{The game has commenced.}

Simon, together with Alice, Pyro, and Desmond, teleported to different places. Alice and Simon are at one point on the map, while Pyro and Desmond are at the opposite of their position. At the other end of the Colosseum

Between them, there were just concrete walls and barriers that didn’t let them just shoot straight at each other. They’d have to first get close, aim, and unleash hell with the bullets. The first game is for Alice and Desmond.

To be honest, the operative was unsure about both of these people. The one time he played with Alice was not enough to make a proper judgment, and he could only guess that they were even because of their arcade stage.

The surprising part for him appeared to be Pyro's not being very good at PVP. This many hours in playtime… No, there was definitely something wrong. It was fated for the young one to have great skills with so many hours of practice in this game. It was just impossible to not. If he could pull up with this kind of accuracy in this game, because of his real occupation, then the gamer would be able to do better in the game.

*Bang!*

The match started after Simon and Pyro had withdrawn themselves from a platform. They had an upper view now on this versus. It was a wild beginning, and it is understandable why it was so. If they had those additional weapons they could throw from a distance, why not use them?

In the first minute of the match, Desmond was using them entirely. He had already thrown two explosives. He fogged the distance between them with a smoke grenade as well, and just like that, he moved forward.

Simon realized that Desmond was no idiot. This is the simplest and best way to defeat your enemy. Use everything that you have to inflict harm.

It reminded him of how specialized units operate in the army, with their enormous supplies of weaponry. No wonder their success rate is much higher than just a regular branch. It’s tested and proven... If this kind of violence doesn’t work, then it means you don’t use enough of it.

‘Dang it, he isn’t letting me to move.’

Alice was hiding behind the barriers to not get hit. Desmond wasn’t going to let her rest and aim at him, no, he’d pressure her till he was the one to kill her. He had enough supplies to last till some point, and he was going to use them.

There was another loud bang. The third one, to be exact, meant the last explosive grenade the young guy had. Alice jumped out of her hiding spot and ran in zig-zags to avoid bullets. With her light and compact rifle, it was easier to move around.

*Ra-ta-ta-ta!*

Desmond jumped out of the corner, anticipating this move by the platinum-haired girl. Even though she tried to shoot back, her plate carrier was heavily damaged. The plate was pierced by a few bullets. The guy grinned. That’s why he took a higher caliber weapon; it worked as intended.

Alice slumped with her back on the concrete wall. “Damn!” She loudly cursed, not expecting him to be so precise. This one will be tougher, and she can’t disappoint Simon in this one!

Too bad this wasn’t the mode where you could’ve switched the plate in your plate carrier. Unfortunately, her death in this round was guaranteed. One hit and she is most likely dead.

Alice threw a grenade from a corner, to do some kind of damage. No, it exploded, but no damage was done. Desmond ran away from that place a long time ago.

*Bang!* *Bang!*

Two loud shots were heard, and the concrete wall Alice had her back on began to shake because of the high caliber bullets. They smashed into the concrete wall, and it began to crumble. The girl ran away, with the health bar showing that she had less than a half.

More shots and more explosions.

{Your teammate, “PlatinumAlice”, has been killed by the player “Dreadnought”.}

Simon received the notification. In this mode, Alice was still technically his teammate, which is why it showed this again. They were in a team but played one versus one. This was kind of expected, by the way…

Simon predicted it would go in this way. Desmond utilized his additional weapons with great efficiency, distracted Alice with loud bangs, and shot her with high-caliber weapons; no matter where the bullet landed, it did a lot of damage. Alice could kill when those supplies ran out... but the kill count was different.

“Come on! This is unfair!” Alice yelled in frustration.

Pyro from the platform replied, “Why?”

“This isn’t pure one versus one! He uses grenades and everything else his armor can hold. Meanwhile, I only chose smoke grenades at the beginning!”

“I don’t see what is unfair here; we are playing Breach!” Desmond also chimed into a conversation with a loud shout from a different place.

This mode can be vastly different from other games. What most people forget about this game is that it was the closest to reality. Your speed and reflexes alone weren't important here. Those who cracked the system completely and utilized every advantage they were given were becoming pros.

Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.

Alice was still stuck with the old mentality.

“Okay, so you want to play without additional gear, right? Let’s do it!”

Nonetheless, Desmond was up to play without using the grenades to his advantage. Respect earned from Simon, man didn’t complain and just accepted it. ‘He is sure of it.’ The confident look on Desmond's face was enough to deduce… He already felt Alice’s skill firsthand. He could win.

“Alright, do you want to switch gears?” Pyro asked Desmond, but the latter just shook his head. “Then just continue without using grenades.”

The versus between the two was carried on, and this time, yes, they were evenly matched.

