Chapter 4: Seiko

Seiko

Remedy’s eyes grew fast with terror. I turned to see what he was looking at, knowing fully the failure and fear I was about to feel. Their monstrous father was quickly becoming conscious. We should have had more time… Getting out of the first round was important because the second round was always a blood bath. It is like their father gains more strength after being knocked out. He acted like it was some kind of joyful nap.

The terror I was feeling wasn’t so much knowing that we were very likely going to come out of this bleeding and probably with some broken bones, but the fact that their father was now between Ricca and us. And to our knowledge, Ricca was still unconscious. I watched him turn like his movements were in slow motion and I was frozen. His starts to move downward, towards Ricca. Remedy and I moved quickly to try to jump him. We did not make it. I watch in horror as he has Ricca by the neck.

Ricca is still unconscious. I can see her breathing still though, her chest moving up and down has slowly stopped. There looked to be no movement coming from her chest. Her eyes were wide, the color moving like a quick burning fire. Her father is murmuring something about how she ruined everything. He is going to slam her head down on the counter. Remedy intercepts some of the blow, I hear the cracking of bones, pretty sure it’s Remedy’s hand; as I try to untangle his other arm from her hair.

“You are choosing the wrong side son!” exclaims her father as he tightens his grasp on Ricca. “She’s the reason- AHHH, BITCH!”

He releases his grip on Ricca acting as if she burnt him. Ricca tumbles to the floor. Her head is bleeding. Remedy swiftly picks her up and bolts towards the door. I try to toss their father back, but he is too bulky and raging to be taken down. He manages to toss me into the fridge. The handles from the doors hit near my spine. God, it hurts. I start dropping to the floor to avoid the punch coming my way. Sure enough, their father smashes his fist into the door. The fridge has an engraved mark on his fist now. I slide across the floor trying to avoid the demon man. He swiftly turns on the ball of one foot and connects his other foot to my rib cage. I slide more down the fridge and onto the floor to try to move to the door. I dragged myself to the door, I put my hand in the door with a sigh of relief. That was a mistake though, because before my relief could completely wash over me I was hit with a wave of pain. The door slammed shut on my hand, and my hand is stuck in the door. The pain is shocking waving through me. I can barely move due to the angle I’m stuck at.

Their father takes a stance over me. This is not going to turn in my favor anytime soon. Where is Remedy? He looked at me like I had three heads or something. He’s just standing there… What is he planning? What is he thinking?

“You look like him, you know?” he says. “...Your mother knew him, it’s possible.”

“Him who?” I ask. I have no idea what he is talking about.

He was about to respond, I think, hard to tell with him; but the shadow growing near finally got close enough. BAM! Their father falls hard to the ground. Remedy starts to kick their father out of the way to open the door to release me. FINALLY! My hand is throbbing, and my back feels like it’s on fire. Remedy can tell I am not fairing great. He takes me under the shoulder and helps me up. I flinch from the pain.

“Sorry, but we gotta go… Now,” he urges as he finishes getting me on my feet. “No time for supplies this time.”

“How’s Ricca? You took a LONG freakin’ time.”

“... We need your mom.”

Not good then. Not good at all.
