Revised story, yay, Kuma!
If you are new to this fiction, please read the whole thing, Kuma. As for my former readers, I combined prologue and chapter one and I made new changes after their death so, you can skim till the mark that says two years later, Kuma!
The first arc would be quiet different in many aspects and I might introduce some of the characters earlier, Kuma!
Sorry for restarting my story again, Kuma! I know this is my third time but you know what they say, third time is the charm, Kuma! Maybe, Kuma…
-In a common middle school, in the state of Georgia, Second day of school, Year 2000-
~P.o.V: Matthew Evans~
It's only second day of school, and it's already boring. Hahhh, I just want to go home right now,I could really go for a PC games like Diablo right now. School is just way too boring.
(Kuma’s note: I don't know what people likes to play online, Kuma…)
Most of this school’s home room is a little less than 15 meters long and 20 meters wide. A decent sized class with around 28 seats evenly spaced. The rooms aren't exactly the same, but it's size and use of space is pretty much similar. Don't expect too much, it's a public school in the middle of nowhere.
Our home room teacher, Mr. Smith, teaches 8th grade English and English composition. Well, who cares? It's not like you learn anything in middle school, why do I have to attend this place of “learning” where only thing I actually learn how to do is waste time.
The classroom was obnoxiously noisy, since Mr. Smith took off God knows where. Where is that teacher anyways? A figure walked into the classroom, speaking of the devil, here he is.
Mr. Smith is an old man. When I say old, I mean he appeared to be around late seventies or early eighties. His antique grey hairs and wrinkled face did not help much. How long did he say he taught English for? He probably said forty five years or something. I would have believed him if he said he taught for seventy years.
“Quiet down everyone!” Dude, chill. You’re louder than the whole class combined.
With the teacher’s loud entrance, everyone quieted down to a certain degree. However, the quiet peace lasted only for a second before a girl about our age entered along with the old man. I only got a glimpse of her before Mr. Smith started to speak again. What was she carrying in her arms?
“We have a transfer student today from New York, her name is Leah Stones. Since she moved from a different state, can someone show her around?”
“I will!” Shouted the girl behind me.
Who was she again? Oh, I think I remember her from sixth grade. Now, what was her name… It's something like Lily? Or was it Libby? Can't remember.
“Thank you for volunteering Liz, be sure to show her around our school.” Mr. Smith grinned and started speaking to the new girl.
So Liz was her name.
Shifting my attention from Liz to the new girl, I observed her carefully. What came to my eyesight was a stunningly beautiful girl. Her auburn colored hair ran down to her shoulders, with natural waves. The girl’s eyes were almond shaped and her pupils were chocolate brown. Smoothly curved nose, and small adorable lips.
If it weren't for Mr. Smith’s introduction, I would have surely mistaken her for a model or an idol. It's not just her face that was stunning, but her delicate curves, pale soft looking hands and fair white skin made her out to be a perfect beauty
The girl, Leah, stood in place as if wanting to speak to everyone. What was she doing?
“Oh my, I must be getting quiet old, I almost forgot to mention about Leah's current medical condition. You may not notice it yet, but well she is a…. She is…” Having trouble finishing his sentence, Mr. Smith looked toward Leah silently asking for help.
She opened the object she was carrying with both arms and started writing on it. So that's what the object was. So, what is she doing, is she drawing?
My question was answered when she finished writing and rotated around for all the students to read.
’Hello everyone, my name is Leah Stone. I am using this notebook right now because I am a mute. Ever since I was born I wasn't able to talk. As a baby, there was a problem in my trachea, preventing me from breathing so I had an operation near where my vocal chord was. The trauma from the operation stopped my voice from working. I might not be able to speak but please get along with me!’
Huh?! She's a mute, so she can't speak at all… That's quiet a surprise.
