Who's the Greatest System? Me!
Best for Friends, Worst for Enemies

Best for Friends, Worst for Enemies

My name's Aurri, and I'm the greatest!

A man in his late teens looked at his reflection in front of a store's window. It was early morning. Students and workers alike are on their way to their respective destinations. He should be one of them, but he has a slightly different path today.

Right now, Aurri was entranced by himself. It's not just about his handsome face that got him but his overall form.

Only I could make this simple school uniform look like a model's suit. He thought to himself.

But from an outsider's perspective, he only seemed to be fixing his hair, nothing weird about it. It was an entirely different reason those passing students would whisper to each other while looking at him. There's a tint of fear, some admiration, tinted on their faces.

Aurri is a high school senior whose name had already spread out in the city just halfway through the school year. He is not famous, no. Instead, Aurri is infamous as the leader of a renowned fraternity group called Megalos.

Fraternities are groups of men that form a strong bond of brotherhood to the point that they would make an oath with their life.

However, Megalos isn't something as honorable as that. From popular belief, fraternities are just a group of boys who are constantly drunk, partying, and boorish while thinking they are above the law.

For Megalos, the group is right about in the middle. While each member cares about one another, they are boorish simultaneously, even brutal.

It wouldn't be an exaggeration to call them a gang.

Megalos have gone through multiple skirmishes and wars against other groups in the city. With Aurri's lead, Megalos has become the city's overlord against more than a dozen other groups. Even real-life gangs who just watched on the sidelines respect Megalos as well. Most of them are now trying to recruit Megalos. Yet, this frat remained passive.

Their goal is to form and maintain strong bonds, whatever their obstacles may be. They had no interest in real-life crimes. Hell! They wouldn't even resort to violence if the others didn't initiate it!

It all started when Aurri's best friend, Olly, was caught by a former frat when they were still freshmen. Olly was bullied and had his money taken. Upon learning this, Aurri boiled in anger that he immediately entered the classroom where the frat leader was attending and beat him up.

The teacher could only watch from the sidelines, scared. An ordinary high school student wouldn't just barge into a class and beat one of his students without hesitation.

While everyone was scared and speechless, Olly was touched by this act.

Meanwhile, the frat leader didn't handle the humiliation well. So after he came out of the hospital three days later, he tried to find trouble with Aurri, and the latter and his group would retaliate.

From then on, everything spiraled down uncontrollably. In the end, Aurri's friends stayed with him, and their circle grew as more people began to admire their bond and wanted to join in.

In the end, Megalos unintentionally became the overlord. At one point, this took the attention of the local news provider, and they interviewed Aurri.

When asked how he led the group to victory, Aurri shrugged his shoulders and answered, "I just did what I think is the best for my friends."

Since they were still minors, Aurri and his friends were only placed in juvenile prison and were sentenced to community service at worst. But as long as they were together, they were having fun.

Furthermore, Megalos have more freedom compared to other violent groups. After all, they never harm the innocent. They only fight back when wronged or provoked. If they are suppressing the delinquents, isn't it fine? The city council reached a consensus.

That is the reason why others fear Aurri. He is a madman walking in the streets, seemingly an ordinary person. However, only those who didn't know him feared him.

"Aurri!"

At this moment, a girl shouted at him. Aurri turned to her and waved, "Zara."

Zara is a girl from another school. She had a perfect figure and a face of a model. When she beamed and cheerfully waved at Aurri, many men in the streets glanced at him with great envy.

Once she reached him, she immediately grabbed his arm, pressing her ample bosom against him. Aurri didn't resist. Who would!?

"Do we really need to do this?" Zara asked with a troubled face now that she remembered what they planned to do. Although she complained, she did so coquettishly while humming with joy.

"Hehe, of course. The victor should always get his reward." Aurri laughed.

Hearing this, Zara pouted, "What? Am I not enough?" she shook his arm.

"Come on, don't use that card. We already agreed to this."

"Hmph, fine!"

If six months ago, someone found Zara acting like this, they would need to pinch their cheeks to see if they were dreaming or not. Zara was someone who did not have any interest in regards to romance.

She is the type to say, "What would you gain from dating someone? We are not old enough to consider marriage."

Now, however, she is like a different person.

Instead of going to his school, Aurri went to Zara's. On their way, they met with someone familiar.

"Yo!!"

"Olly!" Aurri immediately recognized this person. When they faced one another, they initiated the unique greeting that members of Megalos do when they see one another.

Olly wore a confident smile, wider than Aurri's. His hair was tied back with braids while his lips and ears had piercings on them. He looked like a thug if not for his fashionable glasses.

