1st Place: Kukis - 27 kills
2nd Place: Q - 26 kills
3rd Place: Brie - 18 kills
“Wow! I can’t believe we all placed in the top 3. Also way to go Cookie! I can’t believe you managed to get so many kills.” Q’s face was beaming with delight, seeing how high they all were on the rankings.
“Hold on a second…” Kukis’ face fell. “Did you name me Violet Snack because you call me Cookie?”
“Uhh… yeah. Why else would I?”
“GAH! That was the reason for this terrible name!? If only I had known earlier…” Kukis pounded the ground in frustration once she realized the origins of that name. Q only shrugged in response as she watched 2 groups of players approach her. Sir Albert and his team, along with the Crios Blades all stood in front of Q wearing mixed expressions of slight fear and awe. Suddenly Vern blurted out, “Please teach us how to fight like that!”
“No.” Q instantly refused with a dazzling smile. Vern became depressed, and the other players all seemed to be frustrated that they couldn’t learn the secrets behind Q’s strength. “I won’t teach you guys how to fight. That’s way too troublesome, not to mention you’d have to be super dedicated to getting better at fighting. This is a game after all, shouldn’t you be looking for ways to have fun instead?”
“That is correct but…” Sir Albert hesitated to speak for a moment, but then looked at Q with a determined look. “We would like at the very least a glimpse at the secret behind your strength.”
“Hmm… a glimpse huh?” Q was contemplating whether to tell them or not, but once she saw their intimidating expressions, she caved in. “Well I became this strong by fighting and training in real life.”
“Fighting in real life?” Vern wondered out loud, “You mean like…”
“Yeah, join a dojo or take up fencing classes. I used to go to a lot of dojos and trained in various martial arts in the past. That’s the main reason I’m good at fighting.” Q stated.
“What’s the other reason?” Melun asked curiously.
“That’s… special circumstances.” Q avoided answering the question, but the other players wouldn’t let her slide by like that. Luckily Q was saved from having to answer that question with the arrival of two individuals.
“This was… truly unexpected.” Malcolm said, overseeing the destruction caused by Q’s spell.
“GAHAHAHA! But it’s a pleasant surprise!” Cadby laughed as he patted Q’s back (which felt more like heavy blows). “To think that our long conflict would have ended like this. I don’t think anybody could have predicted this.”
“Quite.” Malcolm nodded. “But… what faction is the Prim Roses from? Are you affiliated with either of our houses?” He wondered.
Q smiled as he said that. “You could say that we’re technically a part of both of your houses.” Q then indicated for the house leaders to look behind them, and what they saw surprised them. Sharon and Marilyn were approaching the battlefield, followed by a few other girls.
“Ahh, my sweet Sharon! Have you come to check on my wellbeing? That truly touches me from the bottom of my heart, but never fear as I am perfectly oka- GUGH!”
“Marilyn! It’s good to see you here. The adventurers put on quite the amazing fight and- ARGH!”
As soon as Sharon and Marilyn approached their husbands, they instantly gave them a strong hit and caused the two to collapse on the ground. Once the two men were rolling on the ground in pain, Sharon and Marilyn began to berate the two of them.
“Haa…” Sharon let out an exasperated sigh. “The only thing I came to check on was the outcome of the battle. I felt a powerful tremor of magic and became concerned so Marilyn and I made our way over here.”
“What!? You mean you didn’t come out here to check on the status of your beloved husband?” Malcolm had a look of dismay on his face. While he was being heartbroken, Marilyn was also lecturing her husband.
“I’m sure the adventurers put up quite a fight, but why does that excuse you from making sure they stay as safe as possible? Even if they come back after dying, it doesn’t mean that death isn’t a painful experience for them.” Marilyn said with a look of contempt.
“Er… I didn’t think about that. Heh.” Cadby tried to laugh it off, but that earned him another hit. By this time most of the other players had all finished addressing their rewards, and simply watched the leaders of the houses get chewed out by their wives. 5 minutes passed until Marilyn stopped lecturing her husband, and had to stop Sharon who still looked like she had a ton of things to say.
