It was a strange feeling watching giant mushrooms walking in lazy circles. Their steps making thumps on the dirt and gravel. They seemed rather pointless in nature and any other possible evolution that makes sense of their existence. There was only one mention in the of the walking mushrooms, and it was that they were edible... all it said was "[fighting fungus] good fried, boiled, roasted. See picture in the bottom right corner of the page."
He didn't get anything from the book about strength ability or attacks. So in his thoughts it was either really weak or he didn't have the right book. All he could do was watch them for a bit and see if there was a good time to isolate one and attack. Which didn't take long because after only a few minutes there were multiple chances he could ambush one with a red cap. After some deliberation with himself, he decided to take his magic bag off his belt, set it on the ground, and pull out a long pointed stick he sharpened weeks ago before closing the bag, then fastening it back onto his belt. With the makeshift spear, he decided to throw it at the red capped mushroom when it made it to the designated ambush zone. There, he waited for it to get within range so he could see how it reacted.
Thump... thump... thump...
It was slow and annoying, but it was moving to the same spot it had before. Like any game-monster would do, it followed its patterns without deviation. Feeling it was going well, Lone took the spear in his hand and positioned himself.
'This is easy enough to call it a beginner level. Maybe I'm being to cautious? It is the first floor maybe it doesn't need to be so scary.' He thought just before he stood up from a wall and hurled the spear at the red capped mushroom. The stick flew perfectly striking the mushroom on the cap then...
It was beginning to tick him off how much he kept proving himself wrong over and over again. He was running from a charging four foot tall mushroom that a moment ago smashed what he thought to be solid stone wall. The mushroom was slow before but had gotten much faster and was catching up to him in no time. All he had was the knife in his hand that was big for him but felt somewhat lacking in front of the thing chasing him down.
Looking for any escape he spotted a row of pillars sticking out of the ground just ahead of him. He had just enough time to get out of the mad fungus strike, feeling the ground rumbling and hearing the clap of the pillar being struck by a kick the mushroom dealt it. He didn't stop to look if it had slowed down as he darted behind the next pillar in the line. Another loud clap sounded right behind him, telling him was the right choice. Continuing he was behind the third pillar, this time no clap or rumble but now thumps of the mushroom getting closer. He looked at the next pillar, it was broken and was riddled with cracks... climbable cracks.
He took to it as fast as he could, the cracks were good for his hands but his feet couldn't get perched fast enough slowing him down. That when he heard it. "Thump thump thump!" Three quick steps in succession. He lifted his leg just in time to avoid it being smashed by the mushrooms swinging head. It was a moment lost to him as he felt the pillar shake and tilt in his direction smashing his left hand.
"Guaaah!" He groaned through his teeth.
Tears began welling up in his eyes as the pain in his fingers grew hotter, then another clap as the monster kicked the pillar again. This time shaking it enough to get his hand free. With no time to wait for the pain to fade he grabbed the next highest place he could reach. Thankfully no more shifts in the pillar caused him any more injuries as he got to the top of the pillar. It was just wide enough for him to sit on but not in anyway relaxing, as the monster below kept shaking it with one massive blow after another. He had very little time looking down and seeing that the pillar was losing large chunks. Thinking of ways to get out of this situation was hard with pain, panic clouding his mind, and seeing that he was actually pretty high up.
'I could try and jump to the next pillar but I'd need a good start and this thing isn't stable. Fucking shit eating plant! If you were regular sized I'd just smash you under my foot you!...' Lone paused thinking, an idea popping into his head 'that could work...' calm finding it's way back into his chest.
Lone reach back to his belt carefully picking lose a pouch as the pillar shook. He took as much time as he could trying to keep his wit and timed it as best he could. Holding on to the pillar with his legs as hard as he could he took the pouch and aimed it just above the creature, then with a quick tug of a string the pouch ripped from his hand like the first time he found it.
One more clap and rumble followed by another different clap and rumble then before sounded.
The dimensional pouch had hit its mark. The mushroom was hit right as it collided with the stone pillar, the pouch landing on the cap leaving it stuck in the hard red shell. He hadn't noticed before with all the rushing, but it seemed that the cap was hard like a helmet and acted as it's main offensive weapon. With the danger out of the way he began climbing down taking it easy on his left hand as much as possible, the process being slow and steady. When he finally made it down he looked at the monster in front of him.
'This thing was tough. It almost took this big ass thing down with me on it. Jeez...' Lone examined the side of the pillar chunks of it scattered around. 'Well shit! If they're all like this I'm not gonna be able to use this place till I turn 10. Dammit!' Frustrated he turned back to the monster and decided he was at least going to cut it up and get some materials.
Walking over he took the knife out of the sheath on his belt but as he was doing so, he felt like he was forgetting something. Seeing the pouch stuck in the cap he thought that maybe that was it but that was wrong somehow. The knife in his right hand, and the left held against his chest, he got to the side of the mushroom ready to stab down at what might be it's chest or stalk? he wasn't sure but he raised the knife when something flew past his face so fast he wouldn't have known if not for the wind brushing past his face.