Mr. Smith pointed toward the empty seat next to me
“You may take your seat now. I have to report to the dean’s office since a student was found doing… Um… illegal activities. I'll be back soon so talk quietly amongst yourselves”
I'm pretty sure the one that got in trouble is the delinquent in our class. His seat was actually next to mine, but I guess he got expelled today. So that's why the seat was empty today. Wow, already getting expelled on the second day of school, that's a new record.
Leah walked up to her seat and turned toward my direction.
‘Hi! I'm Leah, please get along with me!’
Huh? She is talking to me! How do I react? What do I do? I have always been unsocial toward my peer group. I'm what they call a lone wolf, I never started a conversation with any of my classmate nor have any friends.
“Tch, whatever, just seat down”
Eh? Why did I just say that. Was it because I felt agitated toward her? I'm so confused, what did I just say to her!? Am I so unsocial that I can't even talk friendly?
~Leah’s P.o.V~
Oh no! They are about to fight each other and it's my fault! When I walked into the class, and saw the boy who was to be seated next to me and thought it would be great to be friends with him.
Without realizing that I could be a nuisance toward him, I tried to talked to the boy, who now I know is Matt. Matt has a bright enchanting blue eyes, silver-blond hair, and feminine face. He had an appearance of a kind person so without thinking I tried to start a conversation with him.
I stepped over the line. I shouldn't have bothered him and now Matt hates me…
While I was lost in my useless thoughts, the girl named Liz stepped in and scolded Matt.
“Hey, Matt! Don't be so mean to her, she's just trying to be friends with you!” Liz interjected. Matt suddenly turned and looked toward the direction where Liz was standing and glared at her.
“Why should I befriend a mute girl? Butt out of my business, Liz!”
So Matt doesn't like to be friends with girls like me… I started feel depressed. But why? Why do I feel so disappointed that Matt doesn't want to be my friend?
“This is why you will never find a true friend who will always be there for you!”
“Shut up and stop stick your nose into other people's business! I don't need any friends!” Matt yelled out toward Liz and the classroom quiet down as they continued to argue.
What do I do? What do I do? They are arguing because of me!
While my mind spun looking for a solution to stop their fighting, the two students stopped yelling at each other. However, the mood between them clearly wasn't peachy. They are still glaring at each other, for a moment I though there was a spark between the two. It's just my imagination, right?
Thankfully, Mr. Smith came back from the Dean’s office and started the English class promptly.
~Liz’s P.o.V~
Stupid Matt! I was fuming with anger because of the idiot in front of my seat. He shouldn't treat Leah like that, it's pretty easy to tell that he is interested in her. Is all boys idiots? He should have realized that the sweet cute Leah wanted be friends with him. HIM! Out of all the outgoing cordial students, Leah wanted to befriend him, but the jerk made her feel unwelcome.
I once saw Matt helping an elder lady with her grocery when she couldn't get across the road during seventh grade year. I had a good impression of him, but he just ruined it! Uuu… I regret giving my respect toward him.
I know that even though he has a sour mouth, he is actually very soft hearted guy. It's just, he is so… What's the word I'm looking for.. Oh yeah! Thick headed!!!
After class ended, I got up from my seat and walked toward Leah and introduced myself. Since I'll be showing her around, I can't have her scare of me, so I put on my most kindest smile and spoke to her.
“Hi, sorry for the late introduction, I am Elizabeth Jones, but you can just call me Liz.”
‘Nice to meet you Liz, You already know but I'm Leah, let's get along with each other from now on!” She showed me a wide smile while holding her sketchbook for me to read. Her smile flashed brightly, wha?! She's so cute! It's like her smile is bringing out older sisterly(?) desire to protect her!
“Do you have to ride the school bus home?” I inquired.
Leah just shook her head side to side. So she walks home as well, her house must be close by. Maybe she might even be in my neighborhood. I wouldn't be surprised since there aren't many neighborhood in a walking distance from school. Maybe two or three?
“Alright! Let's show you around the school so you won't get lost walking around by yourself.” I grabbed her dainty arm and dragged her out of the classroom. We spent around an hour touring the school.
