Is that a person? No, huh? I must be hallucinating, there's no way a person can fly through the sky like that, hahaha. I laughed it out. Even though I literally was also flying through the sky not even moments ago.

I waited a bit longer and I actually saw the figure of a person clearly!

It really is a person... Are these magicians common? But that insane guy in the hut called me a mortal, so there are clearly people who can manipulate magic and people that cannot wield magic in this world. Wait, that flying guy is coming awfully close!

I squinted my eyes to see this person more clearly. It seems this person was actually female. She came closer and closer until she was hovering above the hut. She landed gracefully as her long hair swayed in the wind, she was quite the beauty.

I quickly cut my bindings and laid prone on the ground.

It seems she knows this hut magician guy. Let's observe for a bit longer.

She landed a reasonable distance from the hut, she slowly walked closer to the door. She stopped about 3 meters away.

"Brother, you filthy vermin! Come out here and face your bigger sister if you dare!" She shouted.

Brother? It seems like those two are siblings then, and they both have vile mouths. I hope they don't notice me, I should be well hidden though.

I pulled some bushes out of their roots and scattered them over my body. I carefully peeked through the tiny slits of the bushes as I observed.

I looked at the girl, she stood menacingly in front of the door. After a while the door did indeed open, magic hut guy walked out with a frown, looking at his sister with annoyance. They started talking but I could not hear anything as I was quite a distance away. I only heard the girl earlier because she was shouting, but now they are talking at a normal volume.

Damn I can't hear what they're saying, but I can somewhat guess from their lips and expressions. In any case it seems the bigger sister is angry at his brother. The brother, he seems to just be annoyed. Hmm, is there any way to perhaps amplify my hearing with the nanobots? Maybe, wait no. Let's see, from what I remember reading about, in the inside of the ear there are tiny little hairs that vibrate when sound passes through them. And these tiny little hairs then convert these movements to electrical signals that the brain can then use and I gain the ability to hear. That's just the gist of it, but first of all, I have no way to interact with these hairs because they are separated from the brain where the nanobots are. Even if I can modify the signals that the auditory nerve gives to the brain, I wont be able to amplify something that isn't there. If I wanted to improve my hearing I would need a different design of my ear, for example a longer funnel or more hair cells. So improving hearing is a no go.

I kept thinking on how I could possibly be able to hear what they were saying from over here.

Ah! Maybe I can utilize the nanobots to calculate things? I mean this bracelet is almost a supercomputer, so it should be possible for it to do complex calculations.

I looked at the thick bracelet, I almost lost my self in the impossible size of this supercomputer.

How the hell did they power this thing anyways? I don't see any solar cells or anything, they must have some sort of energy source inside this bulky thing.

My thoughts derailed from what was important, that is why I missed the fact that the two siblings were gone!

Shit! Where did they go? I got distracted for a second and I lost sight of them!

I looked to the first probable place they would disappear to.

It seems they went inside the hut. I probably can't reap any benefits from this, I should get away from this place before they discover me.

I dreaded going into the forest again, but at least I was now fully healed and my hunger appeased. One can even say that I have been incredibly lucky! I've had a row of bad events happen one after another earlier. First of all, I died and left behind my original world, after that I was attacked by barbarians and tied up, I also ate poisonous berries and almost puked up all my contents. After all these bad events I finally had a fortuitous encounter, and that is experiencing magic!

This memory of seeing magic will be etched deep inside my mind. It's almost like a first kiss, I'll never forget about it.

It's too bad, I wanted to sneak inside the hut and see if I could find anything about magic. Maybe he has some book about it in that chest of his?

I looked at the hut one last time before I left quietly. I started wandering the forest very slowly and quietly, afraid that a wild beast might discover me. My eyes darted everywhere as I tried to process everything in my surroundings.

Suddenly, a good idea enters my mind.

So I can't modify my hearing or my vision because they are organs outside of the nanobots reach. So instead of doing anything with these, what if I let the nanobots help me process the things I'm seeing and hearing. The way I'm going now I am overexerting my brain to process sensory information due to my nervousness and fear, I dare not let even a shadow pass unnoticed by my gaze. I have to try!