{Your teammate, “PlatinumAlice”, has killed the player “Dreadnought”.}

Either it was Alice who got the kill, or it was Desmond. It was a pretty intense battle, and watching from the sidelines was interesting. Simon could observe and possibly remember Desmond's habits. He wasn't aiming for a quick kill, he was very cautious and didn't rush at his enemy.

Alice's quick way of playing was negated by her opponent, who chose his position to control most of the space. From one corner, Desmon could see the entirety of the paths around him and his eyes could see Alice. Her speed and quick thinking were no joke. She was trying to improvise and taunt him, but it didn't work.

Unfortunately for Alice, she couldn't outsmart high-caliber bullets. She killed Desmond using her mobility and reflexes. He was slower than her in that aspect. Simon Riley was intrigued. A little bit more experience... and speed, and this guy will be just like him. This game was, indeed, something else. 'Shame it was about drugs.

'No…he is still good.' Thought Alice about Desmond.

*Ra-ta-ta!*

The mini projectiles burst out of the submachine gun’s muzzle and, with a tingling sound, hit the metallic defense of Desmond. The plate carriers were lifesavers here. If you have a good one, then you won’t die from the first few bullets. If you get hit in the chest.

‘Dang it, I still can’t aim at the head.’

Obviously, the nervousness began to build up in Alice. She didn’t want to lose in front of Simon after she asked Desmond to change his playing style. But damn… Alice didn’t expect an opponent to match her.

The operative, on the other hand, was amused. ‘This girl…’ he chuckled to himself. If she wasn’t nervous, she’d do so much better.

“Desmond is winning. He’ll win no matter what Alice does at this stage.” Pyro commented after seeing the match’s statistics.

{ Blue : 17 - 14 : Red }

Alice was losing but just by 3 points. She caught up to the previous gap between her and Desmond. Earlier, he was spamming grenades; now he wasn’t. Alice was trying very hard, and it worked. She had a bad start but improved at the end tremendously. ‘Next time it will be better.’ She hummed and calmed herself down.

The timer was approaching its end, there was less than a minute left. Desmond already accepted his win and was less focused on it, this couldn’t be said about his opponent though. With her mobile avatar, she tackled onto the ground and slid on the dusty floor smoothly. *Pew* A single bullet hit the guy’s head.

{“PlatinumAlice”, has killed the player “Dreadnought”.}

“That’s what you deserve. Hmph!” In the end, her voice seemed much more agitated. “Didn’t you know? You must go easy on a lady.” She was joking, and it was well received by others. Alice wasn’t serious about that, of course.

“Haha.” Everyone laughed.

{ Blue : 17 - 15 : Red }

The match was over, and the participants were teleported back to their starting location.

Desmond looked at Alice and smirked, “I still won, lady.” The latter avoided the glance and looked away, with a ‘hpmh.’ The two teenagers thought she was a tsundere...

“Hm, so it’s my turn now?” Dreadnought heard someone say. He looked at his next opponent with wide eyes. ‘Shit, I forgot about that guy!’

Alice was quite a challenging opponent, but this guy was more dangerous. Yes, it was only one game, but his statistics were unreal! Definitely, this guy was better than Alice, and there was no doubt about that in his mind.

“Desmond, do you want to change your layout?” Pyro asked.

“No, I’m ready.”

Pyro gave a glance at Simon, who nodded with confidence. He shrugged, allocated the teams, and then pressed the start button. The same countdown appeared in front of the players, and they once again got teleported.

{The game has commenced.}

“Good luck, Desmond.” Pyro patted his classmate on the shoulder after wishing him luck and moved up to the platform.

Desmond sighed, “Wehoo, why do I feel like this will be torture.” He grabbed his gun and ran towards the center of the Colosseum. For some unknown reason, the nervousness was now rising in him.

Come on, who doesn’t hate losing? Especially after betting that he was better.

Desmon had to win somehow. Even if camping in one place was necessary, he was going to do it. He moved forward to take a position as quickly as possible. His boots slammed onto the ground and raised a cloud of dust. His stamina bar was slowly going down.

‘I know a good position.’ If he could view the exit of the opponent’s spawn point, he could very well camp there. Pyro was more of a camper than he was. It’s okay if he does it once against a strong opponent.

Desmond run out of the corner. He was at the center of this map, approaching the place he was thinking about...

But,

*Bang!* *Thud!*

The bullet landed right on his head, and he was knocked down because the health bar lowered tremendously.

‘What the…’

*Clank*

Something metallic ricocheted from the concrete wall and landed next to Desmond. His eyes were locked on that thing…it was a grenade. *Boom.*

{“Deadropper”, has killed the player “Dreadnought.}

The first question that appeared in Desmond’s mind was, ‘How the hell did he do that?’ He would soon receive an answer to that, but until then... His plan should be changed now because it was too late.

Simon has been studying this map from above. He can remember it like his own five fingers now...

That’s the operator of SSSA, just doing what he usually does...
