「Side Story - A Big Cat」

Once, in a great, great forest where trees brushed the clouds, lived me, Shadow, a little panther cub not like any other. I was special 'cause I could do magic!

My fur was the blackest black, and my eyes were big and yellow, shiny like the brightest stars. I lived in a snug den with my mommy and daddy, and my funny-faced sister who always made me laugh.

Every morning, when the sun peeked out to say 'good morning,' me and my sister would have a challenge. Who could climb the tallest tree and catch the sneakiest prey? I always won! My magic made me light as a feather, climbing high, high, high, and I could even turn invisible!

But the best part was playing with my magic. I could whisper to the mist and make it dance, and even the trees seemed to sway and sing when I moved really, really quietly.

Then, one day, I found this super cool rock that glowed all sparkly in the dark. I was curious, so I tapped it with my paw, and whoosh! It turned into a stream of shiny light that went right into my fur. Now, I was even shinier than before and my eyes turned dark red! I showed off my sparkly fur to my sister and parents, leaving behind a trail of misty sparkles, feeling like the coolest little magic panther in the whole wide forest!

One time, I did something super funny with my magic. I sneezed right next to a fox, and guess what? The fox turned into a mist of red, disappearing completely! It was like magic! I giggled and giggled because it was so silly. Mommy said my powers were really, really amazing and told me to be careful so I wouldn't accidentally turn my sister into mist too when we were playing in the forest.

Every night, I would go out into the forest when it was really dark. I loved practicing my mist magic. I would sneak around, super quiet, and make the leaves and shadows move around me. It was like playing a secret game with the forest!

One night, the moon was playing hide-and-seek with the clouds, and I thought, 'It's time for an adventure!' I love adventures, especially at night. That's when I feel like the bravest panther in the whole wide world!

So, off I went into the dark, ready to explore and practice my magic. The forest at night was my playground, and I was ready to have lots of fun with my misty magic tricks!

As I, Shadow, tiptoed through the forest, quiet as a whisper, I spotted Mr. Wolf. He seemed grouchy and hungry, showing off his big teeth and his bushy tail. I thought, 'This could be a fun game!' So, I decided to surprise Mr. Wolf with my special mist magic.

I turned myself into a puff of mist, floating sneakily near Mr. Wolf. He sniffed around with his big nose, looking everywhere, but he couldn't see me! Then, pop! I appeared right behind him and shouted, 'Boo!' Mr. Wolf jumped so high, I thought he was going to bounce to the moon!

Next, we started a game of chase. Mr. Wolf tried real hard to catch me, but I was the fastest cub in the forest. I dashed here and there, leaping over tree roots and sneaking under leafy bushes. When Mr. Wolf almost caught me, I would turn into mist, vanish, and then reappear somewhere else. He couldn't catch me!

Mr. Wolf started getting all huffy and puffy, but I was just getting started. I was giggling and having the best time. At last, I tagged Mr. Wolf on his nose and said, 'You're it!' He looked so funny and surprised that he let out a big yelp and howled right up at the moon. I think he liked our game a lot!

But then I noticed Mr. Wolf’s nose was bleeding, and he seemed a bit upset. As his howls ended, beams of moonlight started falling towards me! My instincts yelled at me that they were super dangerous so I ran away! We started our chase game again, but this time, I knew I had to be extra careful as I had angered Mr. Wolf.

So, there we were in the big, dark forest, me and Mr. Wolf, running and playing. He was all big and fluffy with sharp teeth and a bleeding nose and I was just a little panther cub having the best time of his life. Fortunately, my mist magic made me the sneakiest panther around and Mr. Wolf couldn't catch up!

The nightly hunt began with Shadow's playful antics, his low growls and playful purrs echoing through the trees. He darted around, a blur of black fur, using his mist magic to playfully confuse and tease Mr. Wolf.

The wolf, initially gruff and imposing, was slowly losing ground as it feared more and more for its life. With a burst of energy, he had unleashed a few attacks to end this annoying cat's life, but it kept evading his attacks and he was growing impatient. He was already hungry before, but now he was annoyed as well. To him, this had never been any type of playful encounter, but a surprisingly tough opponent that had somehow sneaked up on him.

