Chapter 16:Am I Mental?

Chapter 16:Am I Mental?

As I sat in the tent with Porter Harms, I couldn't help but think about how talkative he was. No wonder they killed him off in the movie. I sighed as he continued talking.

Porter continued, "You know, Adam, when I was your age, I was having fun and doing cooler things, not stuck here in the winter, surrounded by disfigured cannibals."

I glanced at him, feeling annoyed. "What are you trying to say?"

Porter leaned forward, his expression serious. "What I'm trying to say is, why are you here in this winter wasteland? Also..." He hesitated, then added, "You killed them without remorse."

I kept my gaze steady, unflinching. "Did you even see it?"

Porter shook his head. "Well, I heard the explosion and saw the aftermath. So, yeah, you survived and saved me back then. I didn't see any disfigured cannibals, which means you killed them."

I shrugged, trying to mask the turmoil inside. "You're smart, huh?"

Porter grinned, a hint of pride in his eyes. "Well, not to brag, but I'm one of the honored students, so yep."

"Whatever," I muttered, hoping to end the conversation there.

But Porter wasn't done. "Seriously, Adam. Why are you here, in this place?"

I looked him in the eyes and said to him reversing it, "You...Why are you here?"

Porter sighed, exasperated. "You didn't listen to what I said earlier. I was here to have fun with my friends at my cabin. We were planning to relax, but then this storm happened, and you know the rest."

I nodded, "Okay."

Porter pressed, "You... why are you here though?"

I paused, gathering my thoughts. The memories of the past few days flooded back, mingling with older, more painful ones. In my thoughts, I realized: They took Uncle Joe, the only family Adam had left after his parents died. Due to the fusion of Adam and me, I knew his pain and his feelings. It feels like I am him now... No, I am Adam Wilson now, and I knew that I had to kill these bastards to pay for what they did and to stop them from killing people anymore. Even though I'm not a saint, not a good person, I still want to save one person as much as I can. To do that, I need to kill Alpha to end this story.

"I came here because I want to kill them," I began, my voice low. "I was tracking these... things. The disfigured cannibals. They've been terrorizing this region for years, and The only one to stop them is me."

Porter's expression softened slightly. "But why you? Why take on something so dangerous?"

I took a deep breath, feeling the weight of my past decisions. "Because someone has to. And because I have a personal stake in this. These creatures, they took something from me... someone. I couldn't just let it go."

Porter nodded slowly, finally understanding the gravity of my situation. "I get it now. You're here because you need to be, not because you want to be."

"Exactly," I said, feeling a sense of relief that he finally understood.

Porter's right, but he's also wrong. I'm not just here because I have to be; I'm here because I want to kill that motherfucker with my own hands. That face of his makes me want to kill him more than anything. Alpha... that name alone makes my blood boil. The memories of what he did, how he orchestrated everything, how he reveled in our suffering—it's personal. Deeply personal.

I glanced at Porter, who was now rummaging through his backpack, probably looking for some snack or another. His innocence, his unawareness of the real darkness that lies ahead, made me want to leave him here for him to avoid the horrors we will see soon. But I couldn't afford to be sentimental. If he wants to go then fuck it not my problem.

With that I refocused, allowing the cold anger to steady my nerves. I thought about Uncle Joe again, because of me, because of us. sharing the same pain and resolve. carrying his memories and burdens, his rage and his quest for vengeance. I am Adam Wilson, and I know what I need to do.

Porter interrupted my thoughts. "Adam, you okay? You look... intense."

I forced a smile. "Just thinking, Porter. There's a lot at stake here."

He nodded, oblivious to the depth of my determination. "Yeah, I get it. This place is messed up. But we'll get through it."

I didn't respond immediately. Instead, I turned my gaze to the tent's entrance, my mind already strategizing the next steps. "Yeah, we will,"

[Meanwhile Jenna side]

Kenia entered the room, followed closely by Jenna and Vincent. As she saw Kyle sitting on Claire's lap on the sofa, she made her way over.

Kenia said, "Move."

Kyle, slightly surprised, asked, "Hey, what's up?"

Kenia squeezed herself between them, looking frustrated. "He's a fucking jerk."

Everyone chuckled, sensing the tension.

Sara asked, "Why?"

Vincent, trying to boast, said, "I scared the piss—" but was cut off by Jenna's sharp elbow jab, causing him to shout like a girl, "—OUT of them. You should have seen it."

Lauren and Daniel laughed seeing Vincent being elbowed.

Kenia, still annoyed, said, "You have the mentality of a 10-year-old. You know that, right?"

Everyone chuckled again.

Vincent, unfazed, replied, "Okay."

Kenia looked him in the eye, frustration evident. "I could have fallen in the dark. You have no idea of the consequences..." She trailed off, still glaring at him. "...of your stupid, incessant pranks."

There was a bit of nervous laughter around the room, though Daniel and Claire remained serious.

Trying to change the subject, Vincent said, "Well, a place this big has gotta have its own generator." He glanced at Kenia and Jenna. "And since you two are afraid of the dark, I'll see if I can find it and get some heat and lights started."

