Chap 2- the system

When I was finally able to see it was quite a different setting than my dorm room. I was in a very, very, VERY large room. Oh, and I was pretty much surrounded by people. It was also very loud, people talking all at the same time, screaming and doing various other things people do when panicking.

In the very front of the room there was what looked to be a huge flat screen or something similar to it. Which is weird being able to see it since I am so far away from it but it doesn't seem that far away. Anyway after a few minutes of absolute hysteria the screen finally came on

"GREETINGS EARTHLINGS!!". the person on the screen said while probably breaking all our collective eardrums. "Oh sorry, sorry it was on max transmission." The announcer apologized in a much more reasonable tone. "Anyway you Earthings…i mean Earthlings are now apart of our system Congratulations!!"

"But you Earthlings are not strong enough to survive in our system as of right now. So in order to prepare you, you'll be entering a tutorial of sorts." The announcer said all of this with a smile that freak me the fuck out. "Don't look so scared Earthings..I mean Earthlings"

"The Tutorials will be quite simple and in order for you to have the best shot at surviving we will be giving you tokens" as he said this I got a ping

'ping: Congratulations you have been rewarded one 'class token', one 'class skill token', one 'skill token', one 'trait token', one 'armor token', one 'weapon token', and ten 'free attributes token'.

"I'm sure all of you just received the promised tokens, these tokens are made by the system in order to make it easier for newly gained populations to have an easier time with integration"

"Each token can be traded in with the system shop, to access the system you just need to think about the part of the system you want to access, like the shop, your status, etc. But please hold off on doing any of that until I'm done explaining."

"Now onto explaining the various tokens. Class tokens are tokens that give classes, classes are like jobs in your world but are more of the killing type job. In order to get better and rarer classes you need to spend more tokens, in order to advance your class you need to spend more tokens on the class. In order to get class tokens you need to level, you get class tokens at every tenth level. You can also get any type of tokens as rewards for doing things the system deems as unique or of something worth a reward."

"Class skill tokens are tokens used for skills in the class, each class has a total of ten class slots so choose skills wisely. Better skills cost more, to advance skills cost tokens. You get class skill tokens at every fifth level"

"Skill tokens are used to gain skills. Skills can be gained naturally but it's harder and just easier to use tokens. Same premise as to get better skills. There are no limit to skills, but nearly all of them are not used directly for combat. They are also given out at every fifth level."

"Trait tokens are quite rare and useful they aren't necessarily a skill but apart of your very being. They can't be upgrade but they can be practiced and will advance as you level. The are only given out as rewards. Armor and Weapon tokens are used to gain…well armor and weapons. Better cost more and most can't be advanced. They are only given out as rewards."

"Attribute tokens improve your attributes. They are rewarded at every level. You get only one token at every level, but you can get more per level if you have a class. The system can reward you with them. They can come as free attributes or attribute specific tokens."

"Some more various other info there are professions you can get but you can only get them as a reward but if you use it and get a profession it then acts and as the same system as the class tokens and class skill tokens. The system can also reward titles, titles give bonuses and sometimes negative things as well. It can also give out skills, classes, class skills, and other things without the use of tokens. If it deems necessary."

"Now you all have twenty minute to spend tokens and get into parties before you get sent off to your tutorials, to join or to invite a person into a party just touch someone and think party. Now good luck and have fun."

After he said this the screen turned off. Well…fuck that was on hell of an info dump. He said to just think of what we wanted so…status

Well that was interesting, but why are there so many stats, that'll be a bitch to keep track of. Anyway it seems all around i'm pretty even, although my charisma is a bit low which makes sense. Since I never really have a social life at all. I wonder what all these stats mean though. Oh what if I just think it to the system 'what do stats do?' And nothing, thanks for nothing system. Well anyway I need to buy things. What do I need first, well probably class since that will determine what I need to get after words so 'class shop?'

Class Shop

Basic Warrior: cost: 1

Basic Archer: cost: 1

Basic Rogue: cost: 1

Basic Brawler: cost: 1

Apprentice Mage: cost: 1

Acolyte Healer: cost: 1

After those options it was all grayed out. Now what do I want, Mage sounds kinda cool but not really my style, the healer also out, to reliant on others. Archers also out, I have terrible aim and I don't feel like having to keep upkeep on arrows. Now rogue, warrior, and brawler. Harder choices, I like rogues because stealing and stabbing are pretty fun in games. Warrior because I feel like its more well rounded. Then there brawler which at first seems kinda weak compared to the others but it's what I'm most comfortable with. Hard choice, oh well I'm just going to choose brawler.

'ping: Congratulations you have become a Basic Brawler gain +1 free, +1 dexterity, +1 strength, +1 perception per level.

Well that's nice, moving on. What about class skils. And just like that the menu appeared.

Class skill shop: Basic Brawler:

Harden fist: cost: 1

Power Blow: cost: 1

Fast Step: cost: 1

The rest were grayed out again. Now what to choose. Harden fist well makes my fist harder so it can punch harder while taking less damage. Power blow increases damage by two. Fast step is a closing distance skill but not by much. I'll just go with Harden fist.

'ping: Congratulations you have gained the class skill Harden fist, it can harden your fist to be as sturdy as steel for 30 seconds with a 10 second cooldown. Costs 10 stamina per use.

Ah feels good to get so many new things. Well let's take a look at skills.

Skills shop:

Basic Inspection: cost: 1

Danger Sense: cost: 1

Rest: cost: 1

Clean: cost: 1

There were a few more available but didn't feel like going through them all so I just chose Basic Inspection. Some might say it was rash or stupid to jusr choose something but I'll be going to a new place with practically no knowledge so I think it will be quite useful.

'ping: Congratulations you have gained the skill Basic Inspection. Focus on an individual or item and some basic information will appear. Cost 5 mana.

I'll probably have to dump a lot of tokens in it for it to be useful. Now time for traits.

Traits shop:

Good Eyes: cost: 1

Fast Learner: cost: 1

Better Body: cost: 1

Better Mind: cost: 1

Better Personality: cost: 1

Healthy: cost: 1

Everything else was grayed out. Good eyes increase eyesight and better natural night vision. Faster learner increased double the rate at which you learn skills. Better body gave a slight increase to physical stats. Better mind gave slight increase in mental stats. Better Personality gave slight incense in the more unique stats. Healthy gave a permanent boost to health. Wait a minute, the fast learner trait. How interesting, the announcer was really against trying to get natural skills. Does who ever in charge want use to be reliant on tokens. Well I'm a spiteful bastard so I going to choose it to be difficult.

'ping: Congratulations you have gained the trait fast learner. It will double the rate at which you learn skills.

When I was about to move onto to armor I just remembered I was only in my boxers. Well no wonder why I was getting so many stares. Oh well I'll deal with it later

Armor shop:

Leather pants: cost: 1

Leather boats: cost: 1

Leather bracers: cost: 1

Leather tunic: cost: 1

Leather helm: cost: 1

Those were my options. I felt like pants were the best choice but denied my brains modesty. I chose the tunic because for better protection of my vitals.

'ping: Congratulations you have been given a leather tunic. Gives a slight damage reduction. Durability 20/20.

The tunic appeared in midair and I grabed it and quickly put it on. Now time for weapons.

Weapons shop

Crude Sword: cost: 1

Crude Bow and Arrows: cost: 1

Basic dagger: cost: 1

Basic studded leather gloves: cost: 1

Crude wand: cost: 1

It was pretty obvious what I chose and I quickly put them on. Now time to distribute points. After some thought I put 4 into strength and dexterity, and then one each in endurance and vitality. After all this I decided to check all the changes in my status
