MENTAL REJUVENATION TECHNIQUE
Mortal tier technique. No cultivation requirements.
That’s right! This is the first technique of the guidebook.
Now, if you’ve been using this as a supplement, which you should be, then your teacher will have long since taught you a technique like this. However, if you lack that availability then this basic version can be used until you find a variant more useful to you. This technique is made to be as mild as possible, leaving no side effects or permanent enhancements, as to leave as many open doors as possible.
Personally discovered by yours truly, it purely exists because I realised how some starting alchemists appear to lack such an art. At the same time I needed something that everyone alive, regardless of situation, could use. Even if you have a rare mutated soul, or you’re a divinity with a mind capable of crushing worlds, this technique is usable on you. It just isn’t extremely good.
ACTIVATION AND REQUIREMENTS
* Have a soul and consciousness (The technical requirement is free-thought)
* Be capable of breathing
* Be awake
You may ask why the second requirement is even stated, and the reason is far too many undead beings complained that this technique was a sham. You need a working pair of lungs, which I thought would be obvious enough from the method, but what can I do?
The last requirement is in a similar vein, where some beings that cultivate in the sleep questioned me. I swear, it’s only on this first technique that I got these stupid complaints.
The technique itself has two major parts, a mental image and breathing form. The image must be prepared in advance since it requires adequate mimicry to a real object. This means the imagined object cannot be vague, with a relatively high degree of quality.
Your image must show an object that wakes a person up, this can take many forms depending on where you sleep. For some this is an alarm clock, for others a rooster or similar animal. The imagined image must be personal to you in some way, and some generic awakening device will undoubtedly fail. This is why free-thought is required.
Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
When you have selected an item with some emotional value, whether in your memories or current life, you must flesh it out to the best you can. If there are some parts you only vaguely remember then simply give a re-imagining of the object. It doesn’t even need to be feasible or realistic, just related to you.
Now remember the object well. What does it feel like? Is it heavy? What parts stick out? What does its main part look like? What about ornaments for decoration?
A mistake some beginners make is thinking that a clock’s internals must be replicated, but that’s simply not true. Only its appearance is important, so the gears and such should only be seen if you believe a glass clock to be ideal for you. If that is the case, then I’m sorry for the trouble.
With the object imagined and visualised, you can practise the below breathing set.
Breathing must be done in sets of four, then the next section is started. When all sections are repeated then you restart from the first section. There is some degree of leniency for all actions, but maximum effect is generated by following technique precisely.
1. In through the nose for 3 seconds , hold for 5 seconds, out of mouth for 2 seconds. In through the mouth for 1 second, expel all remaining air through the mouth.
2. One large breath through the nose, continue until lungs are filled. Breath out of the nose slowly, at least for 10 seconds, until lungs are once again empty.
3. Breathe freely for ten seconds, imagining the sound produced by your awakening object. After 10 seconds, if you haven’t already, empty your lungs once more.
4. Breathe in, with either opening, then breathe out. If on the fourth completion of this breath a dark grey fog escapes, then you know a cycle has completed.
USAGE
The mental rejuvenation technique does as titled. It expels spent mental energy at the cost of focus and stamina, providing invigoration to the user only while the technique is active. This sort of technique is useful far beyond just alchemy, and most mortals are encouraged to learn it for matters relating to work and schooling.
By breathing in this specific pattern, natural Qi in the air is directed to the brain. From here the Qi slowly leeches in and draws out small amounts of spent mental energy, but not replenishing it in any way. This Qi infused with mental energy is then breathed out at the end of every cycle.
Doing this is a short term solution to mental fatigue, allowing a few hours of extremely dedicated work with a huge drawback. The following crash must be accepted, and a mortal should use this technique for no more than 4 hours a day, more than this is fatal.
