Chapter 31 :

Chapter 31 :

The first thing Will did was check his remaining mana, he had wasted way too much during the morning after all. Never know when he would need minions to be summoned for assistance…

-----------------------------------

Mana : 8/20

-----------------------------------

(? How odd, I thought...15 zombies plus me storing them. Yeah, it should mean I have 4 left...Why is it twice that? I was sure I didn’t recover mana that fast….)

Confused, Will tried to make a rational inference about why his mana is recovering so much faster than before.

Even thinking about it for a while, Will still couldn’t find a logical cause for it.

(Well...it’s something good, so probably better to just go with this. As people say, ignore how you get the goods. Just accept it with a mew!)

As always, hard things like this is best just left to the side. Details aren’t really needed to be examined after all. Besides, it would make Will have little kitty wrinkles or something if he thinks too hard.

(Well, then I am able to use more mana, but only my jobs would use any of it. Not to mention, I can’t use the Tamer skills at all. That leaves only the Necromancer, but it only allows me to create minions...there isn’t any kind of attacks...Oh well, I have my monster skills to rely on anyways.)

Reassuring himself, Will trotted into the forest, looking for something to fight.

Padding through the thick grass and dead branches underpaws, Will carefully searched around for signs of monsters that he could attack.

(Maybe I should take them out? Seems to be a good idea.)

Mewing out the chant for his summons, 5 zombie cats stood in front of Will.

(Scatter! Mewmeme...I always wanted to say that! Sounds SO COOL!)

Obeying their commands, the 5 zombies spread out and traveled through the forest. Leaping past fallen branches and bushes.

(Now let’s see if this will work…)

Concentrating his gaze on the corners of his eye, Will saw the map increase in size. Showing the normal blue dot in the middle surrounded by a variety of random colored dots that was everywhere.

(So..do I check all of them out? I’m guessing on some of these colors, but I could be completely wrong…)

Looking at the screen, there was some bit of every color. Gray, white, black, pink, and normal colors like red.

(Well, obviously red means danger. Maybe. Should I check just in case? I do believe that white is some sort of leader...since from what I can tell Greeny shows up as white. Or could that also be wrong? Ah man...I have to test all of them out don’t I?)

Finding himself a nice little perch on a nearby tree. Will stuffed himself between two branches so that he wouldn’t easily fall off if anything unexpected happened.

Then he used his mind and took control of one of his zombies.

Seeing through the zombie’s eyes, Will had it run around in a circle as he tried to find out what color the zombie was on his mental map.

Apparently, the map labels his zombies as black.

(So there goes one color. Looks like black doesn’t equal instant death! But I had always thought death=black. The last thing you see? The dude with the scythe? Wearing a black cloak and stuff? Skeleton thingy?...Speaking of that, I can't remember if I meet him or not. Shouldn’t I have meet him when I died? Whatever, maybe I did and just forgot…)

Lost within his thoughts, Will randomly made the zombie walk around. In the corner of his eye, Will looked as the black dot was approaching another dot. This one had a clear color, like water.

Looking through the zombie’s eyes, Will walked directly into the area with the clear dot.

There was nothing special there.

Just the normal forest and plants.

No monsters, not even a treasure or anything…

Abruptly, the zombie had half of it’s body frozen solid.

(The hell?)

Putting more focus on the zombie’s perspective, Will closed his real eyes and guided the zombie to look at the attacker.

It was a plant. It had a blue body, and seemed similar to a certain thing he saw before.

Long thick blue stem that rose from the lush ground, and the top ends with a bulb like flower that had sharp white teeth on the rims.

As though taking another deep breathe, the blue bulb expanded then shot out a glob of blue liquid from its mouth.

Quickly moving the half-frozen body to dodge the attack, Will had the zombie throw itself to the side. The spot where the zombie was standing had turned into an ice sculpture of plants.

(I can’t tell if I am lucky or not? Lucky that I never physically encountered this thing, or unlucky that I now did...Well I think it’s edible, maybe. Might give me something interesting.)

Forcing the zombie body to move, Will made it rush at the plant with an entire side frozen stiff. Obviously, it didn’t go so well.

With another spat of the blue liquid, the zombie became a nice frozen sculpture.

Opening his real pair of eyes, Will felt rather mad.