It was quite enjoyable to go around the school with Leah by my side. She was home-schooled until this year, so her eyes sparkled while we went through majority of the building. I found out that she indeed moved to my neighborhood. So we can always walk to and from school together!
“So, do you like Matt? You seem to take only interest in him, am I right?” I voiced my question while walking back home.
Leah’s eyes widened and her face blushed furiously. Ho, so she has feelings toward him as well, fufufu, so this is what they call mutual love. Or is it mutual like?
‘I don't really know why, I just wanted to be close to him? I really don't know’
Right on the mark! I knew it was strange that she tried to start a conversation with him. If she was just trying to make friends, she might have started with the girl seating on the other side of her, Mia, instead of talk to a boy. After all, it is easier to start with making friend with same gender first. And Mia is a very docile girl, anybody can tell by just taking a glance at her.
Matt is trying not to show it, but he is pretty much being mean to her because he is interested in her. Matthew Evans, you can fool Leah and you can fool even yourself, but there is no way you can fool me, Elizabeth Jones!
Leah might be too good for an idiot like Matt, but… if they like each other, they should be together right? It's not like I have any ulterior motivation like satisfying my desire to help my friend do to my self righteousness. I'm doing this not for myself but for Leah.
I guess I'll play the role of Cupid and help these two clueless thick heads. They might not be aware of their own feelings, I especially know Matt is not smart enough to connect two and two together. This might be a bit of challenge, but it's worth it.
I dropped off Leah at her house. Her house is actually few doors down from mine, what a coincidence.
I walk up to my own house and open the door when a computer screen appears in front of me! Wow that's creepy, it's in mid air…
Congratulation! You have been chosen to be the next God of this world after the last God retired from his position! Transferring the new God to Celestria….
Huh?! Wait what?!
-2 years later-
-Year 2002, Unknown place-
~Matt’s P.o.V~
I woke up with a start as I sweated profusely.
It must have been a dream… A terrifying nightmare, in which Leah is about to be hit by a truck because she tried to save a kid who did not see the truck. In the dream, I had only enough time to jump in front of her and try to shield her from the impact. Even so, I think if it really happened, we would have both died. Wow, my dream was so depressing. Thankfully, it was not real, but why was this dream so vivid?
While I pondered through the dream, I noticed something. All I see is darkness, so it should be still night time, but shouldn't I be on my bed and not on a cold hard floor? Also, my whole body is glowing faintly with golden light. Why didn't I notice the light beforehand you ask? Because I wasn't paying attention to my surrounding, okay?! How was I supposed to expect this?
Does this mean, I'm really dead and that wasn't a real dream? My mind raced as I recalled the event before my “death”. It was supposed to be a normal day, like every other day. Since it was summer vacation, I decided to hang out with Leah. You must be wondering how in the hell did an unsociable guy like me who clearly stated that he would not be friends with such a beautiful girl? Well… Don't remind me of my dark history!
A year after Leah moved to our school, I finally had the courage to… I meant I felt like I could… Uuu… Even I want friends to ya know!
A..anyways, we became friends. She's my first friend outside of online games. I-I-it's not because I am a loner, it's just… most people in my class were boring and they talked about uninteresting stuff.
What do I talk to Leah about? Um… that's not really the point in my explanation, right?
Back to my little story, we became pretty close since last year and even walked to and from school. As a friend I mean… don't get me wrong we are not dating… I definitely do not have does kind of feelings for her…
Why the heck am I explaining everything to myself? Hmm… I wonder why?
Back to reality, I better scan the area, I'm hoping that certain somebody is still alive. I don't know how much of a chance she had for surviving that impact, but I can only hope that I made it in time.
Well at least I don't see her so that might be a good sign.
By the way, where the heck am I? I'm pretty sure I died. So is this heaven? Or is it hell?
“It's neither.”
A blinding light flashed before my eyes and in place a figure stood tall.
