Chapter 4: Wormlings den.
Beryl had ventured far away from the village he had been in. Now he could see he was getting closer to the wormlings den. Wormlings where big green worms with small spikes covered in venom on top of their heads. These spikes where often used as poisonous blowdarts. His father had taught him after some adventurers had traveled through their farm and asked for shelter. They had taught his dad how to make them and use them. The ground was littered with these spikes. The venom that is contained within evaporates quickly after they sting a target and all that is left after that is a brittle needle.
The den of wormlings was just up ahead. Since Beryl has never seen one in person and only knew them from stories he carefully made his way over to the entrance. The wormlings build their dens in caverns and feed on anything that comes in or near the cave. They move slowly but when they are in range of prey they jump at them and try to impale them. As such they can be hard to deal with using a sword but easily dealth with using a bow. Still in large numbers a spear is a better option since you don't have to waste time drawing the bow and wasting arrows. This is atleast what the adventurers told his father.
As Beryl entered the dark cavern his eyes slowly began adjusting to the dim light. He could see mucus covering the walls and dead bugs. He shivered a bit but continued to look around whilst being cautious. He could hear squirming and then he got a glimpse of a a wormling. It was around 50 cm's in lenght and 30 cm's in height. Its spikes where 6 cm's long and sharper than the common needle. He quickly stabbed it with his wooden spear and the wormling let out a horrid shreeking noise. It bled brown liquid and quickly stopped moving. He pulled out the spear and shook it a bit to remove the awfully smelly brown blood. As he was doing so he noticed more wormlings coming out of the cavern.

What begun was fierce stabbing massacre as Beryl was quickly stabbing the wormlings. Soon there where over 20 dead smelly wormlings on the floor and an exhausted Beryl. He took a quick rest before surveying the rest of the cavern. The cavern was clear and his mission was complete! Beryl felt excited as he had finished his first ever request and began collecting the poisoned spikes. He collected them using spear to lodge them out of the wormlings body and then picking them up with a piece of his tattered sweater. He could not take them all but the village would send out scouts to confirm the request later anyway. The spikes he was going to sell for more money.
