Chapter 11. A weird dream.

Chapter 11. A weird dream.

Galus and Edgar were tasked with disposing of the poor pumpkin heads body, it was heavy as fuck, but they did manage to drag it outside, it wasn't until then Galus realized that yes, he was getting stronger.

After they managed to carry the body outside, Galus suggested burying him and Edgar gave him a look and said, "why, he's not touched by grace, erd tree burials are for those who are."

Galus shook his head. "My God this place sucks, you die a hero and you can't even get a proper burial, just because you were born wrong. You do know it died protecting your daughter, right? It deserves something more than being thrown off a cliff like a bag of garbage."

Edgar lowered his head slightly. "What would you have me do?"

Galus sighed. "Gather firewood, a lot of it, like entire logs, where I come from we have more than one way of honoring the dead."

Edgar nodded and grabbed his broken halberd, Galus looked at it, he should probably get him a new one...

Galus knelt next to the creature, and undid the locks on it's brass pumpkin. And opened the cold brass pumpkin like a giant metal clam shell. he saw what laid inside of that, its looked like a bears, only with long matted grey hair.

Eventually Edgar came back with a small tree dragging behind him, the guy was strong Galus had to give him that. "What're you doing?"

Galus looked over his shoulder. "Looking at something new, I've never seen their heads before, it's always covered by giant ugly torture devices developed by the order of golden sadists."

Edgar grabbed Galus on the shoulder. "Enough of your blasphemous quips boy."

Galus stood from where he was crouching. "Listen, Edgar, you want to know a secret that your order would rather keep hidden?" Edgar looked at him warily. "The frenzied flame, it's all their fault, sure it's always been there, but the golden order helped it grow like a cancer, it blazes even now below Leyndell just waiting for someone to let it out, and Shabriri? It was the golden order who caused him such woes, torturing him for god knows how long, and it was his suffering that sparked the tinderbox and lit the flames of frenzy that once laid dormant. Now it feeds upon the suffering of men and women who wish they could die but the older won't let them. All the while Shabriri has become the consciousness by which the flames operate. So, Edgar, next time you ask who's responsible for your daughters peril, take a good hard look at that big fucking tree, and you'll find your answer."

Galus brushed his gauntleted hand off his shoulder grabbing the tree and started breaking off branches. "You'll find that the more you peel back the gold leaf, the more shit you find hidden beneath. I'm gonna need another one of these."

Edgar looked downright defeated and Galus felt bad about basically crushing whatever faith he had in his religion, honestly who the fuck was he to tell him what beliefs he could and couldn't have, hell, his former religion Christianity had plenty of shit stains on it's record if you looked hard enough.

Edgar had come back with a larger tree, and Galus nodded. "One more like that and we could get this funeral pure going. Then I can say a few words, and go to sleep, I haven't slept in nearly two days."

After Edgar came back with the last tree they got to cutting it up, Galus using his Kukri to sever thick branches and hack at the wood.

If you stumble upon this tale on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

After which he piled it up into a bed like shape. He went out and put the dried husks of the Miranda flowers on the pyre in a decorative way as they still had a bit of color in their petals. However, Selen walked up from her dungeon, seeing the corpse of the body, and snapped at us not to light the pyre. Galus and Edgar looked at eachother.

Galus stepped forward. "What's up Sel, we're just about to read this big guy some stuff to send him off on a high note."

Selen looked at him confused, then snapped at him again. "Don't call me Sel, apprentice."

Galus shrugged. "So, teacher, what would you have us do? He's dead, did you want to perform an autopsy before we burned the body?"

Selen actually smiled. "Yes, yes I believe I would."

Galus sighed. "Have at him teach, let me know if the frenzied flame had any overs effects on his body other than the burns. I'm going to sleep."

Galus went downstairs and fell to sleep on the cement floor of the outer room. He once again misses modern amenities, like insulation, heaters, mattresses, and chocolate... He quickly fell asleep regardless.

