In this enchanting pub adorned with elegant decor, mystical lamps casting ethereal light and shadow, vivid murals, intricate sculptures, and whimsical trinkets, an atmosphere of otherworldly allure pervaded the air.
As Morgen stepped into the establishment, his countenance gradually regained its composure. Observing no hostile presence after the other party's non-aggressive stance, he concluded that the power of faith had effectively concealed the trace of his bloodline from detection.
Ariel, an elf of level beta plus, remained oblivious to his true nature. Had she discovered it, a violent confrontation would have been inevitable. However, due to this fortunate circumstance, Morgen realized the immense value of pure faith as a protective agent. Without it, he would have faced insurmountable obstacles today.
The reason for Ariel's lack of suspicion lay in the exceptional purity of the faith-based energy enveloping Morgen. The faith of the Dawn cult was founded on principles of self-development, resilience, unity, bravery, and fearlessness. Such noble ideals rendered it impossible for the power of faith to resonate with any dark or negative element. Thus, no matter how keen the senses of an elf may be, it would prove impossible to detect Morgen's presence when shielded by a higher-level force.
"Good evening, Your Majesty," he intoned.
Morgen was about to speak when Amy's subsequent words sent a shockwave through his being.
"Your Majesty, we face grave peril," she uttered, her countenance solemn beyond measure.
"Proceed," he commanded, without further hesitation.
Amy nodded and spoke in hushed tones. "Are you familiar with the Dark Covenant?" Her eyes fixed intently upon Morgen's.
The Dark Covenant?
A faint memory stirred within Morgen's mind, as he recalled the mention of a vice president affiliation with this organization on Amy's attribute panel. However, he had never attributed much significance to it and had neglected to inquire further.
"The Dark Covenant is the most enigmatic and formidable power in Green City," Amy began his exposition. "Within its ranks, one finds abyssal demons, necromancers, worshippers of malevolent gods, underworld kingpins, and even enigmatic beings of profound evil that have never unveiled their identities."
Amy paused briefly before continuing her narrative. "Over two decades ago, I was rescued by the Dark Covenant, and they bestowed upon me the gift of becoming a Shadow Priest. Over the years, I have risen through the ranks, becoming second only to the Bishop in the Knights' Temple, a position made possible by the unwavering support of the Dark Covenant. In turn, I have rendered them many favors."
"When I attained the beta minus level, I became the twelfth vice president of the Dark Covenant, with the organization's consent."
Morgen nodded slightly, as fragments of Amy's experience, including her transformation into a blood descendant, came to mind. However, his recollection lacked the detailed account Amy was now providing.
"What connection does the Dark Covenant have to the Tower of Crimson Mages?" Morgen inquired. Despite the apparent strength of this underground organization, neither the City of Dawn nor the Tower of Crimson Mages had had any prior dealings with it.
Then, as if a realization had dawned upon him, Morgen narrowed his eyes and fixed his gaze upon Amy. "Are you suggesting that the abyssal demon that targeted the Tower of Crimson Mages that fateful day was a member of the Dark Covenant?"
Amy's demeanor grew increasingly grave. "Your Majesty, while I loathe to admit it, that is indeed the truth. The Dark Covenant has set its sights upon the Tower of Crimson Mages, and the demon you encountered was their agent."
After a momentary pause, Amy's voice dropped to a near whisper, carrying a hint of dread. "The Dark Covenant commands the services of at least five beings of the beta level, and their leader, Viscount Bernard, is believed to be on the cusp of transcending into an extraordinary existence."
A surge of trepidation washed over Morgen.
Entities of the beta level and above? And one of them possibly approaching the extraordinary realm??
The weight of the situation bore down upon him heavily.
Although the Tower of Crimson Mages had flourished under his leadership and enjoyed a period of prosperity, its foundations remained fragile. The tower had only been established for three years, and the cultivation of their own mages had been a slow and arduous process.
Additionally, the ancestors of the bloodline had held humans in low regard, resulting in a dearth of skilled manpower, despite Morgen's efforts to rectify this with abundant wealth and resources. This was a common obstacle faced by all nascent powers during their development. Fortunately, the tower enjoyed the protection of a beta plus-level mage on the surface.

However, the human city nestled within the depths of the tower posed a significant constraint on Morgen's ability to mobilize blood forces. Aside from Amy, the formidable local leader, the only other reliable force available to him was the Grand Mage, Spark.
"What is their objective?" Morgen asked, his brow furrowed. "Surely, they are not simply after the magic scrolls?"
After all, the Tower of Crimson Mages' claim to fame was the mass production of magic scrolls.
"Neither," Amy replied, shaking his head and then nodding in affirmation. "Viscount Bernard, the leader of the Dark Covenant, believes that the Tower of Crimson Mages' ability to produce magic scrolls on such a grand scale suggests the possession of the legendary relic—the Twelve Scrolls of Magic."
"So, their plan is to attack the Tower of Crimson Mages and seize the relic," Morgen concluded, a sense of shock evident in his voice. "Yet, why did they delay their assault until after my departure?"
