165: Ridiculous Drill

165: Ridiculous Drill

"Hehe, it's actually with me!"

Su Qing pulled out her pickaxe and handed it to Mei.

"Oh, thanks."

Wang Wei was already striking at the crystals, letting out deafening clinks as he struck with all his strength.

"Let me try!" Mei said, gesturing for him to move aside.

She didn't want to accidentally hit him.

Taking a deep breath to focus, Mei realised all she was doing was making her nostrils cling to the mask like a pair of plungers. Right... she had an airtight mask on. Even though she no longer needed to breathe, it felt as if the wind had been taken out of her sails. Urgh, whatever, Harmonic Strength!

A deafening crystaline sound echoed through the caverns as she bludgeoned the crystal. Wang Wei covered his ears and winced. The crystal was unaffected.

"This crystal is way to strong!" Wang Wei complained.

He tried to dig around the base of the crystal instead, but it was similarly tough.

"Do you think we can get the teleportation formation to teleport it back?" he asked.

"I don't think so..." Mei said.

Right, didn't the Myriad Heavens array run a shop of sorts? Hong Ling bought her a sleepwalking charm back then. Where did it even go?

"Xiao Mei, where did the sleepwalking charm go?" she spoke into her dantian.

The nascent soul jolted.

"I don't know! Hong Ling must have taken it!"

Xiao Mei actually answered? And what was with that reaction? Suspicious...

Come to think of it, Hong Ling said they needed a token to access the shop, right? She wasn't sure where to even get one of those... maybe she should just ask. She took out her teleportation token and channeled her soulsense into it.

"I am... the Myriad Realms Heavn Array..."

Did he seriously have to repeat that every time? Mei was getting sick of it.

"Hey! Senior Myriad Heavens! Hey!"

No response.

"Hey!"

"Hey! Hey!"

A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.

"Hey Hey Hey Hey Hey Hey! Hey-"

"Shut up! What is it?" an elderly voice boomed at her, making her wince.

Meanwhile, Wang Wei and Su Qing were staring from the side, wondering what the hell she was doing screaming at the sect token.

"I want to buy stuff! Can I have your shop token?"

"At least ask with some respect! I'm still a fully fledged sect elder!" the grumpy array yelled. "Whatever. It's beneath me to argue with a junior."

From the air, a golden coin materialised, landing on her palm. On its front, an image of a grandious shop was imprinted, and on its back, a simplified drawing of the array itself.

"Uh, thanks." she said, but got no response.

She walked over to Wang Wei and handed him the token.

"What is that? Where did you get that from?"

Mei gave him a quick rundown, watching as he widened his mouth in awe.

"What? Seriously?" he said. "How doesn't everyone in the sect already know about such an insane shop?"

"Hell if I know." Mei huffed.

Seemed like it was mainly used by spirits only for some reason. Wang Wei stared at the token, then back at her, looking embarrassed.

"Mei... I can't actually use soulsense... yet! Can you help me talk to him?"

Seriously? This unfairly talented young master couldn't? Mei felt so gleeful, she couldn't help but crack a smile.

"Don't laugh!" he cried.

"I'm not, I'm not!" Mei covered her mouth and turned away, only to realise she was touching her mask.

"Wait, how could you tell I was smiling?" she asked.

"Oh, I just sensed it with qi sense."

...

Why were these senses named so confusingly? Mei vaguely remembered divine sense being mentioned too, was that supposed to be yet another sense? Pushing her thoughts aside, she took the golden token from Wang Wei and activated it.

"Let me guess, you want a mining tool. Just take this catalogue and don't waste my time."

A sheet of paper that materialised out of the air. Mei snatched it and handed it to Wang Wei.

"So fast?" he asked.

She shrugged.

As the two of them looked through the page, they quickly realised all the options were drills of sorts. Anti Magic Darkgold Drill, Air Crystal Lightweight Drill, Meteor Steel Impact Dri... and so on. There were a lot of them, but the price tags stunned the two of them.

The cheapest was the Air Crystal Drill, at 4999 Jade, the most expensive all the way up to 349,999 Jade! Even Wang Wei's wealth looked microscopic now.

"Mei, help me ask about the Air Crystal Drill." he said, finally.

Seriously? He was even considering it?

"The Air Crystal Drill condenses surrounding air into a nearly weightless solid to serve as a drill. This also reduces wear and tear, making it require little maintanence. Stabalising formations absorb impact from drilling to prevent the user from losing control over the drill."

"Able to mine ores up to the 5th rank. Use with caution. Instantly destroys the defenses of up to Nascent Soul cultivators. Myriad Heavens Emporium is not responsive for injury or death caused by reckless misuse."

Mei exhaled. What the hell? This wasn't just a drill, it was practically an ultimate weapon! Why even use a proper weapon anymore with a drill that ridiculous?

Wang Wei trembled.

"I'm buying it..." he clutched his fist.

He watched with heartbreak as a pile of precious jade vanished from his bag.

"For someone of your cultivation, you are an impressively large spender! Here, take this."

A red card dropped into his hands.

[VIP Rank 2]

[100/175 Points to Rank 3]

[5% Discount]

What type of overgrown shopping voucher was that? Mei was new to this "points" mechanic. Either way, not that it mattered to her. There was no way she could afford the overpriced junk- Urgh, she couldn't even say that because of how good the items were!

A gun-shaped tool dropped into Wang Wei's hands just as he finished stowing away the card, along with a manual of sorts. After briefly reading through it, he held the drill away from himself gingerly and turned off the safety.

Air rushed into it, causing his hair to sway in the wind.

A transparent drill head as long as a sword materialised, glimmering in the light of the surrounding magma.
