"Darui. It is time to meet up with Sensei. He will be mad if you are late again," a young girl's voice could be heard from outside the apartment.
A dark-skinned, preteen pulled the blanket from over his face. He had to wipe away the white hair covering his face, only to reveal a pair of tired, black eyes. Darui yawned as he sat up before jumping off of the bed and quickly putting on his sleeveless black shirt and matching pants. He then put on the single strapped flak jacket that most Kumo chunin and jonin wore.
"Coming," Darui yelled as he grabbed his bag of shuriken and kunai pouch. He then attached his staff to his back before quickly putting on his shoes and rushing out the front door. As soon as he got out of the door, he saw two girls around his age.
One was a young lady with pale skin and blonde hair who was already starting to develop. She gave off a cold aura that was very reminiscent of her name. Her outfit consisted of a crop top and a short skirt as well as a custom flak jacket that resembled a girdle. She had a tanto strapped across her lower back and a backpack on her. This was Samui.
The other girl was a petite, dark-skinned girl with light grey hair. She had a very gentle aura to her and she gave off a relaxed feeling. She wore a long grey dress with a slit up and the side so it wouldn't impede her movement. She also had a custom flak jacket that had two straps instead of the usual one so it resembled the ones from another village. This was Mabui.
Darui stared at the pair and felt lucky. Both of them were already pretty but when they grew up, they would be two of the top 10 most beautiful women in the world.
Darui and the girls proceeded to head to the Raikage's office so they could receive their mission for the week along with their sensei. The group quickly made their way through the village as Darui took in the sights yet again.
Their village sat atop various mountains that were connected by bridges. Clouds could be seen all around as the village was so high in the sky. Shinobi were running along the top ropes of the bridges while the citizens walked on the actual bridge, enjoying the cool breeze sweeping over them.
'I got reincarnated into the best village at the best time and into the best body. How lucky can I get?'
As he had just said, Darui was a reincarnator. He arrived in the original Darui's body around 10 years prior when the owner was only 1 year old so he had no need to act any differently or try to take on the old Darui's persona. It also meant that he was able to naturally grow up in the village and learn the ways of a ninja instead of trying to adapt later on in life.
And thanks to that, Darui not only managed to graduate from the academy when he was only 6 but he was also able to become a chunin along with the rest of his team less than a year later. He was on track to become a Jonin. All he needed was a few more A and B-rank missions under his belt to get his promotion.
As Darui and the others approached the large blue building in the center of the village, they saw more shinobi than civilians until there were only shinobi around them. When they finally got into the building, they had to wait in line behind several different teams as well as various jonin and chunin.

After 30 minutes, it was finally their turn to enter the Raikage's office. Few ninjas would come directly to the Raikage to receive their mission, only genin being assigned their first mission or ninja being sent on special missions.
*knock knock*
"Come in," a gruff voice could be heard from the inside.
The 3 chunin entered the office to see a large man sitting behind a desk. His muscular build would make even the likes of Might Guy or Rock Lee seem like weaklings before his muscles. The man wore a black bandana and kumo forehead protector as well as a kumo flak jacket without any clothing underneath. He looked very stoic as he was writing across the various scrolls and signing reports. Next to him was his son who also had a powerful build. The younger man was in his 20s but the wrinkles around his eyes made him seem like he was in his mid or late 30s.
"Sensei. What's the new mission?" Darui asked as he took a seat on the side while grabbing a random book from the self. As soon as he touched the book, A, the 3rd Raikage's son appeared next to him and snatched it from him. Darui glared at A Jr. before turning to face his teacher, A Sr.
The 3rd Raikage saw how the two interacted and shook his head. They got along like cats and dogs but whenever he sent them on a mission together, they were able to take on even S-Rank missions.
"Enough. I have an announcement to make before I give you 3 the mission you're supposed to go on," A Sr said, indicating for Darui to come closer and pay attention.
Darui, Mabui, and Samui stood in front of the desk with their hands at their sides. Even if it was only the 5 of them in the office, they still made sure to behave properly in case anyone walked in or when important matters were being discussed.
"Darui. Because your mission accomplishments have yet to meet the requirements and you lack enough leadership experience, I am unable to promote you to the position of jonin. Also, since we have been lacking in high-rank missions due to various nations being more careful in fear of a war breaking out there is little chance for you to get that experience needed."
A paused and let the words linger in the air. Darui nodded his head. He had already expected this. He figured that he would be like Kakashi, only getting a promotion when the 3rd Great Shinobi War broke out.
'As long as I don't run into Hiruzen, Minato, Orochimaru, or Fugaku, I shouldn't have much to worry about. Sasori is all the way in Suna while the Fence Sitter's main focus is on Konoha. As for Kiri... they are a dangerous opponent and the closest to us after Konoha.'
Darui was thinking about the various threats in the upcoming war. He was confident that he could survive it but there were still many things to consider. As Darui was still thinking about the dangers of the war, he was broken out of his thoughts by A Sr's next words.
"But it is also because of this that I made a request with the Ninja Council. There was a unanimous agreement, even my son, that you meet the requirements to be promoted to Tokubetsu Jonin. Congratulations."
The 3rd Raikage, A Jr, Samui, and Mabui all clapped as they began to congratulate the stunned Darui.
'I fell behind Kakashi when reaching the ranks of Genin and Chunin but I finally beat him. Even if it is only Tokubetsu Jonin, I have still gotten the rank by only the age of 11.'
Mabui pulled off her backpack before pulling out an item and presenting it to Darui with Samui by her side. It was a small scroll that had the kanji for 'Storm' on the wrap.
"This is our gift to you, Darui. Sensei helped us pick it out for you from the village vault, though we had to pay for it ourselves."
Samui looked over and nodded. Even her usual cool expression seemed somewhat anxious as she looked at Darui retrieving the scroll.
Darui took the scroll before opening it. He was shocked. Not only was this a technique for his Kekkei Genkai, Storm Release, but it was also an A-Rank technique. [Storm Release: Light Fang].
He was thinking about taking on some more solo missions so he could afford one in order to better prepare for the upcoming war. An A-Rank technique was something that could change the course of a battle.
Darui dropped the scroll on the ground before throwing an arm over each of the girls and giving them a big hug, shocking both girls. Darui wasn't big on showing off his emotions so him giving them both a hug was something neither had expected.
"Thanks. I'll be sure to learn it properly so I can better protect you guys and the people of the village."
A blush appeared on both of their faces. If they didn't know Darui better, they would have thought that he was confessing to them.
'When will this fool understand a maiden's heart?' Mabui complained in her head
'You're the only person that can get my heart racing, you fool,' Samui rolled her eyes as she tried to get her red skin to go back to normal.
