Chapter 11: [Day 4] - The Lamb's host

As Daniel awoke from a rather unusual dream, he was surprised to see the child, who he knew was the Lamb's host body, up and awake.

The child wondered who this man was, looking at the man with doll eyes, "Where are the others? Leo, Clark, Hanson and Robert?"

It struck him straight into the heart, the child knew his friend, as well as the other men. How should he explain it? How should he explain that they are dead? That he is the Lamb? That the boy saved him? After thinking about for a long while, without an answer, the boy sat down, his hands on his lap, "I see..."

Daniel felt sorry for being unable to tell him, but was glad that the child understood. At the same time, he was also saddened by the fact that he did understand.

"I am sorry, but they died in a car crash. I was told to take of your now," he purposely withheld the information about the Lamb since he didn't fully understand it either, having no idea of how to explain it to him.

"I knew it, I dreamt something about it. Everything was shining golden. I saw them in the car. I also saw you and a weird monster. It was a nightmare."

He didn't seem to know that what he called a 'dream' was in fact the reality.

"Let us hope you won't have to dream about such cruel things anymore alright?"

"But, why do you want to take care of me. My Papa and Mama died, attacked by monsters. Now even those who tried to care for me died. I don't want you to die too, you seem to be very kind too," he said, silently and slowly tilting his head towards his laps, his short locks of hair covering his eyes.

The boy seemed very similar to what Daniel believed he was himself. Wherever he would go, he would bring misfortune, whoever was around him he let die. This time however, he wanted things to be different, "I won't die," he pat him on the head with his right arm. "Neither will you. I will make certain of that."

The child still didn't look up, still sobbing. He struggled, Daniel was never good with children. He was a single child, not knowing how it must feel to have a brother or someone to look out for. As the sun came up further, the light stung into his eyes even more, reminding him of something.

"Look here," he turned the child around, pointing at the window with his hands. "You see this light? You shouldn't walk into it, but you should grasp towards it. There is always another day, always a tomorrow. As long as you live, there will always be a tomorrow, I will make sure of that."

He hugged the boy, as they began to cry simultaneously into each other's shoulders.

"My name is Tommy, and yours?"

They split, "I am Daniel. Just call me Dan alright?"

"Understood!"

To their embarrassment, a growl echoed through the church, just as they get along so well. They looked at each other and laughed.

"We should get something to eat. Do you agree?" Dan asked, smiling while blushing in embarrassment.

They both agreed to it, Daniel opened the gate and looked outside but what he saw was surprising and frightening at once.
