Chapter 6: Everyone Knows Yu Chengfei

Chapter 6: Everyone Knows Yu Chengfei

As I approached the group of students gathered at the South City Vocational and Technical College, I timidly asked, "Excuse me, do you guys know Yu Chengfei?"

The students were gathered close to the bar, and even the Internet cafe owner looked over when he heard the name "Yu Chengfei."

The students seemed taken aback, and one of them with tousled hair asked, "What business do you have with Yu Chengfei?" He looked at me provocatively, lightly flicking the ashes off his cigarette.

"Yu Chengfei is my brother," I said, feeling awkward in front of this group. "I need to talk to him. Do you guys know him?"

The students looked around at each other, then burst into laughter simultaneously, even the Internet cafe owner couldn't hold back a chuckle.

I was puzzled by their laughter, not understanding what was so funny.

"This kid... this kid..." the one with tousled hair chuckled, clutching his stomach. "This kid actually asks us if we know Yu Chengfei. Are you trying to make us laugh?"

I still didn't understand what they were getting at, as they laughed heartily while I remained completely confused.

Their laughter was loud, and the whole Internet cafe turned to look. But no one dared to say anything; evidently, the students from South City Vocational and Technical College were not to be messed with.

Unable to contain myself any longer, I finally spoke up. After all, I had already fought with Zou Yang today, so I was at my limit. "What are you laughing at? Do you know Yu Chengfei or not? If you do, tell me. If not, I'll leave!"

The students gradually quieted down, but still smirked at me.

"Oh, you've got quite the temper," the one with tousled hair said, dragging a chair backward with his feet resting on the keyboard.

The Internet cafe owner couldn't stand it anymore and shouted, "Yuan Shao, put your feet down. People still want to use that!"

"Forget it," Yuan Shao, as he was called, grinned. "Who dares to use this machine? Everyone knows it's my exclusive machine." Other students chimed in, "Yeah, that's right. Yuan Shao practically lives on that machine; let him step on it."

The Internet cafe owner shook his head helplessly, with a wry smile on his face, not saying anything more.

Yuan Shao turned to me again, saying, "You asked if we knew Yu Chengfei, which is really quite funny."

"Why is it funny?" I asked.

"Because nobody here doesn't know Yu Chengfei," Yuan Shao said leisurely. "Ask around at South City Vocational and Technical College, who hasn't heard of our Big Brother Yu?"

I sucked in a breath, realizing that Yu Chengfei might be well-known at South City Vocational and Technical College, but I didn't expect him to be known throughout the entire school. And the reverence in Yuan Shao's expression when he mentioned "Big Brother Yu" definitely wasn't fake.

"Well... um..." I stuttered, feeling excited. "Is he coming to the Internet cafe today? I need to talk to him about something!"

"He pulled an all-nighter last night, so he probably won't come," Yuan Shao said seriously. "He's likely sleeping in the classroom right now."

"What should I do then?" I asked anxiously. "I really need to talk to him about something urgent."

"What's the matter?" Yuan Shao looked at me strangely.

"I... I..." I felt a bit embarrassed to say, especially since I didn't know these people. I decided to wait and tell Yu Chengfei instead.

"You got into a fight, didn't you?" Yuan Shao said directly.

"Uh..." I felt awkward, saying, "Not yet, but I'm about to..."

"Hahaha..." Everyone burst into laughter again, Yuan Shao laughed so hard he stomped on the keyboard, causing the Internet cafe owner to wince.

"Don't laugh!" I said angrily. "Just tell me how to find Yu Chengfei. I'm going to get beaten up at noon!"

If you spot this story on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.

"Okay, okay..." Yuan Shao wiped away tears of laughter, waving his hand casually. "Meng Liang, you take him to find Big Brother Yu."

"Sure thing." A small, wiry student stepped forward with a friendly smile. "Let's go."

Just as Meng Liang and I were about to leave, Yuan Shao suddenly called out, "Wait."

We turned back, seeing Yuan Shao picking his nose. "When you're done, tell Big Brother Yu to come to the Internet cafe. He stayed up all night, so he should be sleeping in the dorm, right?"

"Heh heh, sure thing." Meng Liang agreed and then led me out of the Internet cafe.

"Tell me, what's going on?" Meng Liang asked as we walked.

I hesitated for a moment, but ended up telling him everything in detail, feeling worried. "They're definitely waiting for me at the dormitory at noon."

"Oh no!" Meng Liang stomped his foot and suddenly stopped walking.

"What's wrong?" I stopped too, looking at him in surprise.

"It's not a big deal, leave it to me." Meng Liang said confidently. "We'll take care of it and make sure everything is settled for you at noon."

"I should still go find Yu Chengfei," I scratched my head. "I'm closer to him, and I don't know you guys very well yet. It doesn't feel right to bother you guys the first time we meet..."

