And so I resumed the journey gruelling,
When my stomach began groveling,
We set up camp and rested.
Thus the weeks passed, my sanity was tested,
But by a cat I would not so easily be bested,
And so I persevered.
Finally the desert cleared,
I thanked Jim, who I revered,
And we went our separate ways.
Now that gone is the Desert Blaze,
As my eyes I raise,
I see the Red Plateau.
Seeing the beautiful show,
All I could do was bow,

In awe of the divine sight.
And so I reached a fork and took the path right,
Which would allow me to reach a good height,
In a day's travel.
The road I took was made of gravel,
Built by those sent by the gavel,
It was a decent road for the terrain.
And just as I appreciated the day, it started to rain,
The drops were cold, and the wind caused pain,
Forced I was to find refuge under a tree.
The tree had a hive with many a bee,
I stood very carefully so they wouldn't sting me,
It was not the most comfortable.
Yet nearby would be no accommodation suitable,
Perhaps it was not so terrible,
Or maybe this was just what I told myself.
So I slept in a tree, just like an elf,
Fell into dreams as I contemplated the self,
It was a surprisingly good sleep.
The next day I had to leap,
Across pools of water deep,
Did not particularly appreciate the exercise.
Between two apple trees of great size,
I thought taking a break was wise,
So I had a lunch of apples and berries.
