Seeing that the sun was an hour away from setting, Aurri decided to return. He couldn’t believe that he just received a talking pompous book after using his one and only Super Luck. He began to doubt its powers.
No, this book should be the real deal. Aurri analyzed the book on his way back. On its cover was a title written, [Overlord Scripture]. It looked like any other book except for the fact that all the pages were blank. How could he gain any information from it?
“Wait, will that work?” Aurri then thought of Soul Sense and immediately used it. But the moment he laid his eyes on the book, a sharp pain struck both of them—
“Ah!” he screamed, almost dropping the book.
Only when the Soul Sense stopped did the pain vanish. With his breathing heavy, Aurri looked at the book with both fear and amazement.
“It’s too powerful!”
Even without any basis, he was confident that this Overlord Scripture should be an OP item. At this moment, Aurri remembered the figure’s advice once again.
“Balance… maybe luck is not a guarantor but rather, provides opportunity. Even with a massive amount of luck, if not used properly, it would turn useless in the end.” Aurri nodded his head in agreement with his own words.
There is no free lunch in this world. Even with a massive fortune, if the owner is an idiot, it would all be just a waste. If everything is truly equal then why are there people suffering more than the others and vice versa? Aurri believed that it depends on the person how to make use of their luck.
In other words, he shouldn’t expect this book to give him benefits while he stands still and do nothing.
“Or maybe I’m overthinking the advice of that figure,” Aurri also considered. But still, advice from someone whose age has seventeen zeroes should at least be helpful.
Once he returned, Aurri found his timing to be perfect. The orphans were already returning to the orphanage as well so he just blended with them and meet up with Luca.
“Aurri, good thing you came back. I’m starting to worry.” Luca sighed.
“Why is that?”
“Hm?” Luca raised an eyebrow, “You don’t know? Nun Juji said she’s going to announce the date of the next Trial Day.”
Trial Day?
Seeing Aurri tilt his head, Luca explained, “Maybe you weren’t listening to classes or didn’t attend one last year but Trial Day is when envoys, who come from the city, give scholarships to talented kids. Although Trial Day is only for nine-year-olds and above, it’s important for us as well since we’ll eventually reach that age.”
Aurri could clearly hear Luca’s enthusiasm.
“You want to be picked?”
“Who wouldn’t want to be picked?” Luca frowned and looked at Aurri as if he were stupid, “Once there, you’ll learn martial arts and be stronger!”
“Ohh…” Aurri was suddenly interested.
Martial arts!
Since this world is one with magic, how can martial arts be simple here? Aurri, who has read enough novels and watched animes, is not unfamiliar with it.
Seeing that he made Aurri interested, Luca grinned.
Back at the orphanage, Nun Juji made the children seated. Flip and his group were just done with their detention as well and joined the children. They were void of energy. They almost died out of boredom during detention.
“Everyone, silence!” when all mouths were shut, Nun Juji continued, “This is about Trial Day and your chance of making the Passing Wind Valley proud.”
With that one sentence, not a single kid had their heart set on fire. Making the Passing Valley proud? Who cares, we want to become scholars and be martial artists!
Martial artists are powerful revered people. One of them could beat a whole army and none would go against their words. Even emperors bow their heads toward the most powerful martial artist so who wouldn’t want to be one?
“The next Trial Day is exactly a month away. There will be three schools and one noble that have chosen the Passing Wind Valley this year.”
There are various cities in Sundenn Province. The nearest to Passing Wind Valley is Odonsall City. Both Passing Wind Valley and Odonsall City are within the west territory of the Sunfire Empire which owns almost half the land of the Sunnden Province and is in direct confrontation against Flo Astein, a nation stationed in the east that extends its territory into the province as well.
Meanwhile, within Odonsall City, there are multiple cities but Nun Juji only went through three of them.
Schools are not just a place of education but a powerful organization as well that can contend with guilds and clans. This is due to martial artists being hired by the school right after their graduation. Furthermore, for the students to become martial artists, the teachers in the school should be martial masters, right?
