Time, One of the most precious resources that exist. Everybody wants more of it. But it's impossible to get more time. Everybody gets a different amount of time, and you have to spend it wisely. But what if you could do something to get more time?
I slowly open my eyes to get greeted by a clock staring at me. I focus my eyes on what the clock says, 07:30. Oh no! School starts at 08:00, I'm going to be late at this rate. I rise up in my messy room to look for my clothes. I push some things down while walking to my wardrobe. I quickly open it and drag out some clothes that I think are "good enough". I dress while speed-walking out of my room. I stare for a couple of seconds at the door leading to my mom's room. Well, she's not really my mom. My biological parents died when I was little, I barely remember them so it doesn't bother me as much as people think. I shake my head and continue to walk. I hear some car noises outside, and a loud screaming noise from our living room. Geez, can't she calm down!? It's time for school soon, doesn't she realize that? I'm midway through the stairs when I hear
"You Idiot!!!!!".
I'm used to that kind of language so I just continue walking. But I notice something strange, all the sounds I heard before are suddenly gone. I stand a bit confused. I look around me quickly and notice a thing right next to me. A magazine is right next to my head, but it's also floating in the air. This didn't solve my confusion, instead it made it more intense. Behind the magazine, I see my sister completely frozen in a throwing pose with an open mouth. As an impulse, I walk down a couple of steps. Immediately when I do that, the magazine flies into the wall with terrifying force and all the noises resume. Including my screaming sister. I just stare at the magazine, now on one of the steps. But I quickly remember what I was doing and run down the stairs. I enter the living room with haste. I look my sister in the eye and scream
"What the hell are you doing, Elin!? It's almost time for school and you sit here and scream and throw things at your brother!?"
Elin stands up and puts her arms in a cross. She walks up to me and starts talking
"School? What school?"
I gaze at her face with a troubled face. I say
"You know, the thing we do almost every day. The thing that also starts in." I quickly look at a clock that is behind Elin. "07:40!!!! I'm going to be so late!". Elin looks at my distressed face with a calm and reserved look.
"You really are a stupid brother. It's Saturday today! What the hell did you think it was?" Elin says. I quickly pull a confused look and run to the table to look at my phone. I open my phone and stare dumbfoundedly at the date, it really was Saturday today. I slowly put my phone back on the table. I then lay myself down on the sofa and stare up at the ceiling. I let out a sigh as I feel defeated, but nonetheless happy.
"Good grief, how could you mess that up!?" Elin says mockingly.
"Oh, shut up. How about we have you wake up to a big "07:30" staring at your face. If only I could've woken up at 6 am." I respond.
"You really stay true to your philosophy, don't you?" Elin says a bit more quietly.
The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
Ah yes, my philosophy. My philosophy is basically that time is very precious to me. More precious than money. To use the time I have in the best way I have decided to spend every second towards something that will benefit me. I try my best to live by this rule.
"Of course!" I respond brightly. I then continue with
"Well then, I'd better go do something productive then. See you."
I turn around and start walking towards my room, behind me I hear Elin mumble "idiot". I walk to my room with heavy and tired steps. That was only natural, I did go to sleep at 2 am. I turn on the lights at my desk and start drawing.
"It's lunch!" I hear my mom scream from downstairs. The past 4 hours I've been doing a mixture of drawing and studying for school. I can feel my stomach screaming for food so I run to the dining table. I skipped breakfast today because I thought there were more important things to do. As I run into the kitchen I get greeted by a heavy sigh and a slightly disappointed mom. I look at her in confusion.
"What are you wearing?" Mom says and points at my legs with a flustered face.
"You're not wearing any pants!".
I look down at my legs and chuckle a little bit. I say
"Well, I did have pants on before when I thought it was school today. But later when I started working I felt very uncomfortable because of my pants so I took them off. Besides, It doesn't really matter. We're family, right?"
Mom almost teared up after hearing "We're family right?". I stare at mom's face almost tearing up super confused. I say
"If you feel that strongly about it I can go and put on so----"
I'm interrupted by an embarrassed sister screaming
"Why don't you have pants on!?"
"Do I really have to explain it again" I quickly mumble to myself.
"You even had pants on this morning, what happened?" Elin asks. I sigh and say
"I thought it was uncomfortable so I took them off."
"Y-You pervert!" Elin says and runs up to me and tries to punch me.
"You know your 15-year-old strength doesn't hurt, right?" I say.
"What!? You're only a year older than me aren't you?" Elin says and continues.
I face-palm and turn around to mom. I say
"Could I get my food now?"
"Yeah, sure" Mom says brightly. I take a quick glance at a clock.
"Oh No! I've wasted 15 minutes here!" I say. I run up to the counter and quickly grab my food. While I run, I hear a lot complaining from a specific person in the background. Suddenly, I trip on a toy ball next to the staircase. I witness my food and glass of water falling.
But again, all sound stops and I see my food and glass frozen in the air. The same thing happened this morning. I had dismissed the thing that happened this morning as a hallucination because I was tired. But now when it has happened twice, I'm beginning to think that's not the case. Could it be that I've... Stopped time? I looked around me to observe what's happening. Maybe I've read too much manga, but that seems to be the most logical option.
Awesome! Now I'll be able to do so much stuff using my time efficiently, technically I won't be using any time at all. With a strong smile on my face, I pick up the food and the glass of water that were floating. I start walking, but immediately I hear the complaining voice again. I look around and everything's moving again. What!? Why did everything move again? How am I supposed to save time now? Slightly depressed, I walk to my room and spend the rest of the day preparing for a math test on Monday.
