*Author's Note*
Sorry for the delay guys. Real life didn’t like me with all the deadlines this month.
Furthermore, a family member- who my family and I took care of- in my house passed away this month too. We are in the 40 day mourning period and it’s getting better slowly.
:perche:
Of course I am not telling you all this for nothing…
As tribute for this passed family member, I will create a character in this story just for them as well as a setting and plot. This character will be introduced somewhere in ARC 1. IF someone can can figure out which character it is at the END of the arc then I will answer any question pertaining to a setting, current/previous plots, or a character in the story. There will also be many opportunities to narrow down your search.
(BTW you are free to skip my notes but… I wouldn’t recommend it… information runs the world people and I give hints in a lot of unexpected spots…
------------------------------------
Onto the next subject…
It seems the results of the poll tells me that if Void Legends reaches the top 50 you guys want a new chapter instead of a question answered. So be it. I will keep my end of the bargain. Question is what kind of chapter? Do you guys want a side story or just an extra chapter? Well I’ll have a poll for you guys to decide on what you want so there’s no complaints...
Well I did warn you that this series will be very reader interactive (pending on your definition of it) since I put so many puzzles for you guys to have fun solving. BUT hurry up solving them or it will become too easy later. Exception is the major plot, story, character and et cetera types of puzzles…
(So… does that make me evil?… You decide and have fun while I sit back and enjoy. lol.)
:keuhkeuh:
------------------------------------
Moving on~
I told you guys that I would clear up any confusion you have to the best of my ability
Okay everyone, IF you noticed, in chapter 3 the last, little part was in third person… but it was a POV…
So big question is… who is it… leave your guesses in the comment section and we will see if you are right later on in the story…
In addition, a fellow fan of yours has asked some great questions and, luckily for you guys, I was given permission to reveal our conversation with you. So everyone give a hand to Promicent !!!
:goodjob:
Promicent’s questions were:
Who is the MC? Sora, Sophos or both?
Will I make this story with 2 different world/dimension that connect together?
Sora is Sophos or sophos is sora?
Who is having the dream?
Are they entirely 2 different people?
My response:
I feel that all my fans have the same question as you now that you mention it and yes I did this on purpose and you were told before... remember when I said my MC was very unique compared to other novels at his expense.
*evil, sadistic laughter can be heard in the background*
Sorry but you will have to answer those questions yourself but don't worry I will clarify in the next chapter... funny how in sync you are with me... and scary...
Do you mind if I mention this conversation in the next chapter...
If you really don't want people to know it was you, I can refer you as an anonymous fan…
------------------------------------
Seriously… this guy is somewhat scary.
He kinda guesses on most of my puzzles and gets them right. Fortunately my red herrings are working and are making him double guess on some right facts. I’m happy my plot isn’t that predictable.
I have digressed a bit there... back to his questions! Those questions are part of my story / plot. The reason I said give a hand to him is that he just literally asked the questions you have to answer and continuously answer to… how do I say it… level up?... or rather, more accurately, move to the next puzzle.

NOTICE
I decided to change this in how I write since I found a problem that could lead to confusion with telepathy. Before it was italics is for both thoughts and telepathy, but this has issues further along in the plot that I planned for Vol. 1. Furthermore, I do this more often subconsciously…
- TEXT - is for important stuff/ reader interactive stuff/ change in POV
- *text* - is for emphasized sounds/ noise/ actions
- [text] - is for telepathy

Chapter 4
YEAR 2266
Over the last 200 years the gaming world has gone through various evolutions and revolutions. There is one company, one corporation that was the leading battleship and always on top of the rest… That company is Phoenix Incorporated.
On the memorable day of July 6th of the year 2066, the first virtual reality game was introduced to the world by them. Of course there were so many issues with it, if you compared it with the current VR technology of today of course.
The reason being was that the concept of VR was still in it’s baby phase; where the only way to enter the game was with a special type of wireless helmet, gloves, boots, and a jacket that had many features and sensors. To play you had to play in a large padded room without any obstacles. Furthermore, there had to be a special type of sensor on the wall so that you didn’t run into it.
The first and only game to be released with it was called Void Legends. It only had one really large kingdom and the game developers only told the people very few rules. They said that people had figure out everything themselves. What they did say was that you could do anything except player kill or rape/attack people. You were only allowed to attack NPCs and monsters. They also advised against cheating and hacking into the system as it will revoke all rights to buy/play their products. No one knew why some of these rules were placed into effect and still don’t.
