Chapter 1: Picking Up Where We Fell Off

Chapter 1: Picking Up Where We Fell Off

"Paaaaiiinnn..." Alex groaned as he laid on the ground.

Alex remained in his position of exaggerated agony for a minute, befor reluctantly getting up to check for injuries. Giving himself a good feel for his body, he found that he hadn't broken anything or been stabbed by any of the debris.

"I'm not that heavy am I?" Alex asked the floor as he examined the drop. It looked to be 10 or so feet high.

Moving on from that, Alex turned his attention to the place he had fallen. It wasn't dark like upstairs, as none of the windows on this floor seemed to be boarded up. The scenery was that of an old run down house, as it should be.

"Nothing interesting? Moving on then." Alex murmured before beginning his search for a door of some kind, preferrably of the exit variety.

Alex went from room to room, finding a kitchen, bathroom, and study (If you could call a room containing nothing but an old chair and less than ten books a study). A door on the oppisite side of the door Alex used to enter the "study", was another door. Having checked every other door on the first floor, he figured this was the way out.

The door, however, lead to yet another room. It looked like a room dedicated to being an entrance.

"Who has a room like this?" Alex criticized on his way out the actual exit.

What met Alex's sight upon exiting was a cobble street in the middle of wood and cobble houses. It fit the image of an fantasy town almost perfectly. The only thing different, was the odd sense of order. Every stone of the road looked like they were set randomly, but gave off the impression they were anything but. This applied to the houses as well. The feeling was slightly discomforting, but nothing too bad.

Ignoring his discomfort, Alex started walking towards what looked to be a large tower, somewhere near the center of the town or city.

He made it at most 100 feet before something moving caught his attention. It was the tower. But towers weren't usually supposed to lean like that, and most certainly not snap in half like that. Alex would stay and watch the tower collapse like it was 9/11, but it was doing it in his general direction.

"FUCK YOU GRAVITY!" Alex shouted as he ran in the opposite direction, attempting to avoid either the tower itself, or the cloud of dust its collapse would kick up.
