The door to the bedroom creaked open and I scrambled instinctively at the desk next to me for a weapon.
The only thing that was remotely close to a weapon was a plastic Rilakkuma ruler that didn't look like it was sharp enough to even cut playdoh.
Whatever -- there wasn't enough time to be picky.
"Who the hell is there--?!" I yelled, spinning to face the door with the ruler clenched tightly in my fist.
"Ka, Kaya...?!"
A woman stood by the door, her eyes staring at me in surprise, mouth slightly agaped.
I gave her a brief glance over, noting the modest motherly clothes she was dressed in.
She was pretty and had a youthful face, but considering my circumstances, I didn't let my guard down.
"Oi..." I said, moving towards the woman, holding the ruler out in front of me. "What did you do to my body...? I swear to god, if you--"
"Kaya...!!"
The woman ran into me and I hesitated.
I wasn't really planning on attacking her with the ruler, it was moreso an empty threat. The thought of her charging into me never even crossed my mind.
Girls were usually so scared by my appearance that they would normally turn tail and run before I could even say a word.
There was a time I had gotten lost after I fell asleep on a train and missed my stop. The old lady I had asked for directions from had simply handed me her purse and left as fast as she could. When I chased up to her to give her purse back, she was already dialing the police on her phone to report a robbery.
I mean, could you blame me for not expecting that this woman would call my bluff?
She crashed into me with a hug and I dropped the ruler.
"Kaya...!! K, Kaya, you're back...! Thank goodness...!" The woman started crying into my shoulders while I stood awkwardly, not knowing what to do. "Do you even know how worried you made me...?!"
"U, uhm..." I glanced to my side, feeling my face starting to warm up. This was the first time in my life I had ever been hugged by a woman. "Sorry, do I know you...?"
She pulled away from me, staring into my face with tears in her eyes.
"What are you talking about, Kaya...?" She asked. "I'm your beloved mom... Don't you remember me...?"
"Wh, what...?!"
Staring more closely at her face now, it was no wonder why she looked familiar.
Light cherry hair, marigold eyes, and a heart shaped face that was both petite and cute.
The woman looked like an older version of the girl I saw in the mirror.

So, she was her mom then...?
...
Then, I was... Kaya...?
I had no idea who this Kaya person was, or why she looked so similar to the girl that used to be my crush in highschool, but there was one thing I knew...
I needed to wake up from this nightmare.
Raising a hand to my face, I pinced myself an--
Oww!
...
Okay, that didn't work.
"Come, we need to tell your dad that you're back...!"
"H, hang on...!"
Before I could think further about what the hell was going on, the woman that called herself my 'mom' dragged me along with her out of the bedroom.
"Dad, dad...!" Mom started calling out frantically as she raced us downstairs to the living room.
"I said hold on...!"
I probably could had easily broken out of her grasp on my wrist if I wanted to, but...
Ugh... Despite being a yakuza, I had never hurt a woman before.
Sure, you might have to be involved with things like that if you were running the red light districts, but that wasn't my area of expertise.
I was the type of yakuza that was in the department of ass-kicking. In other words, fighting and collecting debts was what I did most as a yakuza.
And as you can imagine, there wasn't a whole bunch of woman you would meet in that line of work.
"D, dad, dad! It's Kaya! She's back!"
Stepping down to the living room, I saw a middle-aged guy that I had never seen in my life before sitting at the couch, watching the TV.
Graying black hair, framed glasses, and a stoic face that told of a handsome youth.
He turned around, then the same look of shock fell across his face as when I first saw the person that was supposed to be my mom.
"Ka, Kaya...!"
He stood up from the couch and came at me, arms outstretched with an expression of surprised joy.
Remember how I said that fighting was what I dealt with as a yakuza...?
Well, when it's up against another guy, that's when my instincts kick in.
"Kayaaaa--"
"HAAAH--!!"
One kick was all it took.
Like two freight trains colliding into one another, I had instinctively jumped up into the air, hurling my body into a 540 degree spinning roundhouse kick that slammed into the man's chest and sent him flying the other way.
The man shot across the living room like a fly, crashing into the wall at the opposite side, before slowly crumbling down into the ground with foam coming out of his mouth.
"Tch..." I landed effortlessly on my feet, then glanced down at my leg disappointedly. "Looks like I lost a lot of my power..."
...
That was when I realised I was staring into the petite smooth-skinned leg of a teenaged girl and not the iron-hardened leg of a yakuza gang leader.
"Uhm..."
"Ka, Kaya..." My 'mom' trailed off, staring at me in awe as though she couldn't believe what she had just witnessed.
"L, listen, the thing is..."
Before I could explain that I was actually a yakuza gang leader that had just somehow woken up in their daughter's body, the door to the house swung open.
"Mom, dad, I'm home!--"
A girl stood at the door, freezing when her eyes turned onto me.
And I froze too.
Ba-dump.
Light cherry hair falling like individual strands of silk to frame a vivid pair of marigold eyes and a face so pretty that my breath stopped upon seeing her.
Long dark lashes, a short round nose, strawberry pink lips that seemed like it would melt at a single touch, and at the corner of one eye, a beauty mark that gave her a distinguishing allure.
She looked like the girl in the mirror, except the girl standing in front of me had hair tied up cutely behind her head and a younger, less mature face.
It had been two years since I last saw her face, but the moment I saw her, I recognised her instantly.
"Saya Yoshino..." I whispered underneath my breath.
My highschool crush.
Saya took a slow step towards me, her eyes staring into my face in disbelief.
...
Shit!
This wasn't good!
Why the heck am I in the body of a girl?!
Why am I in her house?!
What the hell is she going to think?!?
I took a step backwards from her, my mouth gaping as I tried to think of some sane semblance of an excuse that could explain why I, her junior highschool classmate from 2 years ago whom she barely even talked to, had woken up in a girl's body and was now inside her house (plus the fact that I almost killed her dad with a single kick).
But the only two outcomes I saw here ended up with me either going to prison or a mental asylum.
"Sa, Saya, you gotta listen to me," I stammered, taking another step back, "I don't know what's going on too, but--"
"S, sis...!!"
Saya jumped into me with a hug that took all the air out of my lungs.