-------------

Galus looked around, he was in a field dotted with silver and gold Lillie's, he had a feeling he knew where he was, though when he saw the two kids playing some form of chess on a tree stump, he saw that they had essentially gotten into a stalemate one what he assumed to be the kings the only ones left on the board. He approached, seeing one of them was a young girl with long silver hair, and the other was a young boy with long golden hair.

He opens his mouth to speak but the girl speaks first. "James Arnoldson, how are you enjoying your time here."

James thought on that for nearly a minute, before nodding. "I am. Despite this world's faults, and distinct lack of chocolate, but I always hated injustice and inequality, I am not a perfect person, nor do I claim to be a hero, but being able to avert some of these tragic fates that have befallen them, it makes me happy, tell me, Miquella, Trina, is this your way of protecting your mind from Mohg's..." He shuddered. "Influence"

The young Miquella tilted his head. "You figured that out fast."

James laughed. "Well, it's a theory I've had for... nearly a year now, You two are much akin to Radagon and Marika-"

The two kids both spoke at the exact same time in a borderline angry voice. "In what way?"

James sighed. "In the way that you're both the same person. Anyways, Miquella, you're beyond fucking brilliant, there is no way that you would go into your transformation state being so vulnerable, and have absolutely no fail-safes. I always figured that since saint Trina was likely your other half, if that was the case, then she was likely protecting your mind while your body is... Changed."

Trina looked at Miquella. "You really chose a smart one, he has a good conscience but, do you think he can save us?"

James looked confused. "Is that why I'm here, to save you? Listen, I just don't want conflict, I want to live a nice, peaceful life, not run around slaying demigods, last thing I need is the rune hunter attempting to murder me for a great rune."

Trina looked at Miquella in a 'I told you so' way.

Miquella just held a hand up to her. And looked to James. "Listen, I know you want that, and I'll make you a deal, help me, and I will give you a home at the Haligtree tree. There you can live your life as you wish."

James sat down. "Alright, but three conditions."

Miquella raised an eyebrow. "Go on."

Galus nodded, holding up a finger. "First, and probably most importantly, you don't fuck me over like you did with those pricks at castle Sol. I get why you did that, they were using albinauric slaves, I have always hated slavery in any form so I suspect we won't have that problem."

Miquella nodded. "Done, next?"

Galus held up a second figure. "You cure any afflicted by the outergods influence such as General Radahn and my friend Blaidd who is under the greater wills nonexistent thumb."

Miquella nodded again. "When I've managed to break through with my research on that I will do just that."

James nodded. "And three, I'd like a set of better armor, this one stinks of ammonia sulfur and betrayal."

Miquella sighed. "We're in a dream, the best I can do is knight you, you'll be my shield much like my sister Malenia is my blade."

James thought for a second. He'd be losing his independence, but there were worse masters out there, he shuddered at the thought of serving Godrick. "I accept."

Trina nodded, a smile on her face. A silver sword with engravings inlayed across the blade and guard appeared in her hand in a whirl of purple mist and violet blossoms. She raised the sword and Galus bowed as she gently rested it on Galus' shoulder. "Do you, Galus, swear to defend us defend our people and enforce our will. Will you bring those who dane to destroy the world we dream to make to their knees."

Galus raised his head. "I swear."

Miquella walked forward and a sword of his own Appearing in golden sparks, this one of unalloyed gold with amber inlayed along the blade guard and pommel. He rested it on his other shoulder the two standing back to back, he'd definitely be drawing this. "Do you, Galus, swear to raise the weak to be strong so they might one day be equal to those who hold their chains."

Galus looked at him. "I swear."

They looked at eachother, and nodded. "Then rise, Galus, Shield of Miquella, hear your first orders and obey, find out sister, bring her to her senses, and help her, and kill Mohg." They spoke with such sync that it sounded like they were one voice, it was a bit unnerving.

------------

Galus woke he looked around, confused, the dream was clear in his mind, no way he was forgetting it amy time soon, he glanced down, seeing something, a lilly had grown next to him.one with golden and silvery petals, plucked it, and carefully put it in his bag. He wasn't sure what it was for, but he knew now for damn certain that his dream was very real. He got up, popping his back, and then took out his blank book and started drawing.