A girl around four years younger than me with pure white one piece stared directly into my eyes. Pure brown hair ran down her shoulder, and her almond shaped bright purple eyes complimented her hair. That's a bit odd, does brown and purple match together?

“ It's been two years since we last saw each other right? Matt, it's nice to see you again.” The girl spoke up with a slight depressed tone.
I recognize this girl from somewhere? But where have I seen her before? She did say it's been two years…The unexpected recognition turned my eyes wide in shock, in front of me was someone who went missing since seventh grade two years ago!
Elizabeth Jones, the girl who was Leah's first friend. If I remember right, she went missing the day after meeting Leah. Her parents have been looking for her frantically, calling the police to report her missing and searched for her every single day. Why was she here, more importantly where exactly is this place?
“You two definitely died after getting hit by the truck. Right now, we are in a time suspended dimension between parallel worlds created by my predecessor. Basically, this place is middle of nowhere” Liz waved it off with her hand nonchalantly.
“What do you mean we?! Is Leah okay?!”(me)
“Now, now Matt, no need to be worked up. I'm just stating facts ya know? Every mortal beings must die at one point or another. It was just a little too soon for the two of you.”
Why does Liz sound as if she is not a human? The way she just refer to us as “mortal beings” and she answered my question in my mind before I can speak out. It's as if she is…
Liz launched into an explanation, “Yup! I'm God, or at least that's what I became two years ago. Its quiet simple, there are many God “candidates” in Earth, and only in Earth. When a God decides to retire after getting tired of being almighty, and powerful, he or she retires. The previous God browses through records of “candidates” that are still alive in Earth and summons the “candidate” to Celestria.”
Huh? God candidates… retire… God?! What the heck is going on?! I'm so confused, so there is omnipotent God that gets chosen every time the former God decides to retire? Then why haven't there been any evil God?
“You see, all the God candidates are monitored carefully to find the most suitable ones, so there has never been a case of evil God. In addition, we are not that omnipotent since we nor any other divine beings could change a course of action or go back in time to change future result. If I could, I would have saved the two of you from that accident.” Liz gazed at me with an apologetic expression while making eye contact.
“So where is Leah?”(me)
“Gosh, even though I just finished my explanation just a second ago, you already move on to the next question.”, Liz puffs out her cheeks and look crossed.
“I'm tired of explaining, let me just transfer my knowledge to you.”(Liz)
Different knowledges and images came into my mind in rapid pace. My head is unable to endure the stress caused by the amount of things Liz is shoving into my brain. A extremely painful headache caused me to fall on my knee and made my hand shake while clutching my head.
After what it seemed to be an hour, the pain stopped all together and my mind cleared enough to know what is going on.
According to my new knowledge, after Leah and I died, Liz summoned us here one by one and binded our souls together. Soul binding allows us to be able to recognize each other. It's literally a process in which part of my soul was given to Leah and I get part of her soul in exchange. The small part of our souls allows us to be connected with each other like an invisible chain.
When we finally meet with each other, we can form a contract so that we can communicate and teleport to each other's side.
Now, the reason why we have been given this special ability even though it would be useless to us since we are dead. Liz was too lazy to explain the situation so she not only transfer the knowledge about the binding but also the reason why she summoned me.
It's quiet simple actually, Liz wanted to spare us from our fate. That's quiet selfish for a god since she is showing favoritism, but I'm not complaining.
In Earth, the rise of population caused the demand for more soul while not many souls in heaven agreed to go back on Earth to fill in for the shortage of the souls that the God could not produce fast enough. In order to buy some time while the God create enough new souls, Liz's predecessor, the former God, decided to create a system in which 1 out of every 2 deceased one’s soul gets ripped apart into shred and combined with others to create new souls. The so called soul recycling was unfair but necessary in order to support the drastic increase in human population.
The predecessor decided to retire before coming up with a solution to this pending crises.