(I just lost another zombie...shouldn’t there be a way to upgrade them?)

-------------------------------

System Progressing…

DING!

The host can either manually or automatically increase the strength and abilities of their creations.

The host only needs to add more mana to the created undeads to upgrade their undeads.

---------------------------------

(................)

Will stared at the screen, then stared some more. Then tried to count to 100 little kitties.

After some time, he was able to calmly assess the meaning of the information he just received.

Well...kinda calmly.

(YOU #@#$ OF A !@#!@#! TELL ME STUFF LIKE THIS SOONER!)

Using the entire cuss alphabet Will knew, Will proceed to insult the screen as well as he could.

Unaware that in his sapphire blue eyes, a small trace of red could be seen.

Then as suddenly as it appeared, the red vanished.

Once he had managed to let out all of his stress about the annoying system things. Will thought about how to use his newly acquired information to increase his overall strength.

Looking at the amount of mana he had left, Will tried to think of something he could do with it.

------------------------

Mana:7/20

-------------------------

(Time to regroup minions!)

Calling out to his 4 remaining zombies, he had them return to where he was.

Several minutes passed before they arrived underneath the tree where Will was waiting.

(I feel like I’m always on something. A tree, a ramp, a bridge. Am I a on-kitty? Or am I just lazy? Well whatever, time to experiment on them!)

With the new knowledge, though rather late. Will begun his testing on his minions, with hopes that they would get just a little stronger.

(...How’d I start? Any help here?)

“CHIRP, CHIRP. CHIRP.”.(Stares at dead half-eaten body, looks away and ignores sound)

(Guess I’m by myself then. Well since mana is used then I should just...I don’t know, imagine mana moving to them?)

Deciding to try out his idea, Will leaped down onto the ground, the soft grass and branches cushioning his fall. He also remembered to open his wings to reduce the chance of him snapping his neck, like he almost did before.

Padding over to one of the unmoving zombies. Will put one of his white front paw on it’s head.

With a determined look on his little kitty face, Will tried to make his mana move by imagining it into the zombie.

He felt a rush of his energy leaving his body, indicating that he did succeed in the endeavor.

(YAY! I did it! I think…)

Looking at the completely unchanged zombie, Will took a look at his mana.

----------------------------

Mana : 6/20

---------------------------

(Well...I did put in the mana. Doesn’t seem to be any change. Isn’t there a way I can check?)

Not able to know if he really did anything to the zombie, Will tried to think of a way to check.

Then a certain memory popped into his head.

(Oh yeah! THAT’S what I forgot! I can check my own minion’s status! MEWMEWMEWMEW! Mew and my bad memory...I should work on that.)

Remembering that he could actually check his minion’s status, Will looked at the zombie he added mana to and tried to pull up it’s status.

------------------------

Name  Unavailable

Age : 0

Gender : Unchosen

Race : Zombie (Cat)

Level : 2/10

Skills

Mana : 0/0

-------------------------

(It’s level went up? That is what happens? Putting mana = level up. Interesting, wonder what happens when it goes up to the max? I’m guessing the number next to it is the max level it can reach...might wanna test that soon.)

Interested in the potential of this ability, Will thought about his next move.

(Definitely have to eat that plant first! Then test my minions at the base...I feel that feeling like I forgot something important again. What could it be?)

Noticing that he forgot something, Will thought that it was better to just ignore it for now, he had a blue plant to devour.

Moving towards the direction where his other zombie lost it’s unlife. Will had the 4 cat zombies scout ahead for danger.

Closing in on the blue plant’s location, Will prepared his plan.

Carefully making sure that the zombies were in front of him, Will had them move in a half circle formation leading to the blue plant thingy.

Climbing over fallen branches and pieces of decaying leaves Will thought about how he should do this. Cause well… Planning never was his forte.

(Let's first give the plant monster a name… Go with Icy Aplant. Good name…)

Creating a nice name for the newly discovered blue plant, he went back to the real problem of thinking.

He didn't really have any long ranged attacks and the zombies would most likely be frozen once they get close enough.

(Guess I'll go with distract and smash plan then! Simply just get the plant distracted by the zombies and then I get close enough to rip it into pieces! Mewmemememe!)

With his rather evil (ebil) plan for battle, on the map Will saw that they were very close to the blue plant.