Shadow, agile and quick, danced around Mr. Wolf, the mist swirling at his command, creating a dreamlike atmosphere, his paws constantly tagging the big bad wolf. Then, Shadow had tripped slightly due to Shadow not noticing a nearby root and had been tagged back by Mr. Wolf. Luckily, his thick black fur was very sturdy and absorbed the shock!

In a moment of cheeky bravado, he darted forward and tagged Mr. Wolf right on the nose again, declaring him 'it' once more. Mr. Wolf's surprised reaction was priceless, and he let out another mighty howl directed at the luminous moon above.

This originally playful chase between Shadow and Mr. Wolf evolved into something more intense, a true test of nature's cunning and strength as Mr. Wolf's eyes starting to glow bright silver, drawing upon its bloodline powers as a Lunar Wolf.

Mr. Wolf was now on a timer. He had to end this soon or he'd run out of energy and due to that, he swiftly swiped at the panther cub. To Shadow's surprise, its claws extended for tens of meters, shining in a bright silver luster and struck him directly on the side of the body!

Shadow, feeling the sting of Mr. Wolf's moonlit swipe, understood that the stakes had suddenly risen. The pain was sharp as blood gushed out of its wound, a stark contrast to their earlier playful skirmishes. This was no longer just a game. It was a hunt, a challenge of skill and survival, and Shadow was determined to emerge victorious.

The young panther cub, fueled by a mix of adrenaline and instinct, tapped deeper into his unique gift. The mist around him thickened, becoming almost palpable. Shadow became a wraith in the fog, his black fur merging with the shadows, making him nearly invisible.

Mr. Wolf, empowered by the moon's light, became more ferocious, his swipes faster and more precise. He moved like a creature possessed, his eyes reflecting the moon's glow with a fierce intensity. Yet, even with his heightened senses and strength, he struggled to pinpoint Shadow's location within the dense mist.

A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.

Shadow, sensing his opportunity, prepared for his decisive strike. He gathered his strength, ready to prove his prowess. With a powerful leap, he emerged from the mist, targeting Mr. Wolf with precision. But in this critical moment, experience countered youth.

Mr. Wolf, despite the disorienting mist, had anticipated Shadow's move. With a swift, calculated reaction, he snapped his jaws shut, catching Shadow's paw. The young panther cub yelped in pain, the shock of the bite sending him reeling back. The tables had turned in an instant. Shadow, now wounded and limping, realized the depth of Mr. Wolf's experience and cunning.

The forest echoed with the sounds of their struggle, a testament to the raw and unforgiving laws of nature. Shadow, despite his magical abilities and agility, faced the harsh reality of his inexperience. Each movement became a struggle, his paw throbbing with pain.

Mr. Wolf, seizing his advantage, became more aggressive, his movements a blend of power and grace under the moon's watchful eye. Shadow, forced to rely more on his wits than physical prowess, had to think quickly. He needed to use his mist magic not just as a concealing defensive mechanism, but somehow to attack just like Mr. Wolf had done!

The young cub retreated into the mist, his mind racing for a solution. Then he remembered what had happened to Mr. Fox this morning! With swift movements, the mist swirled around them as he needed to create some space so he could take the time to think this through properly.

The moonlit attacks of Mr. Wolf casting eerie shadows as they forced part of the mist apart every time he attacked. Shadow plotted his next, and perhaps final, move in this unexpected trial of strength and wit.

In the tense atmosphere of the moonlit forest, the young panther cub found himself at a pivotal moment. Wounded and pained, he realized that he had to end this confrontation with Mr. Wolf swiftly and decisively in a single super powerful attack. His survival instincts overtook his body.

Despite the intense pain throbbing in his paw, Shadow summoned the last of his mist magic, enveloping them in a dense fog that muffled sound and blurred vision. He understood the gravity of this moment: he had just one opportunity for an effective attack, and it needed to be decisive.

Mr. Wolf, seasoned and formidable, navigated the haze with caution, knowing a critical showdown was near. He tread lightly, his ears alert for the slightest noise, silvery eyes attempting to penetrate the heavy mist.

Gathering all his strength and guile, Shadow positioned himself strategically, aware that surprise was his greatest ally. Taking a deep breath, he readied himself, focusing all his energy for a singular, fatal blow.

Suddenly, Shadow burst forth from the mist, aiming for the vulnerable spot on Mr. Wolf's neck, and in an unexpected twist, he sneezed! This action, hidden from Mr. Wolf's sight by the impenetrable mist, propelled a sharp, deadly stream of black mist from Shadow's nostrils and mouth. These misty blades, unseen and swift, sliced through the air directly towards their target, hitting Mr. Wolf with both precision and immense force.

