Chapter 7: End of the road

As the soldiers on guard duty heard the password, they immediately let remy in and one of the soldiers contacted the higher ups. Soon a man in military fatigues came to lead the way for him and in 10 minutes he arrived at the office. He was greeted by the person in charge of this delivery.

The man sized up Remy and a said in a cold tone, “Do you know why you are here?” Remy looked at the man and casually said, “To deliver one of the 5 packages.” The man nodded before taking out a black backpack. It was inconspicuous, and looked like and ordinary backpack. It was actually made from special materials so it was bulletproof, the only reason it looked like it did was to make it not draw too much attention.

As the backpack was put on the table the man said, “Your destination is the northern military base of Soldar. On this paper are the exact coordinates, the people on the base have been briefed about a delivery but you have to give the soldiers on duty a password. The password is “Humans can never have wings.”

As Remy took the backpack and the piece of paper on which were the military base's coordinates, he thoroughly memorized the password. If he forgot it, he would be in deep trouble as he couldn't complete the delivery. Worst case scenario, he would get killed if he said a different password to the guards on duty. Remy input the coordinates to his GPS, which was on his phone and signed the delivery contract.

This was standard procedure so that he could get paid in the end. Remy's helmet was connected to his phone so the GPS started showing on his mini map. The man looked at Remy and asked, “Why have you not asked what you are delivering and why?” It was a surprise to him as most people usually ask what they are delivering. So finding people, who the government could trust not to ask too many questions, was extremely hard.

Remy just gave the man an indifferent look and said, “My job is to get the package from point A to point B. As long as no one shoots an RPG at me, I honestly don't care what I'm delivering. Especially in the governments case, as it would most likely get me killed.” The man was dumbstruck, he had never heard such an original line as this.

A mindset like this gets people far in the delivery business since a lot of people do not want other people to know what the package contains. He laughed for a second as he muttered, “Don't care as long as an RPG isn't shot at me, huh...” Remy had collected the backpack already and securely strapped it on his pack.

He put on his gloves as he asked, “I do have 2 questions however. First of all, what is my deadline for the delivery?” The man looked at him with a serious face as he answered, “Deadline is 2 weeks. If you go in a straight line non stop, you would probably reach the place in 3-4 days but we can never know what obstacles come along the way, so the deadline is 2 weeks. The other question is?”

He was quite curious, he knew that there were a lot of eccentric people along the deliverymen, some only accepted jobs that gave them a chance to shoot and some rejected jobs like that in a heartbeat.

Remy's eyes turned cold as he asked, “What are my chances of using my weapons?” An immediate answer came, “The probability is 70-80%. The package this time is top secret but we can never know where our enemies eyes and ears are. This is also why this is a 5 man diversion strategy. No one except for the person responsible for this whole delivery actually knows, who has the right package and where it goes. The same applies to me, even I have no clue if the package I gave you is a Bingo or not.”

Remy gave a deep sigh as he took his backpack off again. When the man saw this, he was startled, as a thought ran through his head, “Is he going to quit the job? It should be too late, he already signed the contract.” Before he could question Remy about what he was doing, he saw that he had taken off the army knives from his thighs and strapped them near his ankles.

If you encounter this tale on Amazon, note that it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

He then took off his jacket and unstrapped the two Desert Eagles from his back and put them on his thighs. After the whole process was done, Remy put his jacket on and secured the backpack again. He let out a sigh as he said, “Maybe I should have taken more bullets along.” When the man heard that, he had a funny face on as he didn't know what to say. Since anyone could be a deliveryman, it wasn't strange for a 14-year old to be one.

However, what surprised him was that he was completely calm and armed quite dangerously. From what he saw, the Desert Eagle's were custom made, so there could be a variety of differences from a factory line weapon. More bullet's in the magazine, different caliber, larger accuracy over distance, etc.

From his bearing, he could tell that this wasn't the first time the youth in front of him was going on a job like this. “I seriously wonder who recommended this guy. He clearly has a soldiers air around him.” As he was in thought, Remy had finished his preparations and was ready to head out.

He put on his helmet and gave the man a few parting words, “Well, lets hope for both our sakes that this goes well.” “Sure hope so, safe travels my friend.” Remy just nodded and headed towards his bike. He glanced at the GPS and started heading towards his destination.

Time ticked by and now 4 days had passed since he took on this delivery. So far it had been good, there were a couple of tails on his during his travels but he managed to lose them at some point. He was currently cruising along a fairly empty highway. “This is odd. Even though this isn't a main highway, there should be more cars around.”

As he glanced around, he found it suspicious as there were far too few cars going around. Just at that moment, a black SUV that went past him in the opposite lane, did an 180 degree turn. The surrounding cars started to box him in as well. “Shit, I should have know that something was wrong. Fuck, there's probably a roadblock up ahead. These guys seriously want this package.”

He assessed his situation calmly while furiously cursing in his head. All around, there were 6 cars. Two in the back, two in front and one on each side. Unless he made an opening, he could not get out of this. This was a standard boxing in maneuver, to pull this off here and at the moment showed that they had prior knowledge of him being here at around this time.

Remy let out a sigh as he mumbled to himself, “If it goes on like this, it is going to be a dead end soon.” He unholstered his Desert Eagle that was on his left side and aimed for the tires of the two cars in front of him. He shot a total of 5 times and managed to hit their back tires, making them lose control of their cars. As a gap opened up in front, Remy immediately accelerated as he charged through

When he had holstered his gun again, he accelerated further. At that time, the people who were chasing him, started firing towards him from the back. The advantage the bike had towards a car was the flexibility in movement. With a bike you could easily make irregular movements to not give the other person clear aim. He glanced at the GPS and thought to himself, “If I turn back, I can follow route 329 that was a few miles back. It is more advantageous for the bike to travel there and they can't box me in either.”

Thought it, do it. He immediately an 180 degree turn and started charging back. This was another advantage of the bike versus car. The bike can make a U turn quicker and also accelerate quicker. Although, he had an advantage when he turned around, the cars slowly gained on him as he approached route 329. When he turned on the route and managed to ride for 5 minutes, he suddenly slammed the breaks.

There was a roadblock up ahead and people with assault rifles were pointing at him. Before he could turn around again to go back the way he came, he felt a sharp pain in his right elbow. He looked at it and saw blood flowing through he wound. As he held his elbow, he looked around and cursed, “Why the fuck did it have to be a sniper?”

That was the last thing he remembered as he felt a sharp pain from his neck and he lost consciousness.
