4 werewolves are standing over them, but one of them is oddly smaller than the rest. The small one looks nervous around the other werewolves and is hesitant in its movements. Taking advantage of this, Emika sends one of the roots to attack the smaller werewolf, who seems too nervous to even recognize the attack. One of the bigger werewolves reaches out to protect the smaller one, but the root goes right through its arm, slicing it in half instantly.
“Oh wow…That’s impressive for a kid…” Rin thinks to himself, still laying on the ground, barely able to move.
The now one-armed werewolf groans in pain, while blood gushes out of the wound that Emika afflicted. She sends a spiked root toward the werewolf, and it hits the werewolf in the torso, killing it.
Rin looks over at the ground beside Emika. She dropped the stone from the other werewolf’s corpse during the surprise attack.
Rin Examines the stone with his eyes.
“It looks like the drawing I found in the diary, in Mr.Takashi's office..It doesn't look edible, but how else am I supposed to use it?.. Not like I can get to it anyway..It’s out of reach.” Rin thinks to himself in defeat.
He lets his eyes examine the shape of the stone. It looks just big enough to rest in the palm of his hand. It's black, but has sage green glowing spots in between the black, it reminds him of an aura. He can see small particles of other shades of green, moving around in the sage green spots. It’s almost hypnotic, but Rin snaps out of it, when he hears the groans from the werewolf that got its arm cut off. Right as he snaps out of it, a root forms under Emika and makes its way over to the stone. It gently picks up the stone, and continues over to Rin.
“I guess she must have seen me staring at it.” Rin thinks to himself, as he opens his mouth.
He lets the root put the stone in his mouth, and watches as the root goes back into the ground again.
Rin tries to take a bite of the stone. His face changes from pain to disgust, as his teeth, go through the stone.
“Oh god, this is horrible…Why is it chewy?! It didn’t look soft at all. This tastes so fucking gross I might throw up..” Rin thinks to himself while gagging on the stone because of the bad taste. All the thoughts rush through Rin’s mind, as he is trying to swallow the stone without throwing it up again. When he finally gets it down, he feels almost all the pain in his body goes away in an instant, though his arms still feel sore, he can move now.
He struggles to stand up. His legs are sore, and he is still in pain, but he gets up on his feet, slightly hunched over. He charges up a lightning bolt, and aims it at two of the werewolves. He uses his other arm, to hold up the arm with the lightning bolt, as a way to stabilize it. He sends the bolt flying toward two of the werewolves, only for one to dodge, while the other has its brains spatter through the air.
“Emika, Could you create a wall between us and them!?” Rin yells.
Emika looks back at Rin, and nods. The plants form a big wall, that's wide and tall enough, for the wolves to not be able to jump, or tear through it for a small amount of time. Thus
giving Rin and Emika enough time to put room between them, and the 2 other werewolves. After a few seconds, the biggest of all the werewolves, breaks through and lunges at Rin and Emika. Rin tries to power up a lightning bolt, but it is already too late. The werewolf already got to Emika, and knocked her into a tree, knocking her out on impact.
The big werewolf turns around, and is about to charge at Rin too. But the werewolf barely reacts before the smaller werewolf lunges at it.
The small werewolf, who was nervous and seemed scared, is suddenly on top of the biggest werewolf, biting and ripping its face apart. The biggest werewolf is screaming in pain, but the smaller one keeps going.
Rin is too scared to move, and just stands there watching it go down. He looks over at Emika. Her light brown hair is slowly turning red, and so is the surrounding snow. Her lips are turning purple from laying in the snow. Rin doesn't know what to do, until the werewolf on top yells at Rin.
The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
“CAN’T YOU THROW ONE OF THOSE LIGHTNING THINGS AT HIM?!”
Rin is a little startled that the werewolf could speak, but he starts charging up a lightning bolt again. Just as Rin is getting ready to fire the lightning bolt, the larger werewolf grabs the smaller one’s neck, and throws him at a tree. The werewolf gets on its feet, but has barely any time to react, before a lightning bolt hits it in the head, killing it on the spot.
Rin lowers his arm, his entire body is shaking from exhaustion. His legs can barely hold his weight, and he can feel the pain in his arms returning. He looks over at the small werewolf, and is surprised to see that there no longer lies a werewolf, but a boy that looks a little older than Rin himself. He has an Almond skin tone with dark brown unkempt hair. Rin notices a lot of almost healed scars on the boy's body.
“Where the hell did the werewolf go?” Rin thinks to himself “Or is that the werewolf?...Can werewolves even turn into humans just like that?...” Rin wonders to himself, as he walks over to the boy.
“Hmm..He seems to be knocked out.” Rin says to himself.
Rin goes over to Emika, he checks her temperature. “She is still alive, thank God..I should get her inside tho” Rin thinks to himself in relief, as a smile forms on his face.
He picks up Emika, and starts walking toward the cabin. He can feel his body becoming increasingly tired with every step he takes. He leaves a bloody trail in the white snow behind him. He opens the door to the wooden cabin they stayed in before the attack, inside there isn't much warmer than outside. Rin lays Emika on the floor, he goes over to the fireplace, and tries to start a fire. He looks to the left of the fireplace, and notices a small matchbox. He opens it and finds 2 matches inside of it. When he gets the fire started, he finds some blankets in the corner of the room, in a small basket. He takes a few of them, and walks over to Emika again. He puts the blankets over her, in an attempt to warm her up.
He sits beside her, letting her head rest on him. He looks around the cabin.
The cabin is dimly lit, with the only light source being the fire from the fireplace. It consists of one big room, no furniture, only a few baskets around the room with things like
blankets and pillows. There is a big fireplace at the other end of the room, he can feel the room slowly getting warmer.
Rin can feel his eyelids getting heavy. But suddenly his peace gets interrupted.
The cabin door flies up in an instant, and the cold air from outside hits Rin in the face. In the door stands a tall figure.
“WHAT THE HELL MAN!?” Rin yells, trying to get on his feet but trips.
The tall figure stays silent, and walks over to the fire. Rin successfully gets up this time, and closes the door. He walks over to Emika and stands between her and the stranger. The light from the fire reflects on the stranger's face.
“I thought you were dead?..” Rin asks.
“Well, you did leave me in the snow to die” The werewolf boy from before replies.
“Right. What do you want then?” Rin asks.
The boy turns around and looks at Rin.
“I don't want anything. I betrayed my pack, and I have nowhere else to go.”
Rin doesn’t know what to say, so he stays silent.
The boy looks at him, his yellow eyes reflect in the light from the fire. They look almost wolf-like.
“...Were you the werewolf that helped us?” Rin asks hesitantly.
The boy’s serious look turned into a disappointed look.
“Are you dumb..?” The boy asks. “Do you not know that werewolves are humans too?”
“O-Of course I know that!” Rin stutters in response.
“Then why are you asking that?” The boy asks.
“Uh..We should step outside if you want to talk.” Rin says while motioning them to go outside.
“Alright, I guess.” The boy replies.
Rin and the boy step outside to talk.
“I'll be straightforward, I have nowhere else to go since I betrayed my pack. Once they find out I betrayed them, I'm dead...And you sorta owe me…So could I stay with you and your sister?” The boy asks, while lowering his head.
“If you want me to even consider letting you stay with us, you should at least tell me your name, and she isn't my sister.” Rin replies.
The boy looks at Rin, as if he is determining whether to trust him or not.
Rin stares right back at him.
The boy finally decides to answer Rin’s question, “My name is Reeve Anwir, I’m 17 years old. And I don't have a pack to return to anymore.” The boy replies, while not breaking eye contact with Rin even once.