Nanobots, process environment from hearing and sight.

Woah. This is, amazing.

I looked around, I could see every movement and every little detail of everything as long as it was within my vision. All of this information seemingly appeared out of nowhere in my brain! I no longer needed to overuse my brain in order to process all this information.

Truly, what a revolutionary technology! The uses for this is limitless now! I can use it to aid in my cognitive processing!

My excitement grew due to this new discovery.

Maybe I can make it do more stuff? Let's see, the useful functions for me now would be something like... Ah! Maybe memory! If I can make it improve my memory or at least be able to record it, then I could walk in any direction and make a mental map! It would be tremendously helpful.

I thought deeply about how I could explain to the nanobots what function I wanted it to execute. I did not after all have a deep understanding of the brain, I do have some limited knowledge from reading a few research papers but this might be outdated. The human brain is immensely complicated, this is also why I was all the more impressed by those nanobots for being able to carry out my earlier command.

Wait. Isn't it easy? Since the nanobots are already processing my sensory information I can also make them store it if they have some kind of storage device.

I looked at the bracelet, an uncertainty appeared in my mind.

How can this tiny bracelet have a performance comparable to a supercomputer and have lots of storage? It's just not possible, unless he could also fit something on the nanobots as well? I doubt he could fit many things on there because of its size though. Nonetheless it's worth a try right?

I was stunned by what the nanobots just said.

Quantum spin state? Don't tell me this is actually a quantum computer? Oooh, no wonder. That's how they squeezed such performance out of such a small device. I have actually seen a quantum computer before when I was at work. That one was a lot larger though and was an unholy amount more powerful than the most powerful traditional supercomputer. If I remember correctly it had a few thousand qubits, but qubits are super hard to work with. The more I learn about my fathers creation the more I am shocked, although the magic is even more shocking.

I pondered about what the nanobots said.

12 hours though, that's not enough time. I guess even these nanobots can't store this information in my brain, I suppose modifying my memory is a bit too hard. Might as well cancel this task since it's useless.

I formed a sentence that made sense. All the other times I've tried to give commands to my nanobots I just had to think about what I wanted it to do and it works.

These nanobots seem to be always monitoring my brain signals. It kinda feels as if I don't have any privacy anymore, but thankfully it seems as if the technology level here is very low so nobody can hack my nanobots. Well, to be honest I have no idea how these nanobots work so I don't know if they're hackable or not.

I begrudgingly started moving my legs and scanned my surroundings.

Let's put the matter of the nanobots to another day for now, the help it's giving me right now is good enough. Let's not forget that I'm in a hostile environment and therefore I need to move stealthily.

I walked slowly albeit a little bit faster than before. I had no idea where I was going, my sense of direction was in shambles after I got kidnapped. I just picked one direction and continued walking through the eerie forest.

I've been walking for a while now and It's getting dark. Should I find shelter? But everywhere I look there's just trees. I haven't seen any strange creatures yet, but I wouldn't like to try my chances to sleep on the ground here.

I racked my brain in order to come up with a solution, but I couldn't think of anything.

I guess the best I can do is climb a tree and try to sleep there without falling down somehow? If I had rope I could tie my self to a branch, sure it wouldn't be very comfortable but its the best I can do in this situation. But I don't have any rope in the first place.

I tried looking around to try to find something sturdy that I could use to tie my self up with. I surveyed the area with my nanobots aided vision, there was a lot of plants, grass and trees in the area but nothing that resembled a rope.

Maybe I'll try staying awake? I absolutely refuse to sleep here on the ground.

I shuddered thinking about that horrific bear like creature coming and smashing me to pizza sauce or picking me up and eating me while I'm sleeping.

It'll become a problem though, if I can't make it out of this forest soon, then I will have to find somewhere to sleep. I know it's possible to stay awake for many days but the trade off is quite severe, it's not a good idea while I'm in such a dangerous place.

I looked around.

I say dangerous, but, I haven't seen a single soul around here. I've been walking for what? 5-7 hours? Maybe I'm already out of that dangerous forest?

