Chapter 21: fierce fight

The monster let out a scream resembling a wavering hiss, and one could feel the tremor emanating from its large mouth filled with sharp, long teeth, like long blades. His teeth were long and white, the only thing glowing in the pitch-black darkness.

The silver blade in Vincent's hand was half-broken, its effectiveness was very low and it could break with the slightest hit. After killing the black bear, of course, its effectiveness became even lower. Vincent couldn't see Loria anywhere nearby. After she shattered the gemstone, she was nowhere to be found, as if she had vanished into thin air. Vincent was sure that she was nearby or at least in a place where she could see him, he had a bad feeling about this, and added to the monster in front of him, he was sure he wouldn't come out of this fight unscathed.

The monster moved its legs quickly as if it were a spider, but the difference is that it is very large in size. Its pointed feet left marks on the ground it trod upon, and as its broad body moved, the beast raised one of its pointed feet and aimed it directly at Vincent, the pointed foot just a few centimeters away from him. Vincent's eyes widened, his body moved on its own to the right while he leaned his torso down to avoid the blow. The monster's pointed foot struck and left a mark carved into the ground. The mark was like hitting a wall with the edge of a sword, but it was enormous and widespread.

Vincent looked at where the blow landed and was surprised, not by its strength but by how he avoided it. Just a few days ago, he had difficulty running for long, and strangely enough, he had managed to avoid the bear's quick strike that day. But now, the beast's strike was so fast that he couldn't see it, yet his body moved on its own.

Is this really what a body strengthed completely, can do!

Vincent didn't have enough time to be surprised, as the monster's foot was coming towards him again. This time, the foot was aimed directly at Vincent's head. He didn't have time to think before his body dropped down, leaving all the weight on his feet. Then, the monster tried to tear Vincent apart with its long teeth, but at that moment, Vincent lifted his body and jumped into the air. From there, Vincent could see the monster from below, its head extended downwards to where it had been a few moments ago. He gripped the silver blade in his hands tightly and tilted his upper body downwards while his legs were raised.

Vincent descended like a rocket landing on a city, his silver blade aimed at the monster's head. The silver blade scraped against its head, and fresh red blood oozed out, spreading on the ground. The cut ran along the side of the monster's head, long enough to reach from the middle of its head to the front of its face on the side.

The monster roared, but this time, its roar nearly shattered the nearby rock. The monster writhed in pain, crashing into the nearby massive columns, while striking the ground with its pointed legs.

Vincent stood there holding the silver blade, sweat dripping from his forehead and falling to the ground. The fresh blood of the monsters flowed onto the blade, the crimson blood merged with the silver blade, and a crimson symbol appeared at its tip. The symbol was a crimson moon glowing with a strange red color.

...

In the pitch darkness, dark blue eyes appeared like the depths of the ocean, the eyes were deep like an endless abyss and cold like glacial heights. There was nothing else to see besides those blue eyes. Those eyes terrified many water monsters, while feeding on numerous visitors who approached the lake.

Behind the pitch-black darkness, a very beautiful figure appeared, a beauty that could make anyone weak-willed fall before it, with long blue hair like her eyes. Loria stood in the darkness like the only shining jewel. She was watching the events happening on the other side of the darkness, her face unchanged and showing no signs of emotion except for the biting cold, but she couldn't deny the shock she was feeling.

She had no doubt that Vincent would be able to hit the beast, but not this quickly and not in this way. The cave monsters were very frightening creatures, even for someone like Loria; there was some fear within her when she saw them. The reason for this could be her limited physical abilities and her complete reliance on the spiritual powers she was born with. Her tribe was famous in the North Moon Forest for their spiritual abilities from birth. Although they had not yet formed their spiritual palace, the tribe's children had some control over spirits. It wasn't like the skills of someone who had formed their spiritual palace, but it was very effective against those at their level. In addition to her innate grace, due to her tribe, she had some limited control over water. Although it wasn't very powerful, she could create waves that could cause minor harm. If Loria were human, she could be considered at level seven easily, but at a lowe rank, due to her spiritual and water abilities and the lack of the spiritual palace.

Loria had no problem defeating anyone at her level, and sometimes she even defeated monsters at level six. She could also confront monsters at level seven, all with her spiritual abilities and control over water. But she had a severe deficiency in physical abilities; her body was not naturally strong, and her main strength did not rely on physical power, which left her with a very weak body vulnerable to any attack.

‘So these are the physical abilities... It's a little scary.’

Loria confessed a secretly. Due to her encounters with many monsters and defeating them easily, she developed an unbreakable arrogance. However, upon seeing what Vincent did, this arrogance was slightly shaken, but it was not broken. She still had the idea of killing Vincent easily.

...

The monster staggered a bit. Crimson blood was flowing from the side of his head and falling to the ground like raindrops, mixing with his white teeth to create a terrifying scene that sent shivers down the spine. Vincent was still in his previous state, feeling a strange sensation all over his body, especially in his muscles. While his heart was racing, he felt his muscles throbbing as well.

When the monster stopped staggering, it looked at Vincent with its silver blade dripping with blood. Suddenly, the monster let out a gradual scream, its voice resembling a tremor underwater, while a sound similar to scales scraping against the wall could be heard. Red threads appeared in the monster's white eyes, gathering until they formed a completely red ball in the center. Blood was still flowing from the side of his head, but the beast didn't care. It charged towards Vincent and aimed its pointed foot at his head again, but this time from above.

Unlike previous times, Vincent felt he could see the blow coming towards his head from above, so he had time to avoid it, and that's what he did. Vincent spun around and shifted his weight onto his right foot, then jumped into the air again and aimed his blade at the monster's red eye.

Unfortunately, at that moment, the monster moved its body and dodged the blade with a sudden movement. He raised his foot and kicked Vincent, who was still in the air, towards a massive pillar. Vincent flew quickly towards the pillar and crashed into it. The rock around him shattered, and dust rose, covering the area around him. Vincent felt a terrible pain in his back, as if someone had shocked him in the back until it reached his bones.

The silver blade in his hand was very clean, as if there had been no blood on it. The crimson moon emblem was still present on it, and the crimson light emanating from it remained. At that moment, Vincent felt a strange sensation, as if his blood were boiling. He felt his body heating up and his energy returning. He felt a slight dizziness as his heart rate increased.
