Chapter 19.5: A Duck's Heart

As Shac was inside the White Void, Ivan was chilling inside the house located at the End of the Line. The End of the Line is a road that leads to a sea cliff, where there is a house standing by the side of it.

It was nothing like a big house and just a simple house like any other, but there is something odd about it, because it’s a house with only a single room in it. There’s no living room, there’s no kitchen, and just a single room, one room.

The room looked like a prison room, it was a white room with a single window and an iron door, nothing else.

Ivan was chilling, sitting on the chair inside the room, looking outside the window, treating himself with a nice view of the sea.

“Still, what is this room supposed to be?” He muttered, still wondering about the existence of the house at the End of the Line.

A small bookshelf, and a tv. He thought as he looked around the room, not seeing anything other than those two, it was a boring room.

“But I guess the view on the window makes up for it.”

The blue sky was visible when looking out the window, it was vast and wide, along with the clouds. And that’s not the only thing about it, since the house is located at the end of the cliff, the sea was also visible in the window, making the view worth looking at. It was calming, and is different from the room itself, which felt isolated.

As Ivan was looking at the sky, a sudden odd feeling occured. “What?” He frowned.

He turned around and ran outside the room immediately, leaving outside the house. “Did they find me?” He muttered as he held his chest.

He tried looking around the cliff, behind the house, and within the road of the End of the Line, but no one was there. “There’s no one? But….”

What is this feeling? Something’s touching my heart…

He closed his eyes, and steadied his breathing. Focus… Focus on the flow… Slowly, he gathered his thoughts, he mentally directed the oxygen within his body to flow into his chest, where it felt like there was a blockage.

The narrative has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

Increase the supply. Slowly but surely, the oxygen seemed to gather in his chest, and it started to flow faster. As the oxygen flowed freely through his body, the blockage slowly started to loosen up. He felt the air in his lungs more deeply, and each breath became easier.

Wait… It’s not gone!? Although he was breathing fine, without any problem, there still seemed to be an odd feeling.

What’s this? It felt like something was holding my heart.

Even with controlling the oxygen inside of him, the feeling inside his chest was still there. It didn’t feel as if he was having a blockage, but more of something like holding his heart inside.

Is that even possible? Did… Someone touched my book? He thought, as he remembered his time in the White Void. The feeling was unsettling, and nothing he experienced before.

I mean, I haven’t confirmed it yet. But it’s possible that someone must’ve touched my book at this moment.

He felt his chest, it did feel like someone was currently holding his heart. It was an odd feeling, something he couldn’t explain himself, after all it’s his first time experiencing such a thing.

Hoping I’m not mistaken, then it must be Shac.

“Did he finally arrive?” He whispered, a slight smile was visible on his face. He clenched his fist, thinking about the possibility.

“Evie, guess what? Shac might’ve managed to do it. Isn’t that a good thing?” He muttered to himself. “We might have had a chance to do it. Killing ×××× might not just be a dream.” He clutched his chest, feeling hopeful and determined.

“In the meantime, killing the rest of the cursed people should be the focus.” He said, and breathed deeply. “Then, the next is to get Shac.” As Ivan calmed himself down, the feeling of his heart being held is still there.

“I wonder if Shac managed to learn how to control the oxygen.” He whispered, wondering about the current situation of Shac.

“What are you doing?” a sudden voice asked, startling Ivan, who was lost in thought just outside the house.

“Oh, just thinking about something that happened today.” Ivan replied.

The other guy raised an eyebrow. “What do you mean?”

“I don’t know… it feels like someone touched my heart.”

“Your heart? You mean the book?” His expression brightened immediately. “Right now?”

“Yeah, it’s still happening.” Ivan said, still wondering. “Kind of weird. Have you ever experienced this?”

“Not really. Lucky you.” The guy replied with a hint of jealousy.

“Hahaha! I guess someone out there remembered me, unlike you.” Ivan teased with a grin.

The guy shrugged. “When are we meeting him?”

“Not now.” Ivan said quietly. “We’re still being targeted.”

“Fair enough.” The guy agreed.

The two of them headed inside the house, deciding to take a break from the fight.
