Prologue: Losing ones home, gaining a new family

The sun had just risen. signaling the start of a new day, however it was not a beautiful one. The current scenery was a city in ruins, you could still hear gunshots being fired and explosions ringing out. In a desolate back alley you could hear someone weeping. The person, who was currently crying, was only a little boy.

He had blond hair and blue eyes. In his hair, there were signs of blood, whether it was his own or someone else's, no one knew. The clothes he was wearing were also in tatters and covered in blood. The little boys knees and arms showed many bruises.

As he sat there in the back alley and wept, a middle aged man in military gear was walking toward him. The man was medium heigth and with a built body, He had black hair, he had grey strips in his hair and green eyes. The man did not have a rifle with him but only two hand guns and two army knives strapped to his thighs. The man walked up to the boy and squat down in front of him.

The boy had been too busy crying to notice him closing in. The man put his right hand on the boys head and asked in a friendly tone, “Where are your parents, c'mon I'll take you to them.”  The little boy looked at the man and started crying even louder. The man understood what that meant. It meant that his boys family was dead, probably sacrificed themselves to save him. The man felt his heart tighten as he looked at the boy crying.

At that moment a soldier came to the alley and respectfully saluted the middle aged man as he said, “Captain, reporting in. We have driven the Burg Empire's soldiers out of the city. We are currently setting up fortifications and looking over the casualties and survivors.” The soldier looked at the captain consoling the boy and sadness also flashed on his face. He thought to himself, “Damn, those fucking higher ups. Thanks to them stalling us, this city lost more than half it's population and this little boy is now probably alone in this world.”

The middle aged man, who was referred to as “Captain”, thought for a second before saying, “Good, gather up the survivors and bury the dead. Also tend to all of the wounded, soldier and civilian alike.” The man had respect in his eyes as he shouted before leaving, “Yes, sir!”

Seeing the soldier run off, the man returned his gaze back to the little boy as he said, “Since you have no home or family to return to, how about coming with me?” The boy looked at the man before asking, “Are you sure?” The man looked at him with gentle eyes as he said, “Yes, I am sure.”

With that he stood up and extended his hand to help the little boy up as he asked, “My name is Alex Mai. What is yours?” The little boy looked at the mans hand and answered as he grabbed it, “My name is Remy Lumi.”
