"Master, please be careful; this beast doesn't necessarily suppose to be along the outskirts of the forest." said his martial spirit.
He lucked out. If he were an average martial awakening realm practitioner, he wouldn't have time to regret it. Fortunately, he had many secrets and pluses on his person. Dante plainly explained that this Raptor demonic beast he encountered wasn't an ordinary demonic beast; unlike the remainder of the pack, this beast held a mid-grade bloodline and was three and a half meters tall, accompanied by hardened black scales that covered its entire body with it's fearsome-looking Four sharp claws, the two on its feet was prominent and gave one an extremely intense vibe. This beast was quite ferocious in its realm, and Even a mortal late elite martial artist would have to pay attention or be sliced and diced by the fearsome beast. The demonic beast had three sub-types as follows: ordinary beasts, ancient beasts, and divine beasts. Old and Divine demonic beast was more potent than a familiar beast. All three types had varying degrees of bloodline purity. The talent and potential of a demonic beast were determined by its bloodline purity. Higher bloodline denoted higher skill and access to more innate abilities. The bloodline purity was graded as low, mid, high, grand.
Ordinary beasts could evolve into an ancient beast or divine beast whose bloodline they possess by increasing said bloodline. Beast didn't cultivate like humanoids, beast naturally grew more potent over time, but to increase their bloodline purity, they had to devour others, namely humans. Each sub realm breakthrough would increase their bloodline purity by leaps and bounds. They could also increase their realms by consuming humanoids; this was the reason beast held the tag demonically, beasts and humanoids were irreversible adversaries, there is no middle ground nor can peace be reached, humanoids need for beast cores is ingrained in their societies and beast that wanted to soar in the sky and ascend needed humanoids meats and organs.
The demonic Raptor hissed hatefully. The beast had never failed to ambush his prey fragile bodies of tasty humanoids. The beast's nostrils flared, the irresistible scent waffling off the human-made mouth salivate. The Raptor opened its maw and began to make yelping noises. It had sensed the human strength before its attack, His power was vastly below his, yet the human managed to feel him and even defended against his claws. He could only assume the human was hiding its cultivation. In actuality, Leon used spiritual power and his undying physique, which made his body more robust than others in the awakening realm. The beast decided to launch a full-scale attack on Leon as the rest of his pack was near.
The raptor released a menacing hiss toward Leo. It would torture the humanoid for foiling its meal; now, he would have to share portions with its pack. 'This beast has high body toughness; it felt like hitting a steel plate." Complained Leo.
'Master, the space-ring on your hand has been tampered with. I didn't bother to look toward it since Sebastian handed it over. From now on, I'll pay closer attention to these matters. It seems an elder member of the clan has ill will toward you." Dante said with a sinister undertone.
"it's not your fault; neither of us would've anticipated my kin to execute such an operation on a supposed useless member of the younger generation." He replied.
"Great Master, keep that composure and mindset, " Dante said, grinning savagely. "we should evaluate returning to the clan. I originally wished for you to remain in the clan because I won't bother to explain. It appears the future will be quite turbulent. Nevertheless, antagonists like them can only make us stronger." He said evilly.
Leo split his concentration; his arm hurt terribly. Soon afterward, it began to heal automatically. He was able to safeguard his life. The bones in his defending arm instantly became powder. Leon other secret was his physique, and humanoids could gain many things from martial spirits; one such thing was a physique, which gave him many abilities and perks, one of his from his 'Undying Vampire Physique' was almost instantaneous healing; he summarized its potency as a famous fiction character from back home, the only detriment was it absorbed his blood. The innate ability unlocked by his Vampire martial spirit would also increase his physique potential since the ability allowed him to take other bloodlines for himself.

Leo's entire body became covered in darkness. Because of his humanoid martial spirit, he had a higher understanding than other youth in the awakening realm; his insights were comparable to mid-elite realm practitioners. Unbeknownst to him, Dante was considered a once-in-a-lifetime genus. Leo wasn't a slouch in comprehensive either; Dante didn't tell him this out of fear of complacency. Cloaked in the dark silhouette, his body stretched outward before vanishing altogether. It was then another Raptor powerful claw swipe where his neck would have been seconds earlier. Because of his unique utilization of his soul-sense, he was forewarned before the ambush.
Leo's figure appeared next to the raptor, his saber gleaming in the moonlight before dropping downward like an executioner ax; the beast's head flew through the air as blood splashed around the area, causing a pungent coppery scent. Dante laughed savagely inside his mind at the beast's death and the blood that would only bolster his charge. Leo wasn't a stranger to death in his past life. He had reaped many lives; therefore, a beast death didn't even cause his eyes to twitch.
His action was so precise and deadly the ferocious demonic beast froze for a second as they made strange noises toward each other; no doubt they were debating continuing to hunt the human. Unfortunately, the black-scaled Raptor only became more angered by the open provocation.
Leo had just employed a movement-based martial skill known as Foundation steps. This skill was widespread and didn't have any mystery behind it; to be simple, it was the bare minimum of essence utilization; at best, it was a poor substitute to a fundamental movement skill. Most practitioners were incapable of unlocking the innate abilities of their martial spirits, which could be dangerous to a practitioner battling against the demonic beast and others with natural abilities. The only way martial artists could contend against another with unlocked abilities was to learn commands passed down and created. Also, most of these skills were once innate abilities; to begin with, only one at a sufficient level can pass on their martial spirit's natural talents to others.
Leo had only recently been taught the Foundation steps skill from Sebastian. The Skill was a human martial skill that means that it didn't require spiritual power; spirit power came from one martial spirit; Leo used spiritual energy, which manifested itself in the darkness that surrounded his figure, when one used spiritual power, the presence of could be seen by anyone, unlike essence, which was unseen. He also used his martial spirit insight to bridge the gap and quickly assimilated the skill he used. Skill this caused the human grade Foundation steps to turn into Shadow Steps, a mid-mortal grade skill. Skills such a this we're few; most large clans only had no more than three. Leo was fortunate indeed.
The early-soldier realm demonic Raptor possessed the bloodline of an ancient beast, that much could be discerned by its appearance, it possibly had a land wyrm as an ancestor; if it were a dragon, then it would have had a divine bloodline, all true Dragons we're divine by nature, dragons could ascend to divinity in a short span of hundred years, this was the only reason most dragons we're extinct or myths on lesser worlds, even a grand world like this only had descendants of true dragons.
Leo was hyper-alert and anticipated the black-scaled raptor counter-attack. He leaped on a branch and darted further inside the forest. Dante had already told him to retreat for now. The raptor on the ground was already a husk; he needed to find a secure place and cultivate. His mission was only to awaken all of his martial spirits, and he knew he would have to risk his life battling the black scale beast and his compatriots together.
Dante nodded his head at the boy's acceptance of retreating and fighting later. This was the perfect opportunity to use this demonic beast to temper the youngster some more. He wanted Leo to win, losing wasn't favorable, this outcome will teach him the importance of strength. The raptor roared at the retreating back of the youth as it gave chase.