The leaders of the houses then faced all the players who were patiently waiting in silence. Sharon spoke up first, as she addressed the crowd. “Hello adventurers. Some of you may not know me, but I am Sharon Velorie, wife of Malcolm Velorie and one of the two heads of the Velorie house. First of all, I’d like to apologize to all of you for making you have to fight each other. This conflict was originally supposed to be between our two houses, but then somehow you were dragged in.”
Hearing her speech, Q felt slightly guilty for a moment as she was the one who incited the event in the first place. The players suddenly spoke out though, clearing away her feelings of guilt.
“Don’t worry about it!” One of them shouted.
“Yeah, we got to learn magic and swordplay! This was really fun for us.”
“Us ‘adventurers’ are fine with this, so you don’t have to apologize.”
Hearing these responses, Sharon’s expression lightened a bit and she let out a relieved sigh. At this point Marilyn took over as she spoke to the crowd. “Well, Sharon’s done apologizing so I suppose I should be thanking huh?” Marilyn laughed. “Oh right, I’ve seen a few of you training, but I don’t think everyone knows me. I’m Marilyn Breckden, Cadby’s wife and the other head of the Breckden house. Thanks to all you adventurers who fought on behalf of our houses.”
The players once again shouted out their gratitude at being a part of this event, putting a smile on Marilyn’s face. “Haha, now you all sound like real warriors! But I think that the best warriors have to be congratulated right? Can I get the Prim Roses who participated in this battle to come up?” The players all looked around for the Prim Roses participants, and began whispering amongst themselves once they found Q and her group.
“Hey, it’s them isn’t it?” One player said.
“Yeah, I think their names were Scarlet Spark, White Flash and Violet Snack.” Upon hearing the last part, Kukis’ face twitched but she managed to hold herself back from going berserk again.
“Scarlet Spark is the one who made that big explosion at the end right? Did anyone else see it clearly?”
“Dude, I was hit by that thing. It instantly dropped my health from half to zero in a second.”
“That’s insane…”
Hm? How did they see that I made that crater? Q wondered. She didn’t have the opportunity to ask around though as she walked over to the place where the house leaders were waiting. Q, Brie and Kukis all stood in a row, facing the leaders and waited for their commands. Sharon and Marilyn smiled as they looked at the three girls.
“You three are full of surprises aren’t you? Especially you, Q. To think you were hiding such a powerful magic spell.” Sharon simply shook her head. “Well, even though you three were a part of the Prim Roses, I had never thought we would participate in this battle, much less win it. Unfortunately because of this we hadn’t prepared any rewards for you. In exchange, you can name anything you want and we’ll try our best to get it for you.”
Q exchanged glances with Brie and Kukis, not sure as to what to say. Kukis spoke up first though as she said, “I’d like some good alchemy tools please. Preferably portable ones.”
“No problem.” Sharon smiled. “We should have some lying around somewhere.”
“I… I would like a strong glove with a good grip. I haven’t found one yet that satisfies my requirements.” Brie said.
“Hah, we have all kinds of protective equipment in our armory. I’m sure we can find one that suits you.” Marilyn laughed.
Everyone’s gazes then landed on Q as she had yet to choose a reward. For a long minute Q stood there with her eyes closed and her hand on her chin, thinking about what to obtain. While Q was making her decision, the players began to speculate on what she could possibly want.
“What do you think she’s going to choose?”
“Maybe a strong weapon? With her magic being that powerful, I don’t think she needs another spell.”
Unauthorized duplication: this narrative has been taken without consent. Report sightings.
“Actually if she got another strong spell she would definitely be above the rest when it comes to magic.”
The players were making all kinds of wild guesses, wondering what Q could possibly want. Meanwhile Q was still thinking about what she should get. Hmm… I could ask for another knitted item from Lily. If the things she makes are as soft as this scarf, I’d wear a full wardrobe of them! Ah, but I can’t squander this opportunity on a soft item. Though then again, this is the perfect opportunity to get a soft item… Q was undergoing an intense debate on whether to grab something that would make her stronger, or just get another soft item.
