“Yesterday I went on a date for the first time with one of my friend’s sister, she was like, really nice, we think we’re more cut out to be friends tho, I might introduce you to her some time!”
It was the next day and Falis had made it to school without being ambushed by red hair guy.
The nightmare he had last night had him sweating when he woke up, but when he reached school, listening to this guy, who he now knew was named Jen, had given him some refuge from the pain his thoughts brought him.
The door flew open and the girl from the 24hr shop walked in.
“Synthy! There you are! I’ve been looking for you all morning! Did you come specially to see me?”
Jen said with a smile, standing up, his chair falling to the floor.
“Uhh, no I actually came here to see him”, she said, nodding in Falis’ direction.
“Oh, I didn’t know you two already knew each other.”
“Not really, he’s the guy I told you about at the shop yesterday.”
“… ohhh yeahh”
Jen did not remember that happening.
“Um I don’t actually know your name…”
“Oh! Sorry, my name is Synthesis, feel free to abbreviate it how you wish to.”
“Can I call you Synth?”
“Sure!”
After Falis introduced himself, Jen and Synth chatted and Falis listened, when the bell eventually rang, Synth told Falis to meet her next to the vending machines at lunch, in order to repay him. He told her that she really didn’t have to, but she insisted.
As the day dragged on, it came to the lunch period, so Falis, followed by Jen, walked to the meet up spot.

“You’ve been pretty social today Falis, something good happen?”
It had been the exact opposite, but Falis answered relatively honestly.
“No I just … wanted to try to get to know a few more people.”
“I guess my months of pestering finally paid off.”
“So you knew that you were pestering me?”
“All’s well that ends well.”
Falis sighed as they came up to the vending machine.
“Where’s Synthy?”
“Well she didn’t really specify, she kinda just said at lunch.”
They waited a couple minutes.
“Do you think she meant later?”
“Not sure … though I do have an idea of where she might be right now.”
“Oh? Where?”
“Head to room F6, it’s on the first floor, at the end of the first corridor.”
“Why would she be-”
“Don’t question it and just go! I’ll wait here and if she’s not there just come back this way!”
“A-alright then…”
Falis set off towards the stairs, as Jen sat down on the floor, taking out a puzzle and fidgeting with it.
The first floor was relatively quiet as most people were downstairs or outside eating lunch. Falis walked down the corridor, to the last room.
He knocked twice.
No answer.
He knocked again.
Yet again, no answer.
Grabbing the handle of the door, Falis pushed the door open and to his surprise there was someone inside.
That someone was lying on the table.
“H- helloo…”
“Hmmff…”
The person on the table rolled over and fell off of the table.
“Agh-! Wha-! Where- !? Oh..”
This person, upon hitting the ground, had seemed confused at first but soon realized where they were.
This person was Asrell, the head of the Elevator Club.
Falis did not know this.
“Neri… is that you? Have you come to steal the club papers again?…”
“U-uh no I’m not-”
“Ugh, I can’t see … where are my glasses?”
Asrell began patting around on the floor, seemingly searching for her glasses.
“H-hold on.”
Falis walked over to the table she had been lying on and picked up the glasses hanging dangerously on the edge of it.
He handed her the glasses.
“Ooohh, you really aren’t Neri…”
Falis didn’t know who this Neri person was but wasn’t looking for them or this table girl.
“Um, have you seen Synth?”
“Ohhh, Synthy? No- wait yes, I think she was in here earlier … something about someone called Loria needing a … um … sorry I don’t remember, oh and someone else called Falis, sorry I was half asleep so I don’t remember much…”
Falis recognised the name Loria from somewhere but couldn’t really recall where.
“That’s fine, I’ll be going now.”
“You aren’t here to join the club?”
“No, sorry…”
Falis started walking away, then he turned back.
“Maybe another time.”
Maybe joining a club would be a good excuse to spend less time at home.
