“Oh shit.”

I stared blankly at Sheena and she stared blankly back at me.
“Rama-! What just happened, tell me what just happened. What did you just do?”
She shook me violently. I had a pale expression on my face. I could see my spirit leaving my body. I was in the limbo of fear and joy. Of course a kill like this would mean my notoriety would go up and I would get a great item, but it was at the cost turning one of the top guilds against me.
“Oh no...Rama...Rama...”
She looked up into the sky. I looked up with her and saw the army of Otomechs slowly descend down to our location. They surrounded us.
Jack landed down first, then came Scarlett, Lian and then finally Odin. All of them dismounted their mechs.
There was a long silence.
The tension in the air was heavy.
“Idiot.” Scarlett sighed.
The rest of the Otomechs surrounding us started booing.
“PK him!”
“Take all his gear!”
“Take his money!”
Scarlett raised her hand. The crowd went silent.
“There’s no point in taking all his stuff since he has nothing to offer anyways. What’s worse is that the item he just got is untradeable.”
The crowd started to get rowdy.
“That was supposed to be our guild leader’s!”
“A thief!”
“Spread it around that this guy is a looter!”
Scarlett raised her hand again.
“Enough.”
Jack stepped in.
“Hey not too bad Rama, in one day you went from being a nobody to a somebody! Good on you!”
I let out a nervous laughter.
If you come across this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.
“Wait.”
I placed my hand under my chin and went into deep thought.
“It’s not really my fault. If you have to blame someone...”
I pointed my finger at Jack.
“Jack should be the one to get the blame. I mean after all, if he didn’t give me this car with a gun I wouldn’t have even been apart of this.”
Jack’s face went pale.
“Hold on, hold on.”
The crowd turned their attention towards Jack.
“I mean, what he’s saying is true, but...”
Lian stepped in.
“Stop. Even with all of my calculations I couldn’t foresee this.”
Lian shook his head.
“If anyone’s to blame, it’s me, I didn’t take into account a wild card to appear on the field.”
Lian turned to Odin.
“Sorry Odin, it’s my mistake.”
I let out a breath of relief.
“No.”
Odin walked passed Lian and stood in front of me.
“Where’s your mech?”
“I don’t have one...”
The crowd started laughing, but then Odin silenced them with a snap of his finger.
“How come?”
“I’m still in the middle of doing my quests to get it...I’m on the last one, but the NPC who gave it to me isn’t available right now...”
“Which NPC?”
“Riza.”
A slight murmur began snaking through the crowd of Otomechs.
“NPC Riza?” Scarlett questioned.
“That shouldn’t be right, Riza doesn’t hand out quests.”
“What?”
I turned to Sheena.
“Is that true?”
She thought about it for a second.
“Now that you mention it, you are the first.”
The crowd started chiming in.
“Ahh he’s lying.”
“A looter and a liar, how despicable.”
“Sucks to suck.”
“Yeah hate the way he looks.”
“Wait, that last one seems a little personal.” I shouted
“I can prove it.”
I showed them the quest log which had NPC Riza as the one who handed me the quest.
“Well he’s right...” Scarlett said in disbelief. “How is this possible?”
“Well...” Lian spoke.
“I heard a rumor. You know how in certain games, depending on how you play it, you can get different endings? He must’ve done something differently from us to get a different quest line.”
“Wow Rama! You’re quite the interesting guy.” Jack yelled.
It sounded good, but I couldn’t care less about the stupid alternate quest line, I was already way far behind in the game.
“What did Verodith give you?” Odin sternly demanded.
“Uh lemme check.”
I went through my inventory.
Verodith’s Obsidian Scales - Legendary Material
“Says I got its scales, which is a legendary material.”
“It’s a weapon?” Scarlett asked?
“Doesn’t look like it.” I replied.
“Alright, you’re free to go.” Odin said.
“Really? That’s it?”
“It’s a legendary material, but it wasn’t what Odin was looking for, so you’re in luck.” Lian responded.
“Oh nice, aight well I’ll be off then.”
I motioned Sheena to start the vehicle.
“Oh Jack, this is mine now right?”
“Man, you’re greedy, stealing the last kill and now asking for my stuff.” Jack sighed. “Sure, sure give me a second.”
I saw Jack motion his hands.

I checked my inventory. The vehicle was now mine.
“Alright, let’s start gathering our loot guys.”
I saw everyone starting to move out onto the fields.
“Go, go, go.” I whispered to Sheena.
Both of us started making our way back to the town. As we left from the battlefield, all I could hear from those players behind us was:
“This seems like a lot less loot...”
“There’s practically nothing here?”
“Where is everything?”
“What the...”
“THAT LITTLE SH*T!”