"What are you saying?" Meng Liang became anxious. "Yu Chengfei's business is our business. You're Yu Chengfei's brother, so you're like a brother to all of us. If you're in trouble, we'll help you. It's not a big deal, no need to bother Yu Chengfei."

"Um... well..." I still felt inclined to go find Yu Chengfei, feeling somewhat uneasy.

"Come on, don't be like that." Meng Liang put his arm around my shoulder warmly. "You're one of us now. If you're in trouble, we'll handle it together. It's not a big deal, there's no need to trouble Yu Chengfei."

"Uh... okay..." I still felt a bit torn, but Meng Liang's enthusiasm was contagious.

"All right then!" Meng Liang said cheerfully. "Just wait here, I'll find a few people for you, and we'll definitely take care of things for you at noon."

Before I could say anything, Meng Liang started looking around on the street. I was completely speechless; could he really just find people on the street like this?

"Hey, come here!" Meng Liang suddenly waved towards a nearby small restaurant. "Ye Zhan, come over here!"

I followed his gaze, and a teenager about the same age as me jogged over. I knew this student, Ye Zhan; he was a local from Beiyuan City and also a freshman at South City High School. He was quite influential in the freshman class, often leading a group of people around, seemingly with a higher status than Li Jie and his friends. When I saw these people at school, they always kept their heads down, afraid of getting into trouble.

But now, with just a wave from Meng Liang, Ye Zhan came running over, his breathless arrival followed by several other students from South City High School.

"What's up, bro?" Ye Zhan greeted warmly.

"You're not in class, what are you doing running around so early in the morning?" Meng Liang punched him lightly in the chest.

"Haha, just hanging out with the bros for breakfast. We'll head back to class soon." Ye Zhan rubbed his chest, looking very happy.

"I have something to tell you," Meng Liang put his arm around my shoulder.

Anyone who could make Ye Zhan rush over like this made me feel quite flattered.

"This is my bro." Meng Liang patted my chest and continued, "He's also a freshman at South City High School. Do you know him?"

Ye Zhan looked at me with confusion, his expression clearly showing that he didn't recognize me at all. It wasn't surprising; I was pretty low-key at school, so he definitely wouldn't know me. But perhaps out of politeness, he said, "Looks familiar, looks familiar, hehe."

"Yeah, he got into a bit of trouble in class, so I need you to help him out," Meng Liang said casually.

"Who? Who?" Ye Zhan frowned. "Who dares to mess with Bro Liang's little brother? I'll tear him apart!"

"Yeah, tell him who it is?" Meng Liang looked at me.

"Zou Yang," I said honestly.

"Zou Yang..." Ye Zhan furrowed his brow. "I remember now, he's the class monitor in Li Jie's class, right? Hey, from Dongguan Town, an out-of-towner. Let me deal with him."

"Good, then it's up to you." Meng Liang arranged casually. "Help my bro get out of trouble, and I'll go back to killing monsters."

"Hehe, no problem." Ye Zhan agreed and then asked, "Bro Liang, what level are you at now?"

"Level 60, getting harder and harder to level up. Damn this crappy online game..."

Seeing that their topic had changed, I became anxious. "It's not that easy."

Meng Liang nodded. "It's not easy. I'm thinking of quitting. If it weren't for Big Brother Yu, Yuan Shao, and the others insisting on playing..."

"No," I became even more anxious. "I mean, it's not easy to deal with Zou Yang. If Ye Zhan gets involved, Li Jie will definitely step in."

"Who's Li Jie?" Meng Liang scratched his head. "Ye Zhan, who's Li Jie?"

"He's also from Beiyuan," Ye Zhan said. "If he's involved, it might complicate things."

"Complicated?!" Meng Liang glared. "Ye Zhan, if you think it's complicated, just get lost, and I'll find someone else."

"Don't be like that," Ye Zhan looked mournful. "I'll definitely handle it, I'll definitely handle it. I have a decent relationship with Li Jie; he'll give me face."

Then he turned to me and said, "Tell me exactly what happened. Is your feud with Zou Yang a big deal?"

"It's big," I said, feeling downcast. "I beat him up in front of the whole class."

Next, I recounted the whole incident again, although not as detailed, only mentioning that Zou Yang hit me on the head with a chicken bone during class, and I retaliated by hitting him with a potted plant and then beating him up with my fists and feet.

After I finished, Ye Zhan gave me a thumbs up. "Nice, well done, well done."

"Well, of course," Meng Liang said proudly, putting his arm around my shoulder. "He's my little brother, after all."

I continued, "I also said I would fight him again at noon. They're definitely waiting for me at the dormitory."

"No problem, leave it to me." Ye Zhan patted my shoulder. "Let's go beat him up again!"

My heart was pounding; this was exactly what I had been waiting for. After all, I had boasted in front of the whole class, and as the saying goes, if you're going to mix in, you have to make good on your words. If I said I would fight him again, then I absolutely had to fight him again.