After 50 years of various development and stuff by the players of Void Legends, they discovered the ability to form many guilds, own property, advance classes and et cetera. They made saw many sights and fought many monsters and found many labyrinths. The biggest discovery was the labyrinth under the king’s castle in the kingdom which people started calling the nameless kingdom because neither the NPC nor the game creators mention the name of it. Six months before the 50 year anniversary some players actually reached the end of the ruins and found a obelisk. When they went up to it and touched it a notice appeared to all the people of Void Legends…
Congratulations!!!
The Beta has now been beaten and the door to Void Legends can finally start to open!
All players will be forced to log out in 10 minutes so please prepare yourself...
Of course they were shocked, excited, and very confused by the text. An hour of chaos occurred throughout the entire world from this event and it was all over the news. It was until the next day at noon that the game developers made an announcement.
They announced that all VR equipment that were made by them were to be returned and be replaced. People were curious and further shocked by this announcement because the developers didn’t even hold the announcement for what they wanted to know about. The only thing they had to say about the game was THIS:
“Finally the beta test was beaten… You won’t believe how boring and long the wait was… although it was all within calculations… the next phase of the game can now begin at last…”
After this the announcer just left and the video of the announcement ended. The level of mystery concerning the company and the game itself skyrocketed to world-record breaking limits within 3 hours.
*The video lecture stops*
???: We will continue and delve deeper into this lecture throughout the course of the year. You will have an essay about this later. This is vital to economics of today so make sure you are taking good notes and paying attention. Okay?”
Class: “Yes…”
*The professor starts to leave and the next one enters soon afterwards*
???: “Morning class. We will continue from where we left off last. We were learning about Trigonometry. Who can tell me the derivative of sin(x) ?”
Class: “...”
???: “Does anybody remember?... Sora! How about you? Can you tell us the answer?”
*Sora jumps from his desk and looks at the board and blinks at the words*
Sora: “Huh?! Uhh…Trigonometry huh… Isn’t it cos(x) ?”
*Sora says that while scratching his cheeks*
???: “Yes, you are correct Sora. Thank you. Now please stop staring out the window and start paying attention to the lesson and everything will be great.”
Sora: “Sorry Ms. Hina”
(Until a character is introduced they will be left as ???. The exception is unless the person who’s POV it is currently in names the ??? person.)
*Sora sits down and starts looking at his textbook instead of the window that he was looking at out of boredom*
Ms. Hina: *mumble* “I still can’t get used to being called that.”
It’s been really hard to concentrate on what’s going around me with that weird dream I had last night. I wonder what it was all about. The dreams feel so vivid yet...oh I don’t know… they don’t feel like my own… That’s it! That’s what feels so odd about it all. It feels more like I’m watching a movie than dreaming. I don’t usually dream when I’m sleeping but when I do they’re really blurry as if something is fogging up my eyes. I also have difficulty remembering all the contents from the dream as well…
*As Sora wanders in his thoughts while staring at the calculus textbook his head starts nodding and his conscience starts to fade…*

Sophos’s POV
The pain dulls and the darkness starts to recede as I start to regain consciousness. I keep my eyes closed and wait until the pain becomes bearable enough for movement.
Aghh… FUCK!
This is becoming such a pain in the ass. It will be seriously dangerous if I can’t get these episodes of fainting and unconsciousness under control if not stopped. Why in hell are they happening anyway. I know I had headaches when I was younger sometimes but it was never this severe. Furthermore, why do I feel more… full… mentally after waking up every time. What is going on?...
I open my eyes and see Ana sitting right next to me on my right. She was looking at me with big worried and with teary eyes.
This novel is published on a different platform. Support the original author by finding the official source.
Ana: “Finally, you woke up! I was really worried! What happened?! Why did you suddenly collapse?!”
I, get up slowly and slowly, put my left arm around my left knee and start patting her head until she starts to calm down and then say to her gently…
Sophos: “Sorry for worrying you. Unfortunately, I don’t know exactly why that happened. All I know is that I just lose consciousness for a while. So… how long was I out this time?”
Ana: “An hour or so…”
Sophos: “Hmm… Ah hour huh?”