Apparently, if Liz had not brought me to this timeless dimension, I would have lost my identity and soul and became a part of a new born children of our world. Liz decided to save me by taking me out of the cycle, however, since I was forcibly yanked out my fate, we can not go to heaven nor hell. For now at least.
Instead, Liz decided send me to one of the world created by her predecessor’s predecessor. Apparently, the world I am going to is a world of swords and magics with many different sentient races along with humans. The place is not as well developed in technology as in Earth because of heavy reliance in magic. Because of that, the whole world is similar to medieval England. There is no such thing as computers or phone in the world, crap no video games…
Because I am forced to enter such an unknown world, I am given my previous memories, bonding between my soul with Leah and a greater blessing from my race’s gods or goddess.
Those with greater blessing of the gods are very few in the world we are about to enter since the deity of that world usually do not mess with its inhabitants. However, the ones with the greater blessing gain the ability on similar level to the God or goddess they were blessed by, of course that is based on the deities specialties. For example, if a deity of sword gives you his greater blessing, you have the potential to be on par with the deity in sword skills. However, the blessed ones must work hard in order to improve and control their powers. Also, the blessing, even the minor ones, allow the blessed beings to be able to understand languages of all races.
It's very unusual for an new born to be blessed, since most deity choose a person to bless based on their actions. However, there were some cases of a baby being blessed so it should not be too much of a problem.
Leah isn't here right now because Liz already talked to her and sent her away. This happened seven months ago… 7 months!!! Originally, Liz wanted to send us both at the same time but for some reason, I didn't wake up for seven months. Liz even thought My soul might have been crippled from the forced yanking but it turned out fine. I guess I can't really blame her.
I am apparently going to be reincarnated, and since an infant with small brain won't be able to process all of my memories, I will have my memory back after I turn three. When I'm old enough, I will go look for Leah, even if it takes me all my life.
In addition, every living things that are sentient have stats and levels, just like fantasy games. It might be unsettling to start my life in a new world, but I was drawn in by my obsession in games. This world might be advantageous for me since I have played many fantasy games, read light novels about reincarnations recommended by my online friends. I admit, I was an otaku ever since I was in fourth grade…
“Oh my, so you do admit you are an otaku.”(Liz)
STOP READING MY MIND!!! How long have you been listening in.
“Everything, kukuku, it was very amusing to hear your inner monologue. It almost sounds like you are writing a diary or a novel. You really don't have to be descriptive ya know?”(Liz)
Shut up Liz, and stop evading my privacy!
“Oh, you won't have to worry about finding Leah, you will find her sooner than you think.”(Liz)
Thanks… Wait! Stop trying to change subject! I am talking about my human rights here! I have the right to privacy, don't just read my mind!
“Awww, you almost fell for it. All well, the new world awaits, go have fun.”(Liz)
Liz waves her hand in a shooing motion and a gate opens in front of me.
The swirling 2 meter diameter circle that sparkles in circular motion. The gate look like a wall covered in twirling rainbow puke. This portal is made not by Liz but by Fate.
Who is Fate? She is one of the major deity split from Liz herself. Well, it's like having two Liz in charge of different jobs. Fate is not as powerful as Liz since she is only in charge of strings of fate. When you say in charge however, it doesn't actually mean she can manipulate people's destiny. That seems to be impossible for even Liz, the successor of the deities that created not only Earth, but many different parallel worlds. Fate can only watch the event unfolds as it progresses.
So, how did they change our fate? They actually didn't, when we died, our strings of fate was destroyed. I don't actually know how this string thing works but I guess you have no more destiny after death so you aren't bounded by fate anymore. This is the first time in trillions of parallel universe history to have souls from different world reincarnate into the parallel world. That kinda makes us special I guess.
Fate can not be manipulated but Fate(goddess not the concept) can see the future event before it happens. This was why Liz had enough time to devise a plan to yank us out of the cycle. She spent the last two years to come up with a plan to save us somehow, so I am very grateful.
