost identical to how you insulted her”. The constable grinned. “That does implicate you, doesn’t it”?
Marlin shrugged,
“not really, i mean you should be able to tell, with all those perks you have that can tell you so much about me,that im not stupid, nor reckless in a social setting”.
Marlin leaned forward.
“To be honest, i find it insulting you are suggesting I have so little, imagination”.
Marlin continued.
“No if, and this is purely hypothetical of course. If I had wanted to kill her which i didn’t”.
Marlin grinned when he didn’t flinch pointedly looking at the constable to rub it in.
“I wouldn’t be stupid enough to do it in town. I would make it look like an accident. Like drunkenly falling face first into a river, or drag her into the forest and make it look like a tragic encounter, while simultaneously making sure i was seen in town going to bed early with my lovely girl. I most certainly ain’t stupid enough to implicate myself this way, and since the murder is an honorless act one can assume once that bridge is crossed implicating another is but a triffle”.
Marlin sat back, gauging the Constable who wrote everything down.

”im surprised you are so forward with this information, are you trying to paint a picture of the man you are”?
The constable had a wicked smile.
Marlin tilted his head. “You the type of investigator, that would ask me those questions to see if i slip up”.
The constable put his pen down and sat back and smirked, “Oh? Pray tell what you think of me”.
”Right of this moment”? Marlin asked a devilish grin played on his face.
Torren POV
“Well this gotta be good” Torren thought to himself”.
”I think you the type of guy to take food from a baby if you felt like it”. The boy said with that stupid grin.
”ow poo im the big evil constable, so un-imaginative”, Torren thought.
”I think you the type of guy who thought of, and wants to, suck his own cock and probably date dudes that look similar to you to fulfill that fetish”.
The boy continued without missing a beat, his eyes flared and smiled and he was obviously enjoying himself.
Torren felt himself go blank. “What did that little shit just say”?
”i think you are a really nice”, The boy flinched, “Aww fuck that hurts! Whos fucking idea was it to make truth magic hurt”? He Cursed.
“It was all mine”, Torren thought wickedly.
”i think you could have been a nice guy” the boy flinched again. “Not as bad” he muttered.
“You know? I think getting hit with an arrow in the head hurt less, how are you doing that, without actually causing damage”?
Torren was smiling seeing the boy hurt himself.
“I think you the type of guy who loves to see em squirm when they know they have no way out”.
”you love finding out the truth because you know it’s almost always dirty”.
“Im considered a suspect not because of what i said or did but because of what i am, how i was born”
Torren’s smile turned into a frown. The boy kept going, saying some rather uncomfortable statements too close to home for comfort.
“That fucking shit is testing me! Trying to read me”.
He looked the boy in the eyes, the Darkness residing behind that ominous icy blue, There was purpose to his insults, the boy was testing him and his magic, he hadn’t bothered looking at the boys background and now that Torren did, he was rather surprised to see a second mind to the boys perception, not only that but He possessed something similar to his own A body language perk.
Torren found himself fuming. It was more refined than his. Impeccable eddies and form. The body language perk made an entire skill set ‘insight’ moot for most circumstances.
what ensued next was frustration building higher and higher for Torren, he tried everything, to implicate the boys parents, to implicate his girl and o how Torren regretted, asking what he had been doing last night.
(this spoiler is completely optional and contains explicit content of Marlin torturing his interrogator with dirty details on what Milly and him were up to the night before, if you don’t like that sort of content don’t read it)
Marlin POV
“Well i had the whole thing planned out, we just had this fight that we got through And We went to our usual place but i guess i took too long because she took charge”
Marlin sighed, this was helping his nerves, to calm down remembering last night.
He knew how to exude confidence due to how intimidate functioned but he was very Nervous.
He was very confused as to why this man, who was obviously gay, wanted to know all this detail.
”She pushed me down and began to suck me off like a lolipop” Marlin paused, remembering how indescribable it was to see Milly like that, looking up with such gorgeous eyes. It felt so intimate so tender in a way.
He continued reliving the whole thing over. “She kept going, taking me all the way to the hilt determined, willing, loving I can’t really tell you how long it was, it seemed to go on forever and she refused to let go until i reached my peak”.
Marlin had to fight not to go into heat, remembering vividly how good it had felt how right it had felt. “Afterwards i pleasured her with my own mouth”,
Marlin vaguely heard a gagging sound but was too wrapped up in the memory to take note.
“The sounds she makes when i do that, when i took her after, the way she latches on, that makes it a struggle to move, pulling me in as deep as possible, her trembling body, her breath”.
Marlin paused again, he was back in that moment just him and Milly. It made him realize that as cunning as Milly had been, how fucked up shit was due to his stupid Overlord discipline he had fallen very deep for Milly.
“We took eachother to the peak a couple of times, then she wanted it a bit more rough, complaining about a deep ache that wouldn’t go away. So i took her from behind and”
he sighs. he knows how graphic, wild and feral it all sounds but his memory is covered in all the tender things he feels for Milly.
“we fucked like animals, it was so good, the way she looked at me, the way she wanted to be held. Even though I was so rough she wanted more”.
Marlin stops talking. Milly had taken the lead after that, smushed his face into her bosom, whispering naughty things he should do with them, urged him on, and as vulnerable as it had felt to give in to those whispers. It had been soft but just as intense an experience as ramming her from behind.
“anyway that’s the gist of what happened” Marlin mind was back in the interrogation room. Head clear and calm again.
Back to Torren POV
How disgusting and excruciating detailed that tale was,
Torren had trouble keeping his breakfast down, just thinking of the boys head between her legs was going to give him nightmares, oh how he cursed his active imagination at this moment.
The fact that the boy seemed to have grasped, Torren preferred men and then proceeded to tell him all this anyway made it all the more infuriating.
Torren sighed, as much as he wanted to snap the boys neck. The boy had seemingly discerned something within Torren, a similar darkness a similar analytical mind. His blatant insults, the ease with which the boy had cut into his motivations. The way he had woven that disgusting tale.
This boy would never stoop to commit murder in the fashion he had been implicated, it was an insult to the boy’s pride, to even consider he would do such a stupid thing. The boy painted him a very clear picture. If he were to ever commit murder, he would never leave such obvious breadcrumbs. Torren began to suspect, if this boy committed murder, one would never find the body. He could have his gnolls eat it.
”that’s enough for now, boy” Torren got up and opened the door. “Get out please, you ruined my morning”.
“Am i still a suspect”? The boy/man was still sitting down, looking at Torren.
”you were never a suspect to begin with i told you that” Torren was getting impatient.
The boy got up slowly and stepped towards the door. And stopped about 3 feet away from Torren.
”I know im not officially a suspect but am i still one in your opinion”? The boy waited calmly for his response.
Torren sighed, he hated perceptive people, “no, not anymore”. The boy smiled, it made Torren cringe. It was so genuine so warm, fuck how he hated that”.
”Good, i hope you catch the real killer soon”.
and with that the boy left. “Those are some of the most lopsided mental attributes I’ve ever seen” Torren thought and sighed to himself. He needed an easy mark to wash this foul taste away he needed a juicy secret. The boy had been calculative, he had no real secrets to begin with and leveraged that.
“Clever boy”,
Torren could at least appreciate the cunning nature of the boy, The boy had known what he was doing when he had made that statement.
and in a weird way Torren was indebted to the boy, his early canvassing of the crime scene, implicated so many people. He had plenty of people to interrogate, one little nobody warrior of lvl 1 wasn’t going to ruin this for him.