I get up slowly and start stretching again. I notice that the food for breakfast wasn’t touched at all and remains where it was before my episode. I walk over to it and hand the bread that I spread jam over and hand it to Ana once more.
Sophos: *Sigh* “You should have eaten while I was unconscious. Oh well. Shall we eat together then?”
Ana puffs up her cute little cheeks and responds in a cute voice fitting her age...
Ana: “Mou~ How do you expect me to eat when you suddenly fall on the floor.”
Sophos: “Well I did tell you beforehand… but I understand what you mean so let’s finish our breakfast or should I call it lunch now?”
Ana takes the slice of bread and we finish all the food pretty quickly. Only then did I realise how hungry I was. Well, considering all that I went through within the last twenty-four hours it was understandable.
After we finished our meal, we got up started finishing up the last few remaining things before leaving the village. I proceeded to pour oil over all buildings. Well to be more specific, I poured oil in the first floor of the buildings. Furthermore, I made sure to connect them to the pile of corpses. While I was doing this Ana gone around to double check every building for possible items like food, money and et cetera. After all I couldn’t let ten year old little girl deal with corpses.
By the time I was done, I returned to the corpses and noticed that they piled up to around three meters high and the diameter of the pile was around twenty meters. I boxed the corpses with logs, twigs, and other pieces of wood. Then with the remaining barrels of oil, I poured three full barrels of oil onto the corpses and started soaking a pile of clothes in another barrel. I got a bunch of bricks and boulders to hold the logs and wood in place.
The sun had already set more than halfway past the horizon by the time I was done and I saw that Ana was too. Ana and I had a dinner of bread, berries, fruit, and milk. We gathered our traveling bags and tied them on my horse. Then, I put Ana on the horse and took her to the southern edge of the village.
Sophos: “Stay here and watch! I’ll put the corpses and buildings on fire. It will be dangerous if one of the buildings suddenly collapses while we start leaving. Make sure the horse doesn’t run wild. Okay?”
Ana looked like she wanted to argue but in the end accepted my choice and nodded. I started jogging back to the village at a steady pace. In 13 minutes I got back in the borders and soon stood in front of the corpses. With the intent to light the spark for this mass fire, I took out a match...
Now to light the fire and burn it all down. It’s time to say farewell and end this…
While I was thinking this I started to see humanoid silhouette in front of me. It was like a mirage you would see from too much heat and light… yet the sky was already embraced by the darkness of night… the light of day had already passed and wouldn’t appear till the next day began. Suddenly the silhouette started raising it’s hand towards the corpses. Unknowingly, my hand soon mimicked the same action.
Wha-What?!
What’s going on?! Why am I raising my hand?! What the fuck is in front of me?!
WHAT THE FUCK IS HAPPENING RIGHT NOW?!!!
*Sophos takes a deep breath and exhales slowly*
Let’s calm down now… It can’t be too bad… All I’m doing is raising my hand… It’s not as if it’s the end of the world…
As I have these thoughts I start to enter a state of shock because I started to notice that some ghostly light was gathering around the silhouette's hand…
But that’s wasn’t what put me in a state of shock due to being unable to comprehend the current situation… What shocked me was that light was starting to gather around my hand as well…
I had no idea how nor as to why… All I knew was that it just is...
Wha…
*groaning* What is it now?!
[ Calm down! ]
Who?!
[ Stop whining and repeat after me… You will understand later as to what’s happening… ]
I seriously don’t know what’s going on anymore, but my instincts told me to just go with it. In addition, the voice sounded strangely familiar… I just couldn’t remember from where. As the voice started chanting something, I repeated what it said.
[ I command the will of mana to gather~ ]
The pale ghostly light started to brighten and… I guess thicken...
[ Let the world be filled the burning light of beginnings~ ]
The pale ghostly light stopped being pale and ghostly. Instead it started to shine a bit brighter and started giving off heat.
[ Let the first spark to light the first flame be lit once more~ ]
The light changed color from white to a mix of yellow, orange, and red. Oddest thing was that eventually it stopped changing at a golden color with orange hues. The surroundings on the other hand were strangely tinted in red even though the flame was golden like...
[ I command you to purify and grant peace to all that you touch]
The flame disappeared and then suddenly a small orb of light the size of a grain shot out from the front of my hand. It went into the middle of the pile of corpses.
