Epilogue

Morrigan watched as the hope fled from each chieftain who were determined to prove that a human could not have the heart and soul of a Marmuro’k by fixing a fight they believed she could not win. Now, each was down a warrior and she earned the respect of the citizens of Tikal, soon all of Tik’Taq’To when word spread.

She noticed Nora, Hi’tet, Xitzocl and Xol jump down into the field to greet Morrigan above all the chaos of the coliseum but Skoll beat everyone to her in a storm of radiant pride and love as he let out a powerful howl as he closed the space between them.

Skoll gave long winded husky growls with playful hops and stamps of his feet while his tails swung violently in pure joy when he greeted his bond. As tired and sore as she was, she couldn’t help but smile at the rambunctious mutt talking her up and showering her with amplified affection.

She wrapped her arms around his neck and squeezed him in a tight hug which he grumbled and hummed pleasantly before sneezing. He yanked out of her grasp to reveal his coat stained with partially dried Marmuro’k blood before he sneezed again. Morrigan looked down her chest and legs to see she was covered in blood and gave him a half serious smile, “Sorry buddy,” she mused.

Skoll did not seem to care as he sat like a good boy while the rest of the group joined her, his tongue hanging out the side of his mouth as his twin tails kicked up dust from the ground, perfectly content.

Nora immediately grabbed Morrigan’s blood-stained face and kissed her with heated passion, uncaring that her lips were coated in her blood before pulling back and saying, “That was… I have no words, but my underwear has the right words in them.”

Morrigan snorted with a smile and rolled her eyes before pulling her overly perverted lover into her arms, far too tired to be embarrassed. Nora’s warmth was soothing and evened out her frayed emotions as her anger seeped away. If she could fall asleep right there, she would be the happiest woman on the planet.

“I’m so tired…” she murmured into Nora’s neck and felt Nora’s sexually energized body suddenly relax. Nora held her softly as one of her hands gently rubbed her back soothingly.

“That’s okay love, sexy time can wait. I’ll make you food and we can go snuggle up till you fall asleep,” Nora offered in the sweetest and most understanding tone that made Morrigan’s heart melt. Morrigan’s grip tightened slightly before she noticed Xol, Hi’tet and Xitzocl waiting patiently, Xol surprisingly resting his hand on Skoll’s head who panted with anxious excitement.

Morrigan released Nora but clasped her hand as she gave Xol, Hi’tet and Xitzocl her attention. Xol stepped forward first and clasped her on the shoulder before kneeling in front of her. However, Xol did not bow like he normally did, and the coliseum went silent once again as they watched the legendary warrior kneel before Morrigan, but instead, he met her eyes.

“You have done well Red Death. Despite the dishonor my old clan displayed, you met the challenge without question. I am proud to follow you as both Red Death and Chieftain Morrigan Clarke of Clan Clarke,” he told her in a sincere tone, well, what passed as sincere in his gravelly voice.

Morrigan fought back tears as she laid her hand on his and nodded stoically, too tired and emotional to formulate a respectful response as she spaced out. She may have considered herself a chieftain for Yekku’s sake, but now she was officially named chieftain of her own clan, a family of bond instead of blood.

Nora squeezed her hand sweetly with joy which broke her focus, allowing Morrigan to see Xol and Hi’tet, with Yekku having appeared from thin air, all standing with their heads bowed respectfully and their fists over their chests in an honorable salute.

Morrigan returned the gesture with a soft thump against her chest and an emotional smile on her face before everyone relaxed and turned towards Xitzocl who waited patiently.

The Chieftain of Clan Arak’tarul stepped forward with a respectful nod, “A strange time, when Tik’Taq’To gains a new clan, but a time to be revered and celebrated. We are proud of you Mori and you now have the respect and honor of all Marmuro’k on Tik’Ta…”

Morrigan, Nora and Xol all shifted their focus sharply to the comm beads in their ears. Xol hissed angrily at the chatter as Nora gasped and tightened her grip on Morrigan’s hand. Morrigan though, ground her teeth and looked directly into Xitzocl’s eyes.

“I need a ship, and your craziest pilot,” Morrigan demanded.

Xitzocl flicked her tongue in confusion by the sudden shift from a joyous occasion to such deadly seriousness, “What is going on?”

Morrigan growled as she looked towards the sky, her gaze filled with hate and rage as if trying to find something beyond the clouds, “It’s the Federation… they’re here.”

They made their move and managed to slip into Tik’Taq’To space. What they did not know was the one who would bring them to ruin was standing below on the planet’s surface. She who would bring them their reckoning and protect Tik’Taq’To, and all the Marmuro’k who inhabited it.
