At least 33 people died and dozens were injured after a man set fire to an animation studio in the Japanese city of Kyoto, officials say.

Police said the 41-year-old suspect broke into the Kyoto Animation studio on Thursday morning and sprayed petrol before igniting it.

The suspect has been detained and was taken to hospital with injuries.

Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said the incident was "too appalling for words" and offered condolences.

It is one of Japan's worst mass casualty incidents since World War Two.

Kyoto Animation, known as KyoAni, produces films and graphic novels and is well regarded by fans for the quality of its productions.

One hour before the phone call

The ambulance came and looked for survivors. Heavy rain began and people whose job it was to take the deceased people to get their medical expertise were being said to hurry. The street remained closed for the rest of the week and the police, firemen and the rest of the law enforcement forces present left the accident scene.

Half an hour before the phone call

In the police station building, at the chief door.

Two figures enter the door. It was the policemen the detective.

The man who is known to be the chief of the police station was, till a moment ago was looking out the window and suddenly turning towards the two and waits to see what they have to say. After discussing things unrelated to the current case, they share the information that they've got with the chief.

"This case leaves me a bitter mouth, detective Tidah." said Hasezama

"Yes, I know. In my 30 years of experience, I have never encountered a case like this. The only thing I can think of is that it happened so fast that she probably didn't even realize when she died."

"Also, we couldn't find her head. Maybe a dog took it. We searched 4 miles around the zone with the help of 2 teams formed with trained dogs." added the policeman

"I see. You two are free to go. I have to call the parents of the kids. The car driver's body and the woman standing next to him were burned totally so it will take some time till we find their identity."

The policeman and detective left.

Few days after the accident

Chen's life was destroyed. Not because his best friend died, his girlfriend died... but because he bore the brunt of the guilt of indirectly killing two people. Every night he dreamed Haro's face asking "Why?" and then coming after him to take revenge for stealing his girlfriend.

She accepted without any second thought.

He bore the brunt of his new girlfriend's death because on the day of the accident:

"I want to play with you more, let's met at my house tonight. I won't stay at school too much because I must be somewhere so I will be very curious about what will happen after school." said Chen

"Yes, my love. But where are you going? Can't you tell me?"

"Forget about it at kiss me!"

She kisses him and notices Haro's presence.

She stops kissing Chen and smile at Haro.

"What happened? Is my mouth stinks or what?" asked Chen irritated

"Haro, the looser is on the other side of the street, he is staring at us."

Chen turns his head just to look at him with the tail of his right eye and suddenly fear goes through his body like an electroshock when he sees Haro running towards him.

He turns his head more in Haro's direction running in the opposite direction and unconsciously pushing back Aleesha with his left hand trying to be propelled and get a bit faster.

Aleesha is now is two meters in back from the original spot, try to get up from the ground. Right at that moment a drunk driver passes by her and hits Haro sending him few meters away then the car runs into a power pole and the fire appears.

Chen stops running and looks shocked with Aleesha at the whole scene. Closes his eyes for a second when the car explodes leaving Aleesha standing up but with the head missing. Opening the eyes, Chen mind's goes black and runs away from the scene.

That's why 4 days after the accident he goes to where the accident happened, at the spot where his dead girlfriend was standing last time trying to make himself believe that it wasn't his fault.

He sits and rests with his back against the brick wall.

"Hears a metal sound"

Looking in the right, looking in the left. Looking up ?! The pice of metal blocked a moment ago in the wall moved a few centimeters and the head of his former love falls and hits him straight in his head leaving him unconsciousness lying on the back. Then the metal falls down leaving Chen's body without his head.

His head rolls three meters where meets the head of his former girlfriend.
