Chapter 5: The rewards.

Back at the explorers hut, Beryl had been waiting for the scouts to come back for around 2 hours now. He heard walking outside of the door and soon enough the scout party had arrived and reported that the den was cleared. Beryl then got his promised money. Money in the kingdom are specific stones called krin. There are multiple sorts of krin but the most commonly traded are red, blue and green krin. 1 blue krin is worth 100 red krin and 1 green krin is worth 100 blue krin. (i made a simple conversion similar to copper, silver and gold :) ) The receptionist walked over to Beryl and handed him 3 blue krins. "Here boy i added a small bonus for the poison spikes." "good luck out there!" The lizard waved as Beryl left the explorers hut.

As Beryl ventured out into the village he was thinking of the possible options that has unlocked for him with his new money. He could get some cheap crafting supplies or some food and a place to rest. He decided he would look around for any useful objects or ingridients in the village shop stalls.

The stalls where made with simple wooden beams and had crude wooden bars in the roof with bundles of dried long grass on top for shading against the sun. The stall owners where still loudly exclaiming their prices and their wares as the sun was starting to go down. They would pack up once it got too dark and head home.

Beryl noted one stall inparticular that had crude rings and amulets. There was something about these rings and amulets that attracted Beryl. What Beryl did not know was that these amulets and rings where enchanted and only those with a keen sense for mana would know. "I see you are intrigued by my asortment of jewelry eh boy." An old granny with a crooked smile said from the shadows of the stall. "Yes, what do they cost?" "50 red krin for you my dear." "wonderful! I'll take this amulet and that ring." Beryl lifted up the ring and amulet with the strongest pull. "Ah yes as i expected you made the right choice." The old lady said and vanished from thin air. Beryl was confused and quite shocked but tried to find logical explainations such as the granny being a witch and cast a spell which moved her and her stall back home. This to Beryl was a logical explaination but he still could not get those lasts words out of his head. What would have happened if he chose another ring or amulet? Would he have died, maybe even turned into something else other than a human? His young mind quickly filled with all kinds of different scenarios.

He continued thinking about it until he reached an inn. The Inn was quite run down but would serve as better cover than the cold forest. He quickly checked in and payed for 1 nights stay and went to bed.