Amy shook his head once more. "Because the Dark Covenant cannot confirm whether you carry the relic, and the relic possesses unimaginable power. They fear that upon encountering a threat, you may directly utilize its power to escape, and once you have been alerted to their presence, it will be far more difficult for them to succeed in the future. The reason the Dark Covenant has refrained from acting during this period is because they are developing weapons designed to neutralize the relic's power."
Morgen's expression hardened as he listened to Amy's account. Even while wielding overwhelming strength, they exercised such caution—the Dark Covenant posed a formidable threat.
"Furthermore, this is Green City, where extraordinary mages reside! Should they attract the attention of such an entity, their cover will be blown. Even the leader of the Dark Covenant, the nearly extraordinary Viscount Bernard, would pay a heavy price," Amy added, his tone laden with seriousness. "The might of an extraordinary being transcends our comprehension, and no one dares to defy its authority."
Morgen nodded solemnly. He understood that the Dark Covenant had chosen not to act prematurely, fearing that he might escape with the so-called relic and cause a commotion in Green City, which would ultimately put them in a precarious position. Green City was human territory, and no matter how formidable the dark forces may be, they had to abide by its laws. Because there were not only extraordinary mages residing there but also multiple individuals of the beta level, far outnumbering those of the Dark Covenant.
Launching an attack in Green City without thorough preparation would be akin to dancing on the edge of a knife, courting their own demise.
After a moment of contemplation, Morgen could not help but frown. Where had he acquired these mythical Twelve Scrolls of Magic? Wasn't this a blatant framing?
"What if they were to learn that the Tower of Crimson Mages does not possess the relic?" Morgen inquired. "Or, perhaps their true objective is not the relic, but merely to gain access to the technology behind the mass production of magic scrolls..."
Morgen's question hit the nail on the head. He found it difficult to believe that these dark entities would risk their lives in Green City solely for the sake of an illusory relic. Compared to the prospect of obtaining the technology responsible for the continuous production of magic scrolls, the relic paled in significance.
Amy shook her head with a wry smile. "Your Majesty, your wisdom would evoke the admiration of the Night Goddess. The ultimate goal of the Dark Covenant is to seize the Tower of Crimson Mages' technology for the mass production of magic scrolls. The magic scrolls produced by the Tower of Crimson Mages have virtually monopolized the entire Green City market, and its potential wealth is too alluring to ignore. The relic is merely one of their speculations."
A sense of helplessness washed over Morgen as he listened to Amy's words. The allure of the Tower of Crimson Mages' technology for the production of magic scrolls had been evident to him from the start. He had even asked Weina to take precautions against this very possibility. Yet, never would he have imagined that his actions would attract the attention of such a powerful and malevolent force.
Now, on the surface, only the Grand Mage, Spark, offered protection to the Tower of Crimson Mages, but even Spark's might would be insufficient to withstand the strength of the Dark Covenant. They had become the target of a pack of ravenous wolves.
Despite understanding the gravity of the situation, Morgen's heart refused to waver, and an intense flame began to burn within his dark and fathomless pupils.
No matter how formidable their adversaries, the Dark Covenant, or their treacherous plans, what reason did he, as an ancestor of the bloodline, have to shrink away?
Under pressure, instead of retreating, his fighting spirit surged, unconquerable as ever.
His calm demeanor concealed an indomitable spirit that refused to yield or retreat.
"Did you bring all the forces I requested?"
"Your Majesty, all the high-level combatants from the City of Dawn are present."
Morgen's spirits lifted upon hearing this. "Enumerate them."
"There are six Cyclopes, including the one-eyed Lord Corso of the beta level and five Cyclops warriors of the alpha plus level. All second-generation blood descendants, excluding Viscount Harrison, are present, totaling six, all at the alpha plus level. In addition, we have brought two hundred initial blood descendants and four hundred magic bats."
Morgen's eyes lit up. In order to prepare for the upcoming battle, he had sent word to Amy to gather the City of Dawn's strongest forces. He had not expected Amy to not only fulfill his request but also bring along blood descendants and magic bats.
The City of Dawn had become an impressive force to be reckoned with.
Two high-level combatants of the beta level—Cyclops Lord Corso and Shadow High Priest and Blasphemer Amy. In addition, they possessed eleven senior professionals above the alpha plus level—five Cyclops warriors and six second-generation blood descendants. This lineup was nothing short of splendid.
Although the current generation of blood descendants had yet to reach the alpha plus level, these two hundred high-level blood descendants were formidable fighters in their own right. The four hundred magic bats, with their peak level of nine and average level of seven, were also a force to be reckoned with.
With such an army at his disposal, Morgen could engage in a medium-scale battle. Even facing the unfathomable Dark Covenant, they would be at a disadvantage, but they possessed sufficient countervailing power.
Most importantly, Morgen held a trump card—Amy, the old ghost, had become a high-ranking member of the Dark Covenant.
