Where is the butterfly!? I can't find it! Is it gone!?
I speed through the air, dashing around frantically, but all I see in every direction is the green of vegetation. Finally, when I feel like I've looked everywhere, I have a thought.
I can go up! If I go higher, then I'll be able to see more! Then I can find my friend! I quickly rush upwards, and for the first time since taking this new shape, I feel more than a bit of resistance from the air around me. It's nothing much though, and soon I'm high above the ground, looking down on everything below.
There! I found it! It's flying toward the blotchy pattern of colors over there! Excited, I rush towards the butterfly, eager to catch up to it so it can take me to more friends.
Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.
And then I see it. It has wings, just like the butterfly, but that's the only similarity between the two. Its body is covered in dark brown, straight, thin, soft-looking feathers that seem to be growing from its skin. The only place where they are absent is the thing's legs and parts of its head. Its legs are yellow and very thin, but at the end of each are four smaller digits, three facing forward, with the fourth pointing to the back. Each one is tipped with a sharp black claw. As for its head, there is a small eye, its pupil surrounded by a golden-yellow iris. Then at the tip of its head is a curved beak. And suddenly, its beak opens wide. From it comes a piercing shriek, and it swoops towards the butterfly, claws outstretched.
And then it seizes it in between its claws and swoops off.
Suddenly the butterfly is gone once more, but this time, I have a feeling I won't be finding it again.
