Vedavalli sat at her desk, surrounded by piles of documents and reports. She was in the middle of preparing for an important meeting with the queen and the kingdom's advisors to discuss the recent border disputes. She had just finished drafting a proposal to increase the number of troops stationed at the border when a messenger knocked urgently at her door.
She opened the door to find a young man, out of breath and covered in dust. He handed her a letter, bearing the seal of Anga. Vedavalli's heart sank as she read the contents of the letter. Prince Mukund was accused of a crime and was on the run.

Elsewhere, Prince Mukund's heart raced as he sprinted through the unfamiliar terrain, his eyes scanning the horizon for any sign of the Malla kingdom. He was bruised and battered, his clothes torn and dirty.
The sound of hooves behind me told me that the soldiers were getting closer. I pushed myself harder, my feet pounding the dirt as I ran. The trees rushed by me in a blur, and I could feel the sweat pouring down my face.
I didn't know how I was going to make it to the border, but I have to keep going. The thought of being captured was too much to bear. I have to keep pushing myself, even as my legs grow tired and my breaths come in gasps.

Finally, I see the border in sight, and I push myself harder, my heart soaring with hope. I am so close, I can feel it!

Vedavalli knew that this was a delicate matter, and her first thought was to bring this to the queen's attention. But, before she could even react, another messenger came with the news that the border guard had reported Prince Mukund crossing the border and that he was being pursued by the neighbouring kingdom's army.
Shaken by the past, a memory so bold
Now history repeats, a new victim in sight
For the kingdom has a reputation so grim
Unjust punishments, their tactics so dim
She had to act fast, if the prince were captured it would mean certain death. She immediately ordered the border guard to help Prince Mukund cross the border and bring him to the palace.
As she sat alone in her chambers, Vedavalli couldn't shake the feeling of unease. She had just made a decision that could change the fate of the kingdom and the prince. But, she knew deep down that it was the right decision.
However, as soon as she presented her plan to the queen and the other advisors, Ojayjit, the chief strategist, opposed her plan vehemently, claiming that it would put the kingdom in danger and that giving asylum to the prince would be a mistake. He argued that they couldn't risk the alliance with the neighboring kingdom for an individual. Vedavalli knew this would not be easy, she had to fight for her plan and convince the queen and the other advisors that it was the right thing to do.