Controlling his minions with his mind, Will made sure to have something stand in front of him.

He made the zombies move in a somewhat spear looking formation. Two zombies directly in front of him, shielding him from any potential frozen status. The other two zombies were split to his sides, with the same idea of blocking all the hits for him.

Moving carefully, Will checked on the map that they were almost right on the clear dot that represented the Icy Aplant monster.

Continuing to command his zombies to move forwards, Will decided that he should stay back a bit. After all, it's a much better choice for him as he only needed to attack the monster, not get frozen.

As the zombies mindlessly continued to walk forwards, Will stayed behind and watched them.

A meter away from him...two meters away from him...5 meters away from him…

Then the front two zombies had their upper bodies frozen solid.

(THERE! Time to go ninja-kitty!)

Agility moving through the forest, Will moved in a half circle around the area where his zombies were ambushed.

Mentally commanding his zombies to attack the blue plant that looked suspiciously like a monster he fought against before in a game somewhere. Will made a complete circle around so that he was behind the blue plant while his zombies were distracting it.

Well, not really distracting it as it seemed more like the zombies were justing throwing themselves to greet the mouthful of liquid nitrogen like attack that the plant kept spitting out.

As the last of the zombies were completely encased in clear ice. Will reached the blue plant’s body.

Unfortunately for the plant, it had to take some time for it to turn it’s mouth like part around. Time that Will certainly wasn’t going to give it.

Or maybe he might.

(CRAP! I forgot to arm myself! I don’t have anything to fight with! Or...maybe I do?)

For some reason the thought of a weapon seemed to slip Will’s mind, forgetting that without his custom made spike armor and stuff he really didn’t have a good way to protect himself and fight efficiently. Not to mention that producing the spikes do take a little time.

However the key word here is “a little”. In other words, he had time to spare as the plant certainly was slower than him. He just panicked.

So he bit it.

Moving his little cute mouth, Will took a kitty sized chunk out of the plant’s blue stem.

(! IT TASTES LIKE ICE CREAM! BLUEBERRY FLAVORED!)

Sadly for the Icy Aplant, one of Will’s favorite food was...ice cream.

Could it be the start of a massive extinction?

Unable to stop himself, Will then eagerly took more bites out of the blue plant’s body. Not really paying any attention to the fluids that leaked out. Which had similar to the Blue Grapes, completely froze the ground where it touched.

Why the Blue Grape didn’t taste like ice cream is anyone’s guess.

It only taste like grapes. Hence the name.

Had a stranger walked by, he would have seen a adorable little white kitty surrounded by frozen statues of zombie cats and frost, as he was happily munching on a now dead blue plant. Then that same stranger would do one of the following.

Go home and sleep as he must have been too stressed lately. Or start screaming then suddenly calm down as he realized the power of CUTENESS! Whatever happens, he'll at least learn something from that experience. Sadly no such person was around.

(MMMMM...This stuff is GOOD!)

As he was completely charmed by the flavor of the ice cream replacement. Will suddenly came to a realization that the entire plant had already been completely eaten by him somehow. He was actually trying to lick up the fallen fluids when he came back to his senses.

Addiction is scary. Especially for a cute little kitty, you never really know what they’ll do for munchies.

(I’M GONNA MAKE A FARM AND GROW THESE THINGS!)

Case in point.

Deciding his next goal to fulfill, Will used his little pink tongue to lick around him cute kitty mouth. The traces of the leftover traces of the ice cream flavor was quickly swallowed.

(MMMMmmm, Tasty...Mew want more…)

With a relaxed look on his little white kitty face, a trace of green appeared and just as quickly disappeared within his blue eyes.

Looking around himself, Will noted the frozen ground, the ice statues, and the fact that he just ate a plant that had to be at least several times bigger than him, with no problem at all.

(? Do I have some sort of extra stomachs or something? Oh well, guess that means I can store more food to convert to other things…)

----------------

Ding!

The host has aquired new Job!

Job - Farmer Unlocked!

-----------------

------------------

Ding!

Ice Mist has leveled up!

Due to recently consumed food, Ice Mist has acquired new ability.

-----------------

Abruptly, two screens appeared in front of Will.

(Interesting...I have really no idea why I somehow managed to unlock a Job..but whatever! My skills also seemed to have leveled up. Is it because I ate the plant monster?)