The narrative has been taken without permission. Report any sightings.

Kenia, relieved, replied, "Finally, you're doing something useful."

The group chuckled again.

Jenna, defending Vincent, said, "Hey, Vincent can be useful in many ways, can't you, baby?"

Vincent grinned, "Don't go bragging now, babe." He then looked at everyone, playfully saluting. "Ciao, kiddies."

As Vincent left to find the generator, the room settled into a more relaxed atmosphere, everyone feeling a bit more at ease with the promise of light and heat.

Then Kyle looked at Kenia and asked, "You doing okay?"

Kenia just glared at him, not in the mood for more teasing.

Seeing her expression, Kyle pretend to be nonchalant and said, "Okay. That good, huh?"

Claire, Sara, Bridget, and Lauren couldn't help but laugh, their chuckles filling the room.

Kyle, trying to hold back his laughter but failing, chuckled too. The tension from earlier started to fade, replaced by the familiar camaraderie of the group.

As the group sat in silence, the lights suddenly flickered on.

Kyle exclaimed, "Hey, hey, hey!" pointing at the bulb.

Jenna smirked and said, "See? I told you he was useful."

Kenia looked at her skeptically.

Jenna added, "Well, sometimes."

Everyone chuckled.

Vincent then approached the group, and Kyle started clapping. The others quickly followed suit, applauding Vincent's efforts.

Vincent bowed theatrically and looked at Kenia. "Happy now?"

Kenia chuckled and said, "Yes. Thank you so much."

Vincent grinned triumphantly, then turned to the rest of the group. "All right. Well, let's go have some fun 'cause I found some really cool shit."

Kyle pumped his fist in excitement. "Υeah!"

Vincent led the way, and everyone followed.

"Hey, Kyle, give me the booze," Daniel called out.

Kyle handed him the bottle, and they all trailed after Vincent.

The group was lively, their laughter echoing through the hallways as they played games and shared drinks. They reveled in the moment, oblivious to the fact that someone was silently watching them from the shadows.

Meanwhile

Meanwhile, in the surveillance room, Alpha watched the group's activities on the monitors, surrounded by his disfigured minions. One-eyed, Saw Tooth, Black Eyes, Six Fingers, Two Eyes, and the others were all present.

Alpha chuckled darkly. "Hoho, these guys are having some fun, huh? Enjoy your fun while it lasts because tomorrow will be my fun," he declared, his laughter echoing ominously.

The other disfigured figures joined in Alpha's laughter, their eerie voices filling the room.

Alpha then turned to Saw Tooth and inquired about Three Finger's whereabouts. Saw Tooth shook his head, indicating he didn't know.

Alpha clicked his tongue in irritation. "Tsk, where the hell did that guy go?"

Three Finger was a unique figure to Alpha, as he was the only one who had ever dared to fight him despite his fear. Alpha remembered their intense battle vividly, and he couldn't help but admire Three Finger's audacity.

Alpha thought to himself, "Where the hell are you Three finger?"

...

Three Finger was here in the Porter's cabin, his body lay down and his breathing normal. His injuries from the fierce battle against Adam Wilson had taken their toll, leaving him weakened and in need of rest.

Despite his fearsome appearance and unique abilities, Three Finger was not invincible. He knew that he needed time to heal, time to allow his remarkable regenerative powers to mend his wounds.

So, Three Finger slept, his body entering a state of hibernation as his internal systems worked tirelessly to repair the damage. In this state, he was oblivious to the world around him.

Inside the cabin, the quiet was only broken by the occasional rustle of movement from Three Finger's sleeping form. He remained undisturbed, his mind focused solely on the task of healing.

Despite not being as strong as Alpha Regeneration, Three Finger's regeneration abilities were still formidable.

Meanwhile

I was sitting with Porter Harmss, munching on some chocolate bars we found in his bag. It was a small comfort in the midst of everything we'd been through.

"Hey man... You know, how did you kill them and without remorse..." Porter's question cut through the silence, his eyes searching mine. "You're not a serial killer, right?"

I met his gaze steadily, considering my response. "I'm about to start from you," I quipped, trying to lighten the mood.

Porter chuckled nervously. "Very funny... ha..ha...," he replied, though his expression hinted at a deeper concern.

I sighed, my tone growing more serious. "Well, I have this temper. Every time I remember what they did, I get angry... and then I killed them. It's like I don't care about them, I just wanted them dead. That's what my thoughts... that's what I think."

Porter regarded me with a mixture of alarm and pity, as if he were unsure how to respond. "Damn dude, you need to check up with some psychology or something... maybe you're just traumatized or something in your mind is going on that you can't explain," he suggested, his concern evident.

I shook my head slightly. "Maybe next time... but I'm not a mental or traumatized person," I replied, though a part of me wondered if he might be right.

Porter persisted, his tone gentle. "Okay, and also we don't know if you are or not."

As he spoke, I couldn't shake the feeling that perhaps I should really consider seeking help. But for now, my focus remained on our mission – to confront and defeat Alpha.