The impact of the attack was immediate. Mr. Wolf staggered under the force of the blow, caught off guard by the young cub's speed and ferocity, it's head barely hanging onto its neck. The seasoned predator, for all his strength and experience, had been outmaneuvered by the young panther's cunning and will to survive.

As the mist began to dissipate, Shadow stood over Mr. Wolf, his breathing heavy, his body trembling from the exertion and adrenaline. The moonlight illuminated the scene, casting long shadows over the forest floor. Shadow had emerged victorious, but this victory was more than a triumph over a formidable opponent; it was a rite of passage, a moment that marked his transition from a playful cub to a predator in his own right.

The forest fell silent once more, the drama of the hunt coming to a close. Shadow, with a newfound respect for the dangers and challenges of the wild, feasted on the body of its prey.

A Tier 1 Nether Panther Cub had slain a wandering Tier 2 Lunar Wolf.

Through this feast, the little panther cub evolved into something more. Into something stronger. Its wounds were slowly knitting back together in real time as the mists naturally started to surround little Shadow as he underwent his evolution into a Tier 2 Mystical Beast.

From a distance, a wandering cultivator, a lover of nature and its intricate wonders, had witnessed the entire ordeal. The scene unfolding before him was rare and remarkable. In the wild, it was uncommon to see animals cross tiers and slay beasts with a higher cultivation level.

Intrigued by Shadow's extraordinary powers and resolute spirit, the cultivator felt a spontaneous urge to approach the young panther. He moved with the grace and silence that only centuries of cultivation could bestow, seamlessly blending with the natural surroundings. His presence went unnoticed, as he intended, allowing him to observe the cub without intrusion.

As Shadow, exhausted yet triumphant, began to undergo what seemed like an evolutionary transformation, the cultivator assumed the role of a silent guardian. He stood watch over the cub, his True Essence forming a subtle barrier around them. This act of protection was unobtrusive yet effective, warding off any curious or predatory beasts drawn by the surges of energy emanating from Shadow.

In this quiet vigil, the cultivator saw a reflection of the natural world's untamed beauty and its relentless pursuit of growth and strength. He recognized in Shadow not just a panther cub, but a symbol of nature's unyielding will, and in that moment, chose to safeguard this rare embodiment of the wild's raw essence.

As the first light of dawn broke through the forest, Shadow, the young panther cub, stirred from his transformative feast. His eyes opened to the sight of an unfamiliar human, who watched him with an expression of wonder and a broad smile.

"Look at this Big Cat. You're so cute and fluffy," the human spoke with a tone of affection, reaching out to gently stroke Shadow's ears.

Shadow, though not understanding the man's words, felt a comforting sensation from the ear scratches. He responded instinctively, purring contentedly and nudging his head further into the man's hand, eagerly seeking more of this delightful experience.

The man chuckled, clearly amused by Shadow's playful demeanor. "Oh, and he's playful too! Tell you what, I'll take you with me to show you the world a bit," he proposed with a hint of excitement in his voice. "I name you, Big Cat."

The self-named Shadow, the young panther cub, was now known as Big Cat. He felt an inexplicable connection with the kind human before him as another surge of power flowed through him. It brought a sensation unlike anything he had experienced before. It was as if his life had been veiled in mist until this moment, and receiving a name from this human had lifted the veil, allowing the warmth and clarity of sunlight to touch his soul for the first time.

This newfound feeling ignited a spark of curiosity and excitement in Big Cat. The world beyond his forest home, vast and unexplored, beckoned him with its mysteries and wonders. Guided by the wandering cultivator, Big Cat felt a sense of security and eagerness to embark on this new adventure with this new mysterious friend.

The events of the night, which had tested his strength and brought about his evolution, now seemed like a pivotal turning point. With his newfound abilities and the companionship of the cultivator, Big Cat was stepping into a wider world, one that promised growth, learning, and an array of experiences far beyond the boundaries of the forest he had known.

Thus, the young cub and human duo ventured into the woods after brief goodbyes with its parents. Finally alone, the human had said the first words Big Cat had ever understood and those words would remain with him forever.

"My name is Maximus Freeman."