Rather confused on how his “Munchies” ability worked, Will just threw that thought into the back of his mind. Along with all his other thoughts on important things. Like how come he doesn’t seemed to have any problem with eating such a large amount? Or how about where the hell he is?

Nah, he’ll just close that door and pretend it's not there.

Cause if you just wait long enough, you’ll really never have any problems. Literally. Cause you’re dead.

(Better check what I got.)

Impatiently, Will decided to see his new abilities and skills he got after eating the blue plant monster. It not everyday that he was able to get a new Job.

Opening his “Ice Mist” skill.

--------------------------------------

Ice Mist (Level 3)

Allows the user to create a mist of freezing air around them.

The temperature and amount of mist created is determined by level

Current Temperature

Lowest 20 degrees F

Highest 32 degrees F

Current Amount

Able to produce a mist within a radius of 3 feet

The user can adjust the temperature of the mist.

The user can adjust the radius of the mist, decreasing radius will thicken mist created.

The user can create and store a concentrated amount of mist inside the mouth and then spit it out as a ranged attack.

Amount able to be concentrated is determined by level. The temperature of the attack is the lowest temperature minus 10 degrees for every ten levels.

---------------------------

(Seems like I can now shoot the same thing the plant did? Wonder what it means by minus 10 degrees for every 10 levels?... Probably that when I am level 10, the temperature of the attack is my lowest - 10. So it just makes it even colder. Maybe I can make a fridge with it?)

Contemplating about the added effect, Will switched his thought to the grand prize from the fight.

-------------------

Farmer (Level 1)

Just a simple farmer of the fields.

Those with this job can accelerate plant growth and increase or substitute nutrients in soil with mana.

Once at a high enough level, a farmer takes the fight to the pests! Take this you insects and annoying wolves!

Job Skills :

Grow (Level 1)

Nutrition (Level 1)

----------------------------------------

(Does this count as a magic or melee Job?...I’m guessing magic? It does use mana...well who really cares. I can grow my food now!)

Checking his new skills.

---------------------------

Grow (Level 1)

Using mana, the user can drastically increase the speed of the growth of plants.

However, there needs to be a sufficient supply of nutrients for the plant to feed upon in order to grow. Otherwise the plant will die.

The user is cautioned against using too much mana. Over growing the plants may lead to some serious problems, especially for a farmer.

The mana used will be converted into increased speed growth for the plant.

Higher levels increase the plant growth faster with better ratio.

Current Ratio :

1 Mana : 1 Day

--------------------------

--------------------

Nutrition (Level 1)

Using mana, the user can increase the amount of nutrients within the soil.

Higher level increase the range and amount created.

Current Range :

1 Feet

Current Amount :

1 Mana : 1 Day

--------------------

Glancing at the screen, Will thought about how the skills worked.

(So, I’m guessing at higher levels the speed I can increase it goes up? Same with the range and amount of nutrition that can be added into the soil. Though what's up with the 1 mana to 1 day for the nutrition? 1 Day worth of nutrition for what? A tree? A bunch of grass? Who knows…)

Annoyed that the screen only tells him things as if whenever it only felt like it, Will decided that it was better not to think too deeply about these things.

He now justed needed to test his new abilities and stuff after he got back to base.

(Actually...I should check to see if my mana increased or not.)

Pulling up the screen for his mana.

---------------

Mana : 30/40

--------------

(Wow! It doubled! This is probably due to the farmer Job...but why does it give so much more mana than even the Necromancer Job? Weird...Well I guess it’s something I have no way to find out. Time to get back!)

Confirming that there didn’t seemed to be anything out of place, Will released the frozen zombies as he now had the extra mana to do so. Then turned around to get back to camp.

Looking forwards into the maze of green trees and plants, Will finally figured out what that important thing he forgot was.

He had no sense of direction, not to mention he didn’t even know where he is.

Or in layman terms, he’s lost...again.

(I’m gonna need to find a solution to that.)

Vowing to himself, Will picked a random direction and starting padding forwards.

Because whenever you’re lost, this is exactly what a person with no sense of direction is supposed to do, start randomly walking. Yeah that’ll certainly get you somewhere. As for the place where you want to go, well that's all left to luck.