With the various dangers that nature and the relentless war offer, none can say that martial masters are lesser than great nobles or the city officials themselves.
Unfortunately, Passing Wind Valley is just an insignificant place that Odonsall City doesn’t prioritize. Having three schools set their eyes on them was already very fortunate for the valley. Now, the only problem is whether there are talented children who can get an offer or not.
That is why Nun Juji puts extra effort into putting fuel on these little children’s hearts.
The three schools that will be sending envoys to Passing Wind Valley are All Righteous Academy, Free Wing School, and For Farsight School. Among them, All Righteous should be the best since it is an academy.
The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement.
Although they are all considered schools, academies are specialized and with more resources for that specific field. Ordinary schools like Free Wing School and For Farsight School will just teach children primary and secondary knowledge and skills whereas students may learn unique sets of techniques from an academy that will separate them from the others.
Also, generally speaking, academies are better than ordinary schools.
After her explanation, Nun Juji then let the children have their dinner.
“Ah… I wonder what it feels like to be in the All Righteous Academy.”
“Che! You think you can enter that place?” Giel suddenly interrupted Luca.
“What’s your problem?” Luca coldly growled. He can’t even daydream now?
“Haha, did you forget about what Nun Juji said? The schools will only offer one slot each. Even if there are three schools, there will only be three slots available for the whole valley. Don’t you know, the daughter of the valley chief, Christine, is a genius who stepped into the Physique Establishment Realm before her ninth birthday?”
“So, what? There are still two slots.”
“Two? You mean, one since Big Brother Mart had already stepped in the path of Ascension as well!” Giel said loudly.
Mart is twelve years old, making him the oldest in the orphanage. That’s why everyone calls him Big Brother. He is a kind and gentle person that every child love playing with, even the bullies like Flip and Giel don’t hate him.
“Ah,” Luca remembered, “Last year, he was promised by the Free Wing School that he will get the slot if he successfully reached the Physique Establishment Realm.”
In other words, there are only the spots from All Righteous Academy and For Farsight School. One of those spots, most probably the All Righteous Academy, will be for the valley’s treasured pearl, Christine!
But Luca found Flip’s group strange. Unlike Luca and Aurri who are both seven, Flip is already nine while Giel is eight. Their other friends have ages around that range as well. Shouldn’t they be more worried about this year’s Trial Day?
“Don’t bother with those losers. As if they will get any spot even for next year or even the next after next year.” Flip condescendingly said while leading his group away to the dining area.
“What makes you then? Falling on his butt from a single kick.” Luca retorted.
Upon hearing this, Flip stopped and turned his head to glare at them while his face reddened with shame and anger. However, after glancing at Aurri who seemed to be a different person now, he didn’t do anything but just said, “You’re lucky that we’re tired from detention today!”
“What a hassle…” Aurri muttered.
“Yeah, they just want to annoy others,” Luca sneered, “Let’s not mind them too much.”
Aurri just nodded and no longer had the intention to step in. Unless Flip or the others took action against him, Aurri wouldn’t do anything, feeling that this is just between kids.
Wait, I’m a kid!
After eating dinner, the orphans brushed their teeth, prayed to Caelum, and went straight to bed. At this moment, Aurri didn’t just sleep normally. Instead, he used one of his powers, Quantum Leap.
The figure imparted to him how to use each power at their very basic level. Therefore, Aurri visualizes what type of ‘him’ among the countless bodies across the multiverse he want to jump to.
With infinite universes within a single multiverse, there are endless possibilities. There’s a universe where Aurri is the best doctor, the richest person, the poorest person, the happiest person… etc. He has to visualize one of them to connect his Soul to that universe and control his body and maybe, even get the memories of that ‘him’
There may be endless options even though most of them are captivated by the Demon. After all, infinite is still infinite. As long as the Demon doesn’t fully captivate Aurri’s soul, it wouldn’t be able to gain all infinite bodies. Albeit immense, it only holds a finite number of bodies and as we know, no matter how many finite numbers are taken from infinity, infinity is still infinity.
