Nove El Corum - Grandmaster's Perspective

Grandmaster’s Perspective.

“What the hell” I caught those words escaping my mouth. I saw from the 3D monitor how she handled the situation.

It didn’t match her age at all. This scenario didn’t match her age at all. This scenario brought your fears to life proportional to how well you could imagine these things. It was a test that would scale based on difficulty, but that test, it was..too real.

The safety procedures should’ve been enacted the moment she neutered that battlefield. We calculated this by evaluating if she has had any similar experiences in her past, and whether this new experience would be tougher than anything she’s gone through.

It was like, if you can tolerate the pain of breaking a bone before, then you should be able to tolerate the pain of stomach ache, that was the first safety procedure.

The second one was that if you couldn’t bear yourself to remember it again, or imagine it again, like your mind sealed it away then that shouldn’t appear. If someone’s Mother died in front of them, and then they forced themselves to forget it the system wouldn’t be able to recreate that experience because they shelved that experience away.

But those two safety procedures broke in this trial. That was clearly tiers above what she could bear, and she never experienced it before. She’s 7, she hasn’t experienced war before, until today. She should’ve been missing so many parts to the essence of war. She shouldn’t have seen the pain of death before, the look of those hopeless ees, just remembering the scene sent shivers down my spine.

Support creative writers by reading their stories on Royal Road, not stolen versions.

I’ve been experienced with war before, but not something so brutal. Where bodies piled upon bodies, where civilians, and soldiers were massacred, where they died together drenched in each other’s bodily fluids.

“Aphereo, Run me a diagnostics” I commanded, “Find out what the hell happened"

“Right away Grandmaster” I looked to my right, a scrawny kid was there. Mid 20’s ruffly hair, singed corners, lava framed glasses, timid attitude. Aphereo, my secretary.

Touching his head with two fingers he walked out of my office.

A beep transmission sounded on my desk, “What is it” I growled I didn’t like that the system failed, that means there was an error in the process.

“W-We can’t find the girl”

“WHAT?!” I growled, deeper. “Explain yourselves”

“We went into the room where you teleported her to, but it was empty.”

“What did the readings in the room say?”

“They malfunctioned right after the illusion ended and once we got in she was gone.”

“What do the machines say now?”

“W-we haven’t checked yet Grandmaster.”

“Tell me the results now.”

“A huge spike in cosmic power, and no heat signatures inside the room”

“So am I safe to assume that she escaped”

“I’m afraid so Grandmaster”

I sighed, damn today wasn’t a good day. If she’s smart enough to escape this facility then she has every right to those portal books and advanced missions. “Aphereo, check the surrounding spatial integrity. Find if anything is out of the ordinary.”

Aphereo’s voice entered my ear, “Yes Grandmaster, I’ll get it done immediately.”

I sighed again. I hope we can resolve this misunderstanding as fast as possible, I’ll need to prepare a gift for her as an apology.