'What!? Was that it's foot?' Lone stood still till another gust hit him in the face. Falling back landing on his butt, he stood dumb-founded. The mushroom was still alive and... well... kicking. It was an odd sight as it kept swinging it's legs trying to get him any way it could but remaining pinned do to the pouches weight. It wasn't flexible enough to get him but the power behind those kicks caused gusts to blow his hair around which was frightening by itself and caused him to pause for more than a moment.
'This is crazy why would anyone do this kind of thing as a job?!? The adventurers were crazy to go into places like this. Why did I want this? This isn't freedom it's suicide.' Lone's mind raced with thoughts of how it was too difficult for anyone to start a profession based on this. At that moment something happened that made him stop all that and focus on the here and now. 'It's trying to stand up!'
The mushroom had stopped kicking and began stomping the ground slightly lifting it's upper half getting better with every attempt.
Lone wasn't waiting for anything he just acted. Gripping the knife in his hand tighter it was the only thing he could hold with one hand not to mention everything else was in the bag that was planted in the cap of the mushroom, so it was his only choice. He charged knife pointing down and went for the base of the stalk connected to the underside of the cap, the blade tip sinking into it only a few inches not having the strength needed to go deeper. The monster wriggled stomping the ground harder, bucking up, trying anything to move from where it was to somewhere else. Unfortunately for the creature it was only helping Lone dig the knife deeper into its own body. As it struggled a red substance began oozing out of it. Warm fluid splash from the struggle hitting Lone in the face but his focus was on survival and that ment killing this creature before it killed him, that was all that was going to happen.
The mushroom fought for a few more seconds but that might as well bin hours. Lone was still holding the knife down when the notice popped up.

Lone was too tired to care about the windows but clicked his tongue when he realized the thing he had forgotten when walking up to the [Red Shroom Commander].
"I didn't remember the kill confirmation from the system. Dammit!!!" He yelled
He looked at the red ooze on his body worried it might stain when he saw nothing on him. "!!!" He was positive that he was splashed all over with red stuff but all that was there was just some damp areas here or there. Patting himself down he realized his left hand was healed too. Unable to solve this mystery he turned to the monster and pulled out his knife, cutting his hand while not paying attention.
'Dammit! For fuck sake! What's going on with me today!?!" Frustrated he then inspected his knew wound pausing while watching as the red ooze evaporated and the cut on his hand closed. 'Your kidding...' His mind was calm this time. "this stuff heals you... really?"
He checked his requirements timer remembering what time it was when he left the wall to now and found only an hour and a half had past. It was slower than he thought, thinking at least two hours on the outside should have gone by but it was his perception that was off. He thought maybe his math was off it took him 30mins to get here from the wall 10mins of going through the book then 15 or so to get rid of the rock bugs. That was at least an hour and change even if he rounded up but he couldn't really guess how long it took him to watch the [Shroom Commander] to killing it, but he felt like longer.
'Was it the adrenaline rush or something?' Lone shook his head before he wasted more time thinking.
Grabbing the dimensional pouch he pull the strings closing the bag then lifted it from the cap of the Shroom. After putting it back on his belt he took the knife from the ground wiping the handle the best he could and began cutting at the Shroom laying there. It turned out that there was a sack that he punctured when killing it. The rest of it was regular mushroom meat. What he couldn't figure out was why it died. It didn't look like he hit anything vital more did he think the healing sack did anything for it because it didn't heal when it was covered in the red sap. So why did it die? Looking a it didn't help so kept cutting after about 15mins it was all cut into cubes. He found that it had another sack filled with sap and put it to the side. While cutting he found 2 small boxes next to the feet of the Shroom and saved opening them for later. They were his item drops and wanted to save the best for last.
After making sure all the pieces of the inner Shroom with clean cuts were inside his magic bag he turned to look at the red cap that was left over. It was a hard thing and would make for a good shield even having organic looking hand holds but he couldn't put it in his bag or take it home with him. Still he had time so he pick it up easy enough.
Most of the weight behind the head-bud attack the [Shroom Commander] used was in the mushroom meat in it's head finding it was much heavier and denser then everywhere else. That said the red cap on its head was very light. Other than the dent left by the pouch it was a great shield if only a little small for Lone.
Finished with the [Shroom Commander] he finally got to the two boxes on the other side. They were both small carved wood boxes that fit in each of his hands. He opened the first to find something braided coiled up inside, touching it, he felt that it was made out of a silky smooth material he couldn't identify. Taking it out two other pieces fell down to the ground but before he could crouch to pick them up the box turned into light and disappeared. With the sudden confusion passed he took up the other two objects look at the three one was bigger, light brown and had a clasp with a round purple pedal as it's center piece, a necklace. The others were bracelets with red and green pedals, the red was long and sharp, while the green had a soft heart shape to it.
"Interesting... I guess... but I'm not sure I'm a jewelry kind of guy." Lone said to himself
He then turned his attention to the other box, putting the silk jewelry in his regular pouch. This time it was a pair of gloves in his size nothing special but appreciated all the same. After his smashed hand he'd take any protection. Putting the gloves on he felt like gripping something in his had to test the feel of them. First was his knife then his improvised shield.
With this he felt ready to leave. Turning to face the entrance he lost his breath as he saw something he didn't expect. The doors to the rest area were closed. 'Wait what's...' A sudden realization hit him...