While the two boys do a series of actions starting with a fist bump casually with speed, Zara rolls her eyes with jealousy.

After the greeting, Olly saw her bitter expression and laughed, "Zara, do you hate my face that much?"

"Yes," she snorted.

"Ah, cold and harsh as always…" after having his strike of conversation fail, Olly could only give up.

If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation.

"Zara," Aurri already expected this and said reprimandingly. Suddenly, like a child who did something wrong, Zara lowered her head.

"It's just… why can't I be part of the Megalos," she said with a tone of sadness.

"Yeah, Aurri, you're very sexist." Olly accusingly pointed at Aurri's face.

Aurri just slapped the finger away, ignoring him.

"It's because you're not my friend, but my girlfriend. Being part of Megalos means having to be pulled into fights consistently. Let us, the boys, handle that part. Meanwhile, your job is to be spoiled."

Being called his girlfriend made Zara blush and smile. Seeing him eye to eye, she tiptoed and waited for a kiss, only to be interrupted by Olly.

"Geez, you two are in public. Mind yourselves!" he pushed them, "Also, save that for later."

Zara glared at Olly but didn't rebuke him because they would do just that.

Back then, Zara was cold and did not belong to any social groups. Because of her beauty, she was a target of jealousy. Being alone, she was an easy target of bullying.

Not willing to endure the bullying, Zara accepted to be the girlfriend of their school's top delinquent. At first, the other girls feared her as the top delinquent quickly handled them. She thought she made the right decision until that delinquent wasn't content with her actions.

After all, she was only his girlfriend on paper. In reality, she didn't let the delinquent touch her even once. This angered the delinquent and eventually came a time when he attempted to force himself against her. Zara could only escape.

As if brought by fate, Aurri encountered her. Megalos was just on their way to teach the delinquent and his group over a different matter. Seeing her sorry state, Aurri reached his hand out to her and said-

"We both hate the same guy. Why not come along and watch us exact revenge?"

Seeing the delinquent she feared the most be pummeled by Aurri onto the ground, she couldn't help but have an indescribable feeling of security.

Aurri treated her as an equal, unlike the others, so she clung to him like a magnet.

Today though, that delinquent was released from the hospital after his one-week stay. Aurri wasn't satisfied beating that man up as that delinquent was rotten to the core. He just wanted to brag a little.

Back to when he was interviewed and asked how Aurri could accomplish the things he had done, he gave a simple admirable answer… which the public knows of. However, in reality, he wasn't done with that answer.

"I just did what I think is the best for my friends" Aurri shrugged his shoulders before continuing with a cold smile that even sent chills to the interviewer, "and the worst for our enemies."

...

Arriving in front of Zara's school gate, the trio promptly waited. While they were attracting every passing student's eyes, the delinquent finally came. His arm was bandaged and hung by his neck. His face still had visible bruises while he had a hard time walking. It was a pitiful sight.

Even Zara couldn't help but feel pity at first glance. However, remembering the real personality of this person, she could only say he deserves this.

When the bandaged person saw the trio, he shuddered as if recounting a traumatic past.

"Hello, Brad." Aurri casually greeted while leaning on the wall.

"A-aurri…!" Brad muttered as he instinctively put up a defense. Though in his state, he could not form any.

At the same time, Aurri wrapped his arm around Zara's waist, pulling her towards her. Zara got a bit shy this time. It was her schoolmates who were passing by and seeing this scene, not complete strangers like earlier.

"Zara…" this clear provocation made Brad's eyes bloodshot. He had longed coveted Zara's alluring figure. Even though she was his "girlfriend" back then, he could only stare. That made him go crazy. But now, Aurri, his worst enemy, had Zara in his arms.

In response, Zara hugged Aurri back while shoving her face in embarrassment. If she looked so stiff, others might think she was forced.

"Kuh..!" that was a direct hit to Brad.

Seeing Aurri's face of satisfaction, Olly helplessly sighed with a smile. Although it may seem petty, Olly knew Aurri's real intention. Seeing Brad's dismayed face was one reason for this publicity stunt. The other reason is that with them showing off their relationship, who would dare bully Zara, the girlfriend of the Megalos' leader, again?

Since Zara goes to another school, Aurri can't come to her in an instant if something happens to her. Aurri did this for her safety.

"Zara, I'll come to pick you up later after school." Aurri then said and kissed Zara on the lips, making her face steam up as she nodded. She wanted to complain about why he would do that in front of the school, but she could only lower her head and pinch Aurri's side.

However, Aurri just laughed and went ahead with Olly. They had yet to walk far away when they heard shrieks behind them. Wondering what suddenly happened, the two turned to see that Brad had pointed a gun toward them.