But because we are not bounded by fate any longer, even Liz won't be able to see any events that are caused by us. We are the only beings who can actually change the fate of others! Sounds awesome right? But this does not mean we can change fate of others only in positive ways. If we make a blunder, the fate of those we change might be worse for them then what was actually in stored for them.
This is kinda heavy, but Liz assured us that we won't even notice it since we don't have foresight, so we won't have to question every move we make. Even so, I can only sympathize with those who we might change…
My mind wandered off to think about things regarding the new world. Without hesitation, I entered through the gate.
~3rd Person P.o.V~
Liz was left in the suspended dimension by herself and she started to worry about her two friends who started their one-way journey to the new world. She wasn't particularly worried about their safety but there was a small worry tugging at the back of her mind.
‘Fate was in charge of reincarnation, so they should be fine’ Liz thought after awhile. However, the reason why Liz was worried was because of how Fate acted very childishly sometimes. Even if she is part of Liz, ever since they became two different identities Liz and Fate’s personality began to differ drastically… ‘Maybe I should have supervised the reincarnation process…’
A blinding light appeared into the empty space and a new figure appeared. The middle school girl that came from the light look exactly like Liz. Except her pupil were heterochrome with silver and gold. Her hair was also different color from Liz. While Liz had light brown hair, the girl had pure white hair.
“I finished sending Matt to Arixar and made sure Leah got there safely as well”, said the white haired girl.
“Thank you Fate”, replied Liz, “But did anything happen to the two of them while reincarnating? Nothing went wrong I presume.”
Fate replied, “Well… Um… They have been sent without of problem… And I kinda made them reincarnate separately in different household…”
“Fair enough, at least that can be expected since they wouldn't be able to date openly if they were siblings.”
“Also, I sorta made Matt into a girl because of his personality…”, whispered Fate.
Liz barely heard what Fate was saying.
“Hmm… I see, Matt was reincarnated as a girl… a girl…. A GIRL?!”, finally registering what Fate was saying, Liz yelled out in shock. “Fate! What the heck were you thinking!”
“Don’t worry, I made Leah into a boy so there is no problem!?”, Fate stuck out her tongue trying to act cute to avoid trouble.
“FATE! YOU IDIOT!!!”
“What made you turn Matt into a girl anyways?!”(Liz)
“Well… He likes to cook, has sweet tooth, and looked really girly appearance wise.”(Fate)
“Fumu, I can't deny that but why a boy for Leah.”(Liz)
Listening to Fate’s logic Liz continued calmly, and urged her to continue.
Fate’s face lit up thinking that Liz understood her, but Liz was just waiting to hear everything first before scolding her.
“Because I wanted to?”(Fate)
The stupid explanation for both of the messed of reincarnation caused Liz to snap. Blood vein over her temple became visible and her face bloom with an evil grin.
“Any last words, Fate?”(Liz)
Sensing the mood, Fate started to sweat profusely.
“No pitch forks and torches please?”(Fate)
(Kuma’s note: what Author-San asks to her reader when she updates late, Kuma.)
Liz materializes a chain saw an turns it on and asks, “better?”
(Kuma’s note: The response Author-San usually gets when asked, Kuma.)
"Hiiiiiiiiiiiiii! I'm sowwy~~~~”(Fate)
The whole dimension was filled with screams from the two girls as they run around in the empty space.
“Come here! I am gonna slice you into pieces!”(Liz)
“No! I said I'm sorry!”(Fate)
(Kuma’s note: RIP Fate)
-End Note-
As I have already said, I'm sorry for starting over again, Kuma… I know many of you liked the story as it was but with how I started the story, it was too hard to come up with new things, so this is the result of my idiocy, Kuma… T-T
I will be still using the same setting as before but decided to split the demi-human race into the beast race and the others such as the fairies, werewolves and vampires. This way there will be more plot(complication) for the two main heroes, Kuma!
Last thing, no pitch forks please, Kuma! Bear meats are not tasty so no needs to hunt me, Kuma! I also don't have much meat and taste bad, Kuma!