I'll just continue walking and see if I can find some place to sleep. I thought as I continued walking through the silent and gloomy forest.

I looked out the window of my spectacular building. The trees gently swayed with the wind, I contentedly stared at this beautiful scenery.

However, a frown quickly took place as I felt my warning gem vibrate.

Hm? Someone is wandering around my territory.

I stood up from my chair and I held out one arm and activated my personal storage gem, I looked at the small rift in space that was slowly taking place. I dipped my hands into the rift, it had an area of 8m3 inside, I carefully searched around for the item I was looking for, and I found it, in the corner of this tiny space a small and perfectly round item was laying.

I grabbed this item and pulled it out of my personal storage, when I looked at it closer I could see squiggly lines carved into it. Just a small look at this inconspicuous item would shock those that were rank 4 and above and had inside knowledge. One could feel the great power that this item was emitting, this was the rank 6 rewind stone, it is capable of rewinding time by 1 hour.

Rank 6 rewind stone. This one is quite rare. Hehe, I was quite lucky when I got this, I actually managed to fool that old geezer and sweep this from out under his legs.

I took great care of it as I placed it in my pocket.

Just as a precaution I will take this with me from now on. I didn't dare carry this around with me before or else those guys over at divine institute might be able to feel its aura. However I've been slowly suppressing it in my personal storage so it's aura is contained for some dozen days.

The only thing that is sad is the fact that its a one use item.

I started walking to the door as I synchronized with my vision gem. The vision gem allows me to see from the sky without physically being there, unfortunately It was only rank 4 so its limited to only 16km.

My vision abruptly changed, I was looking down at a animal. This animal was huge and looked very menacing, it had horns and red eyes.

Hm, so it's a flaming lonath? This animal has the same affinity as I do. They're quite troublesome but they're not very powerful, it should be an easy fight. The only thing I have to watch out for is if it has any rank 4 gems.

I exited out of my heavenly abode and stood on the grass. I activated rank 3 sight gem and rank 4 run gem, this is a combination most people use today to move huge distances quickly. The sight gem is capable of boosting your vision, improving reaction time and the distance you can see. The run gem can boost your running speed. This is a good combination because if you just use run gem you will not be able to react if an obstacle suddenly appears in your vision.

I started running towards the life form that dared trespass into my territory.

A couple minutes later I stopped running and looked up at the sky. I used flight gem rank 3 and frictionless gem rank 3, flight allows me to fly at a speed of 40km/h and frictionless gives me the ability to reduce all sources of friction by 5 times. This is truly a heavenly combination, just like the combination of run gem and sight gem. Usually you don't need the sight gem when you're flying but this is only applicable to rank 3 and below since any over that and you're going to be flying very fast. Unfortunately the more stones you activate the heavier the consumption of your stored energy you're going to use, and there is a limited number you can activate.

I flew up into the air at a slightly slower speed than 40km/h, after all this is just the theorized speed. If you ranked up frictionless to rank 6 or higher you will get much less friction and be able to fly faster, when you manage to achieve a rank above 5 there will be a qualitative change. You will break through the cycle of only being able to double the power of every rank to being able to almost triple it. at ranks above 7 you will be able to quadruple the power and as for ranks above 9 you will be unmatched in that generation, nobody knows if there are ranks above 10.

I smiled as I poured energy into my main affinity and created a fireball. I hovered in the air for a couple of minutes while I charged up my fireball, it quickly grew from a size of 10 cm to a huge 5 meters. I forced the ball to become denser by squeezing these fire particles tighter together, this way the fireball will look smaller but the energy released will be much higher.

I played around with the fireball that suddenly turned smaller, now the diameter was around 50cm. If you were close to this fireball you would feel immense pressure and heat, any normal human would be incinerated within a range of 10 meters. Even in the surrounding air, all the moisture within the air immediately evaporated, it was like I was holding a miniature sun. My body was naturally resistant to this special type of fire because it is my main affinity.

I controlled this fireball and made it fly far away, it was heading towards the giant animal!

The flaming lonath suddenly sensed something was wrong and looked towards my direction. It immediately turned cautious, it did not see the fireball yet.

