Now Sui was watching for a chance to throw Ito. Examining the wolf closely and how it stepped rather than watching the whole wolf to know when it was about to strike. She kept her shift in gaze just subtle enough to hopefully not set off the wolf.
So now the question is what is the major concern… It’s certainly having the wolf swipe Ito out of the air. She might not survive that. I should probably wait right until the wolf plants its foot securely…
But which foot. I’d have to throw Ito pretty wide to avoid an issue and if I throw her and over the wolf might take the chance to jump at her and that would be just as bad. Sui pursed her lips trying to take in the entirety of the wolf.
No I think upwards is probably the best idea. Throw up and take a threatening step forward. Indicating it will have to let Ito land or risk getting stabbed by me. I don’t think the wolf will see her as a large enough threat to expose it’s neck to me.
Sui nodded, and Ito prepared the string, taking a bunch into Sui’s skin so that it was unravelled, untangled, but didn’t impede her movements. Ito then moved the string and herself towards the back of Sui’s hand.
This of course didn’t go unnoticed. Why are you moving to the back of my hand. I can’t throw you from there… unless. Sui started to imagine whipping her hand out with Ito leaving at just the right time.
Does momentum even work like that though? Ito poked a single leg out and tapped her hand once signalling that yes it did work like that. Ok then Ito get ready. Sui sharpened her focus to a needle’s point.
Just as the wolf lowered its left foot Sui flung out her right arm containing Ito. She soared just as intended. The wolf started to move back, seemingly going for its hind legs but Sui hissed and stepped forward with her scissors ready
This caused the wolf to hesitate just long enough for Ito to complete her arc and land on the wolf. While the two where still sizing each other up Ito bit into the wolf. The wolf didn’t even finch, but Sui saw the change
The area around where Ito had bitten started to die itself white. A spiderweb started to grow from that point, before topping once it was 15cm across. Ito then ducked into the wolf and took the fishing line with her.
Sui kept her circling, but now she had a direct line to the wolf. It didn’t exactly do much just yet though. The wolf was hardly reacting at all once it felt Ito disappear returning its focus almost entirely to Sui.
Sui held the line steady not making any sudden movements. It was currently dangling off the right side of the wolf. Sui waited until she saw that Ito was settled and started to plan her next move, hoping that Ito would understand.
Now or never. Sui flicked her wrist around, trying to loop the fishing line around the wolf’s neck. As soon as the wolf spotted movement it tried to jump back and away from the line, but it was already imbedded in its skin by Ito
The loop however was getting further away, and looked to not be long enough when the wolf hit the fence and stopped dead as faint ripple went through the air. Ito used this chance to catch that thread with the end she’d already delivered.
Completing the loop then diving back into the web, Ito pulled the string as taut as she could. Sui pulled the other end at first but once the wolf realised what she was doing it growled and leapt towards her.
This story has been taken without authorization. Report any sightings.
Sui had been waiting for this though and let the string fall from her grasp and dive forward. Because her hands were occupied, her scissors were unready for a strike but Sui settled for a successfully roll under the swiping claws.
This only turned into a bad long term plan by the wolf though, because now the fishing line was taught and running beneath it pressing up against its legs as it tightened around its throat. The wolf reacted instinctively and tried to turn around to strike again but only managed to twist the string around its two front legs
Sui tried to pull it tighter, but found her strength lacking. Ito did her best as well, but even with the advantage her strange ability gave her, it wasn’t enough to tighten the line from her end either.
Sui’s eyes narrowed as the wolf recovered somewhat and carefully strode forward. Sui dashed to the side, hoping to further tangle the wolf’s legs and use its own power against it. Sadly for the wolf it took the bait. Seeing Sui’s dash it tried to take a swipe at her
Sui saw it coming a mile away and managed to throw herself to the ground but not before sending out more fishing line.
As the wolf retracted its paw to get ready for another strike it found itself on the ground. When it had pulled its paw backwards it had tightened the strings grip on its other two legs significantly sending it crashing to the ground.
Sui hurried to regain her feet, and as she did so Ito was not idle. Seeing the wolf wasn’t able to struggle directly against the string for the moment Ito quickly wrapped her end around the front leg recently tied before dipping back into the wolf’s skin further tightening their hold on the beast.
Once Sui was on her feet she tried to run past and trap the fourth and final leg. She managed to make it around the snapping jaws by giving them a wide birth. Just when she thought she was safe however the back leg kicked forward towards her approaching form.
Sui hadn’t been prepared and the beast’s knee came for her. Sui tried to duck to the side but her shoulder was clipped sending her spinning. Sui quickly discarded the line on her arm realising even in her pain addled state it would do her more harm then good.
Ito however was still on the ball. Using the last of her fishing line Ito sneaked around the leg that had just kicked Sui. Being very careful to remain unnoticed Ito slipped the line around the last of the wolf’s legs before diving into the skin and securing the string.
Sui quickly recovered from her wound and groggily stood up. Pressing through the pain she noticed the wolf mostly bound for now, so she looked for the fishing line. Finding it throw off to the side Sui rain for the bundle.
The wolf seeing this struggled once again to stand up, but due to Ito’s grand work only succeeded in tightening the wire around its throat. The moment Sui grabbed the line once more she turned back to finish the wolf off. And it vanished.
As it did so Ito dropped out of mid air right in the place she was sitting within the wolf’s skin. Sui quickly reeled in the fishing line and started walking towards Ito as she did so.
Realising the spider was fine, she let herself relax completely. Sui dropped to the ground as Ito crawled over to her. Sui started to breathe deeply as if trying to make up for lost oxygen. That was a hell of a fight.
Congratulations Sui, round five has been completed. As a bonus reward for passing the first milestone you may choose one basic skill for Ito and yourself. You will also receive a 48 hour resting period.
Sui acknowledged the message and when she did a massive wall of text exploded out in front of her eyes. Enough garbage. Show me anything to improve my needlework.
Requirements for Achievement, Thread’s Disciple met. Unlocking Reward
Due to Thread’s Disciple Sui and Ito have been granted access to Uncommon skills relating to Thread.
A much smaller and more manageable list appeared in front of Sui. Now this is what I’m talking about. There was only a few on the list, and Sui decided to start from the top.
Tailoring Bundle
Contains all related common tailoring skills.
See further details.
Why is this first one blanked out already? I thought I got all uncommon thread skills.
As soon as the question was asked an answer appeared.
Sui’s mortal abilities already exceed the limits of this skill. Selecting this skill would grant Sui nothing, and has thus been disabled.
Sui grinned at the notice. Your damned right I know about tailoring. It actually makes a lot of sense that I wouldn’t be able to select it. A little silly it’s still in the list but I’ll forgive them just this once.
The reason of course Sui was so forgiving of ‘wasting her time’ was because of the entry for the next skill in line…