Eventually she made her decision and said, “I want better tailoring equipment and materials.” All the players were slightly disappointed in her choice, as they would no doubt have chosen a spell or a weapon.
Sharon nodded saying, “Of course. We’ll prepare the best equipment and materials for you.”
Brie gave Q a strange look as she said, “That is quite surprising. I thought you might have chosen another soft item from Lily.”
“Well, I was going to but then I realized that if I train my tailoring skill to advanced levels I could easily make items as soft as the ones Lily makes. I guess I have another thing to focus on right?” Q smiled while Brie and Kukis just gave a helpless shrug. Suddenly Q remembered something as she asked Sharon and Marilyn, “What are you going to do now? Since the Prim Roses have won, the town is under your control right?”
The players also nodded at this, curious as to what the state of the town would be. Sharon and Marilyn exchanged glances, and laughed. “Well the first thing that would happen is that the conflict between the Velorie and Breckden houses will be over.” Sharon said.
“But Sharon my love, we cannot possibly- GUGH!” Malcolm tried to protest but received a heavy fist in return.
“No more fighting.” Sharon put on a serious face as she stared down at Malcolm. “It’s pointless and is just a bother for everyone around here. In the first place it doesn’t matter who settles down in this land. The two houses should just peacefully coexist here.”
“Wait, are you saying that the whole conflict between the houses is just a territorial dispute?” Q asked with a skeptical look on her face.
“Yeah, that’s about the jist of it.” Marilyn affirmed. “The Breckden’s ancestors came to this land first and settled down here for a while, but over time they decided to move away to find other places to live. After the Breckdens left, the Velories decided to live in this land and developed it further. The Breckdens then came back, and both sides argued over who should own the land. And these two,” she indicated Cadby and Malcolm, “think it’s worthwhile to continue arguing over such a pointless subject.”
“Well, I guess that’s a good reason for a conflict, but I somehow thought it would be more…” Q trailed off. The other players were also nodding their heads, having a similar mindset.
Sharon smiled at the crowd and clapped her hands together. “Alright, well then I think it’s about time that we all disperse. After all, repairs have to be made to the square now before anything else.” She stared fixedly at Q.
“Ahahaha…” Q let out a dry laugh as she turned away from Sharon’s gaze.
The players then left the area, discussing the outcome of the match. Most of their subjects were about the different skills used, tactics that could be employed in a similar situation, and above all else, Q’s prowess. While the players all left to do their own thing, Q was approached by Sir Albert’s team and the Crios Blades again. Before they could say anything though, Q preemptively asked a question.
“Hey, how was it that you were able to see what happened after you died? I’m hearing players talking about me using my Magic Fist but I don’t recall them being hit by it.”
“Oh, that’s simple.” Fortis explained. “When we died, we disappeared but our vision didn’t. It was like… floating in the sky and looking down at the battle. We couldn’t move around but we were still able to see what happened after we died.”
“Oh. That sounds interesting.” Q said. “Well anyway, I’ll see you guys in a few days or so.”
“You’re leaving?” Brie asked.
“Yeah, I’m visiting my family in the hospital soon. See you guys soon!” Q pressed the logout button and left the game.

A/N: And so we end the conflict in the town of Foria.
Well, that sort of ended abruptly (at least in my mind) but that's just how things are. Now I'd like to mention something, this is basically the end of the first 'book' in the things that I have planned for the future. So... commemoration or something? I dunno.
Regarding the poll, I'd also like to hear whether you like the more singular focused fight, or the more general overlook (not that I even know what I'm going for XD)
Note: I only uploaded Q's character page and skills since they're the only ones that changed (because numbers)
Anyway, thanks for reading everyone!
Fun-fact: Humans can hear sounds as low as 12 Hz