Both of them had their eyes widened. After some pause, Olly became red with anger.

"Brad, you pathetic shit! You actually brought a firearm, you fuck!" he cursed, "Aren't you ashamed of yourself!?"

One big difference between delinquents from real-life gangs is that they do not use fatal weapons such as firearms. The fights between these groups are primarily fistfights.

Most of Megalos' enemies only use their fists during fistfights. It is rare to see one even bring a knife, and that person would be shamed for doing so. From then on, they'll be regarded as a weakling.

At the very least, no matter how boorish these people are, they still have some honor and respect for street rules. Although Brad didn't bring a knife, he got a fucking gun!

Those who watched from the sidelines could only hope that the gun was not real. However, seeing Brad's crazed state and appearance, it doesn't seem that was the case.

Aurri hates Brad for being rotten. However, even he didn't expect Brad to show up with a gun.

"Shut up! Shut up! This is your fault! Because of what you did, my dad learned what I was doing! Do you know how much trouble I went through!?" Brad screamed at the top of his voice.

"Fucking whiny bitch-"

"Olly!" Aurri stopped Olly, saying, "Don't provoke him. It's too dangerous."

"What? No, this bitch doesn't have the guts to pull the trigger! Look, he cannot even hold the gun properly from how much he trembles!" Olly tried to remove Aurri's clutch on his collar. However, looking back, he saw Aurri's serious face, which frightened him to a halt.

Although Aurri was not revealing an expression to the point of being cold, Olly could feel that Aurri was truly angry right now.

"Oh, you think I can't? I can't pull this trigger!? Let's see who doesn't have the guts!"

Aurri's eyes widened as his instincts overridden him. Before Brad pulled the trigger, Aurri had pulled Olly to the side-

Bang–!

A gunshot echoed.

"S-see!? I pulled it! Who's the whiny bitch now!? Haha… hahaha!" Brad maniacally laughs as if he had turned into a madman, not noticing that Aurri is already in front of him.

"Eh?" that was Brad's last word before he was punched in the face, "Kek–!"

He fell to the ground and dropped the gun with his loose grasp. Aurri kicked it away and began to pummel Brad once more.

"Ah–! I'm sorry! Wait! I-it was just a joke!"

Brad let out a whimper the moment he tasted Aurri's heavy fists. However, Aurri didn't stop. He didn't know how many punches he threw before someone called out.

"Aurri, that's enough!"

"Ah, Zara…"

Hearing Aurri's feeble reply, Zara's heart felt heavy. She was already in her classroom when she heard the gunshot. When she arrived, she saw Aurri beating the unconscious brad, his face filled with rage.

"Good thing you arrived, Zara! Even I couldn't stop Aurri when he got to that point!" Olly wiped his sweat away. Truthfully, he supported Aurri, so he didn't do anything to stop him. Olly may seem a happy-go-lucky type of person, but Aurri's ruthlessness had long influenced him.

"What happened? I heard something loud and found a commotion here." Zara worriedly asked.

"Tsk, this pathetic coward brought a gun and threatened us! Good thing he didn't hit anyone, and Aurri tackled him down before this idiot realized it!" Olly excitedly said, filled with admiration. As expected of the leader of Megalos, he thought.

When Zara heard the word 'gun,' fear overwhelmed her entirety. She immediately looked at Aurri and noticed that he was holding his stomach.

That's when Zara noticed his clothes were soaked by something red from where his hand was hiding. It's none other than blood.

"Olly, call the ambulance!"

Zara immediately shouted, startling even Olly, who had his blood pumped.

"Ah? Yeah, right, Aurri might get charged with murder if we left Brad like that." he laughed.

“No, idiot, for Aurri!”

"For Aurri…?" Olly frowned before realizing the situation. His eyes slowly towards Aurri as its energy faded, "Aurri?"

All this time, he thought that Brad had missed his shot. How did Aurri run up and beat him to a pulp afterward if he didn't?

If Olly knew, he could've stopped Aurri earlier.

"Haha, damn." Aurri laughed underneath his ragged breath. If not for his paled face, they would've thought that everything was as usual, "I think I've lost too much blood… I guess it's my temper that brought me down this time."

If he didn't rush and called for an ambulance at that moment, he might've received a first-aid kit to prevent further blood loss.

"I messed up big time. While I'm gone, Olly, you lead Megalos and protect our brothers."

"Hey, that's not funny…!" Olly could feel his legs weaken.

"Olly, the ambulance!!" Zara shouted, but Olly's hands were trembling so much that he couldn't properly use his phone.

"Next time, I should control my temper more," Aurri muttered one last time.