Yet, even with countless options to choose from, Aurri didn’t think long. He immediately visualized a ‘him’ who’s a martial artist. Not just any martial artist, the greatest martial master!
—
His name is Aurri Waldt, the strongest martial artist in the world. At the age of just five, he received his black belt in karate after training since he was just two!
However, he didn’t stop there. He learned taekwando, boxing, muay thai, mixed martial arts, judo, kung fu, wushu, and even their applications to weapons. Aurri is an unparalleled genius that others doubt if he’s still even human.
At the age of seventeen, he had become the World Champion and had broken almost all Guinness World Records regarding martial arts, body tenacity, endurance, etc…
Unfortunately, a single bullet proved that Aurri still possesses a mortal body. He was shot in the chest and had been in a coma since then, making a lot of people lament over a loss of such a great talent.
Great doctors all over the world took a look at his body and found it immensely muscular. After a successful surgery, taking the bullet out of Aurri’s chest, the doctors were baffled to find Aurri still not waking up even though both his heart and brain seemed to be completely healthy.
However, at this moment, the world-famous martial artist opened his eyes. Memories entered flashed by his eyes and slowly, removed all the medical equipment all over his body. Even though he’s not a doctor, as a martial master, he knows his physical body more than anyone.
He then went to the bathroom and looked at himself in the mirror. With a helpless frown, he muttered-
“Who am I?”
Aurri has dreamed of something incredibly ridiculous. In that dream, he was a frat leader of Megalos and have tons of friends. Then, he was hit by a bullet and died only to reincarnate in another… multiverse?
“Hah? Have I gone mad?”
But the more he remember, the more he felt that he is Aurri who was the frat leader!
After some time had passed, the great martial master exclaimed, “That right! The Quantum Leap! HAHAHAHA!”
The doctor who was alerted that the patient woke up when Aurri removed all the medical equipment entered the big luxurious apartment room and heard the resounding manic laughter.
“Master Aurri?” the doctor asked and walked over to the source of the laughter. At first, he was frightened, thinking if he should call security. The martial master he knows is very quiet and mature for his age and therefore, wouldn’t let out such loud laughter. But after seeing that it is the young prodigy who was laughing, the doctor sighed in relief.
“Oh, Doctor Lang!” Aurri then noticed the doctor and greeted him with a huge smile, making the doctor uncomfortable.
Master Aurri is greeting me with a smile!?
This master is a prideful person who only looks at the people he respects. Even though Lang is a Doctor, he is just a normal doctor compared to those great doctors who did the surgeon on the master. Since the patient is VVIP, a doctor like him became a nurse.
“It’s good to see Master Aurri so energetic! Can I please do some tests before we proceed, Master?”
Aurri agreed and followed the doctor’s orders. During various tests, Doctor Lang found that the master has been talkative. Not excessive but compared to the silent master from before…
However, if Doctor Lang is given an option, he would choose the current master who is kind and friendly!
“As expected of you, Master Aurri! You are so healthy, you can even compete in the Olympics right now and win all of them!”
What Doctor Lang said wasn’t purely a joke. If it is the greatest martial artist, Master Aurri, he could win all the Olympics. If it’s a sport he hasn’t heard of yet, give him a week or so and he’ll be able to contest internationally.
“I see, but Doctor Lang. I have a request.” Aurri’s tone of voice suddenly became solemn, making the doctor panic.
“Um, y-yes, Master Aurri? As long as it’s within my power, please don’t be shy.”
“Okay, I want you to keep my recovery a secret. Tell no one that I’ve woken up. Not to worry, I’ll not make it hard for you, I will just train in silence.”
Aurri smiled. He didn’t know when he’ll return to his original body. Maybe after a day? After a few hours? Before he woke up in Eimterra? Or, is there something he needs to finish? He still remembers the figure’s advice. He felt like he has a mission in this world and with the memories he received, Aurri already have an idea of what he should do.
But he’s yet to return to his original body, how can he not try martial arts and learn from this body? Although he got a hold of the original owner’s memories, that doesn’t mean that all the skills have been imparted to his consciousness in an instant.
That’s why he has to train and explore everything this body has to offer.