I could see it activate some kind of defense as its skin turned into solid iron!

I snorted as I willed my fireball to quickly collide with this animal. Finally, the animal saw the fireball and was shocked at the heat and pressure it felt, it quickly tried to counteract it by making its own fireball. But the animal could only make a fireball the size of 2 meters in that short period of time. Mine was previously 5 meters but I condensed it into 50cm so it had a bit more than 3 times more power compared to the animals fireball.

Quickly the 2 fireballs met each other and a huge shock wave traveled through the forest, suddenly, the fireball that was several times smaller than the big one completely destroyed this fireball and hit the animals iron skin. The fireball exploded and made easy work of the animals defense as it took out a huge chunk of its body, moreover the fire was still burning and the heat quickly melted this metal as the animal was severely wounded. The reason why my fireball was only 3 times as powerful was due to the special characteristic of my affinity, and that was that the fire could burn for a very long time in exchange for some off the initial energy release.

I descended down from the skies and landed a couple dozen meters away from this flaming lonath as I looked at the animal melt.

Hmph, I don't even have to do any more. It's going to die by itself at this rate.

I silently observed this animal closely so it wouldn't try to pounce at me at the last second.

And as expected this animal roared loudly and activated an unknown movement stone to quickly arrive at the spot I was standing. It swept it's claws straight towards me with a terrifying power behind it.

Hahaha, this is how it should be! A real challenge is always welcome! I quickly got excited and battle intent flourished within me as I hurriedly dodged his claws.

The claws passed by me without touching a single piece of my clothes. However i saw a tiny speck of fire in the claws as it passed by me, it quickly grew and suddenly exploded in size as it engulfed me.

The heat burned me a tiny bit, but I was mostly resistant to weak fire as I was already rank 4.

I activated rank 2 precognition gem and rank 4 run gem as I made a counterattack. I could see into the future for 1 second with the precognition stones power so this animals attacks were very easy to dodge. However, precognition used up a lot of energy so I could not use it for very long even though it was only rank 2.

I quickly wore the the flaming lonath down with my flames, even though I could not accumulate the energy very long because it would interrupt me.

After fighting the animal for 5 more minutes it could no longer handle my attacks as it fell down with a loud thump.

I activated rank 4 spoils gem as I rightfully took all of the animals stones. It had a rank 3 iron skin gem, a rank 3 gravityless gem and a rank 4 light step gem.

A combination move! This combination is quite good, light step gem boosts your speed according to how much you weigh and gravityless makes gravity affect you less. There is a weakness in this move though, if you reduce gravity on yourself it is naturally easier to lose control and you can easily be blown far away. It's no wonder this animal was really weak, it's because this combination move did not suit this animal at all! If it had rank 4 iron skin instead it would have lasted a lot longer.

I shook off my thoughts as I flew up into the air again.

I landed at a spot after flying for a couple of minutes.

It should be around here, I felt some life form around this area.

I thought about it and found it weird that I felt such a weak life form, I almost missed it earlier. This life form was outside of the area of my warning stone that I had placed at my hut, but it was very close to me so I could feel it. And it is a life form that is very similar to me or else I likely wouldn't have noticed, so its probably a human.

Just to be sure I'll charge up my fireball.

I charged up my fireball to around 3 meters and didn't bother compressing it. I felt the life form coming closer but I couldn't discern which direction, I couldn't use vision stone in this situation either because I not only have to know that there's a life form in the area but I have to know exactly where it is. And that's why I use vision stone in conjunction with warning stone, as the warning stone will give me coordinates to where it is as well.

Suddenly I heard some noise coming from the west and I quickly turned around and directed all the heat towards this direction.

I looked down at this person, he looked very weak and his clothes were all tattered.

Strange, how strange. How can a mortal be in this forest?

I slowly walked towards him while applying pressure with the heat of my fireball.

His clothes are of very weird design as well, I have not seen that kind of design anywhere. I suppose it could be a design from some backwater village. But still, the fact that he is here is the biggest factor. This forest is known as the most dangerous within this region.

I suddenly thought of something as I rapidly extinguished my fireball.

What if he is an otherwordly person?
