Chapter 5: Change Target

Chapter 5: Change Target

I WOKE UP early and did my daily morning routine. I brush my teeth and wash my face. When I’m done, I went downstairs to have my breakfast.

“Wow, you’re early!”

The two of them are both in the dining room. Liam is in his suit, while Nico is in his casual clothes.

And here I am, still wearing my pajamas.

“I want to go outside,” I answered Nico’s mocking and take my seat.

Nanny prepared my breakfast- fried rice, fried hotdog, and fried tocino with hot choco. And just a couple of minutes, I’m ready to dig in.

“Where are you going?” Liam asked after a few moments of silence.

“Date.” I take a sip from my choco.

I saw Nico gawked from my peripheral view. And then he started laughing.

I raised an eyebrow at him and asked, “what?”

“Are you serious? A date? Aren’t you tired from your past experiences?”

And then again, I rolled my eyes at him, like duh? “Asked first what kind of date, ok?”

“Oh? So are you telling me it’s a family date?”

He continued throwing jokes at me, while Liam is silently waiting for my answers.

“Oh, yeah,” I said, full of sarcasm.

Well, if only Vyra had the chance, with Liam, I won’t mind. But nah, right now, that is so impossible.

“You and your sarcasm. You really are Liam’s younger sister.”

Liam chuckled.

Yup, I won this nonsense and Liam is praising me that way. Nico was right, we are of the same blood.

“Do you have a companion? Where is your meeting place? Where are you going?” Liam asked afterward.

“A friend. At the mall. Just anywhere.”

“Do you need mon-”

“Liam, I am also going somewhere!” Nico interrupted and looked at me with an evil smile.

Did he just steal my money? Liam is going to give me- ask me, I mean.

“Childish.”

The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement.

Nico and I both zip our lips.

“I already gave you your allowance for the month. Nico, go back to work. And Lei, watch your budget,” Liam said and stood up. He walked past me.

I pouted. The money he’s talking about was not enough for my collections of perfumes and anime merchandise. Seriously, twenty thousand a month?

I received a pat from Liam. He even messes my hair.

I pouted more. I know when he’s like this, I cannot change his mind even if I make a scene in front of him.

He’s so strict!

“You look like a duck!” Nico said and laugh.

“I hate you!”

I just get my attention to my food.

I’m NOT in my nerd mode today. I’m wearing black sailor pants, match them with a fit plain white shirt. And in case I decided to walk around all day, I will go with sneakers.

Liam dropped me off at the mall.

I called Vyra earlier and said we need to talk. I want to end her suffering or pathetic wishes about her fairytale dreams with Liam.

“Food court.” I typed and send it to her.

“She looks like our classmate.”

“Where?”

“Her!”

I can hear someone talking not far from me.

Tsk!

I ignore them and head straight to the food court near the front door of the mall. Even if someone recognizes me, I won’t give a damn. Just don’t try to mess up my day.

I went to the counter and ordered shawarma, burger, and iced tea for one. I will think of the fats, later.

“Girl!”

I was waiting for my orders to be ready. I was surprised when someone pinch my waist.

“You’re late!” I snarl at her.

Vyra is wearing a yellow and sleeveless peplum dress.

“Wow, you just came too. Don’t try to fool me,” she said and rolled her eyes at me.

“Ma’am, here’s your order.”

I immediately take my order and look for an empty seat, far from the crowd, much better. I know Vyra will be on her full volume when we get down to the topic.

When I settle down, I notice that Vyra is right behind me.

“What?”

“You won’t grab some food?”

“I thought you order for two?”

I look at the tray. I even count loud to assure her that I ordered for one, “this is just for one person.”

“You bitch!”

“It’s your fault! You know that this is a food court. What, you’re gonna window shop?”

I unwrapped the burger. And to my surprise, Vyra grabs my shawarma and began enjoying every bite.

“You don’t have money with you, do you?”

“Of course, I have! Duh? I don’t want to go back to the counter.” She said. She even licked the whole shawarma and offer it to me, “you want it back?”

“Act like a woman, will you?”

I suddenly remember I was like this too whenever I went on a date with my ex. I just want to tease him. I wonder, was he disgusted with me?

I send away these images from the past. Duh? I don’t care about him.

“So?”

“What?” I asked nonchalantly.

“Any progress?”

I smirked. “As expected, he is not interested in you. With any women to be exact.”

Her face became gloomy in just a split second. Well, that’s for the better. Cry now, move on later, and end her feelings as soon as possible.

“Maybe your brother is just so busy! Where is he interested? Business, sport-“

“Will you stop it already? My brother is not interested in you, so stop bothering. Distance yourself! Don’t dig deeper in his personal life and try to be a part of him.”

She quieted. I hope this will continue and never ask for my help with Liam.

After a few more minutes, she remains silent. I felt guilty all of the sudden. And what’s more, I am not used to her silence.

I look at her to check if she’s still alive, only to see her smiling.

I follow her eyes.

And there, the opposite a few meters away from our table, is Nico with a girl.

Changer target, huh?