[ Come forth! “Holy Flame of Genesis”! ]
The pile of corpses started to glow a golden aura and were soon devoured by the light bursting out from within the center of it. It expanded and kept expanding. My instincts told me to run for my life. They were practically yelling to get the hell out of there NOW.
In 5 minutes, I sprinted back to Ana and the horse and turned around to see a golden glow from within the center of the village be more and more noticeable.
Ana looks at me in confusion and back at the village. Then she gasps as if she finally noticed the glow from the village.
Ana: “Um… What’s going on? I don’t see any fire but I do see some sort of glow from the village.”
Sophos: “Don’t ask because I can’t explain it properly right now. It’s just… I don’t know what happened in the village when I tried to light the corpses. This just happened…”
As soon as I was done talking, the glow was definitely more noticeable now. After all, instead of a dim average glow from the village that started seven minutes ago from whatever it is that I did. What we see now is the glow from a FREAKING PILLAR OF LIGHT. What I found funny was that I LITERALLY couldn’t see the end of it rising in the sky.
Half a minute later a golden fire spontaneously started from the entire village. It looked as if the fire was slowly rising until it surpassed all the buildings and then started swirling around the pillar of light. The pillar of light then started pulsing like a heartbeat. My instincts told me to close my eyes NOW.
Sophos: “Ana! Close your eyes now! Don’t open them until I tell you to!”
Trusting me completely, Ana closed her eyes. I followed suit after covering the eyes of the horse which already was covering it’s eyes, just for insurance.
Suddenly I felt a blast of heat, and it felt as if sunshine was seeping through the cracks of my fingers and onto my eyelids. After what felt like another half a minute, the light faded away. I waited another minute when I felt nothing and saw nothing but darkness from the insides of my closed eyelids. I opened my eyes and removed my hand from my face.
What I saw was the village still burning in flames. They were still golden but had more hues of orange. I looked around and saw that nothing was out of the ordinary. Then, I looked over to Ana and saw that her hands were still covering her closed eyes. I finally took my hand off the eyes of the horse.
Sophos: “Ana. It’s okay to open your eyes now. It’s over.”
After I said that I got on the horse. Ana opened her eyes slowly after removing her hands and looked around. While she observed the village and the surroundings, I was on the horse and was sitting right behind her on the saddle. Ana then looked at me after closing her eyes in a final prayer for the dead. I turned the horse southeast and urge it to start moving forward.
Ana: “So where do we go from here? What will we do?”
The horse started moving slowly before picking up a stable speed. While looking forward I answered Ana’s question.
Sophos: “We are going to the dukedom Septen, in the kingdom of Vetust.”
Ana: “Hmm… Why?”
Sophos: “For various reasons. One I have some more money in a bank over there, under my name of course. There’s also an… old friend… I know there. Furthermore, near Septen there’s something that will help me solve most of my problems and yours too.”
Ana: “My problems? What are you talking about?”
Sophos: “You will find out what I mean soon enough but for now let’s focus on what we will do once we get to Septen. It will around 2 to 3 hours max until we reach the outskirts of Septen’s territory. The terrain of Baratrum isn’t really good for a horse to be able to travel smoothly.”
Under the cover of night, we traveled through the land of Baratrum and soon had the territory of Septen in view.
----------------------------------------
What we learned today:
The developers of the game are jerks...
Sora is a smartass…
Sophos has had the biggest and the most frequent amount of WTF moments in less than 48 hours than the rest of his life...
What was not mentioned:
Most mages around the world are now pissing themselves at what they have experienced in the last 48 hours…
All sentient witness and felt what Sophos “did” in Baratrum and some have made arrangements to find out what happened in Baratrum…
Some less wise mages, in kinder terms, are now heading further North to find out what is happening there...
Sorry this is late! This should have been posted 2 weeks ago but it seems there was a glitch and the chapter didn’t process didn’t actually go through fully. I just checked in now to see my mailbox and know if anyone had questions. Don’t worry the chapter for this month is still being worked on now and will be posted.
:wat:
On the positive note; all the events for Vol. 1 have been planned and now I got to plan the next chapters and then we sail more smoothly. Furthermore, I gained an 2 extra hours per week to work on this! Some of the stuff at worked has calmed down, and now all I have left are some college stuff to deal with and a few, very easy deadlines.
