Axel spent all night practicing the three skills he had just stolen. The challenging part was finding a small knife. The Wind Slicer skill required a weapon to be held in his hand, or it wouldn’t activate. But Axel could have sworn that this morning, when those two men were sparring, Nelson was able to use his ability even though he had lost his sword.
The book from his wrist suddenly appeared in front of him. It opened itself and flipped to the first page. New words appeared at the bottom part.
[Everytime you try to steal a skill, the limits or restrictions will be twice as heavy when you use it.]
“Oh,” Axel murmured.
Axel did not mind that his limitations were twice what they were when the skill was originally used. What he wanted was to master how to use the stolen skills so he could use them against those people.
In the morning, Axel requested to be discharged from the hospital. Since he was healthy, there was no need to stay. The doctor once again asked him questions regarding his body, and he was more persistent than the other day.
His questions were so roundabout that Axel had to be careful, or else the doctor would use his answers to dig out the truth. The doctor’s strange behavior made Axel raise his brow.
‘What’s up with him?’
Axel packed up and settled the documents at the front desk. He didn’t get far when he heard the doctor’s hushed voice in the corner.
A few meters away, Axel saw the familiar slouch of the doctor. He was talking to someone on his phone.
Although he was far, Axel could still faintly hear what he was saying.
“Yes, sir. I double-checked.
“With Mr. Hart’s circumstances, it is impossible for him not to develop any special ability. I have observed his behavior over the past few days, but there was no sign that he was aware of it.
“With Mr. Hart’s traumatic experience, it could be that he is too scared to realize he has an ability. Yes, a human mind is very hard to predict. It could be that Mr. Hart himself is denying that he has an ability, which is why it never manifests. What I can advise, sir, is to observe his behavior in class. Patiently guide him, gain his trust so you can help him realize his powers.

“After all, you are his special ability training instructor.”
Axel’s palm clenched into a fist.
‘So that traitor is keeping an eye on him? Why?’
“Yes, yes. You can send the money to the account number I sent you, as usual. No, no, it was my pleasure helping you. Take care.”
Axel did not linger any longer and stormed towards the exit. He came to the hospital with nothing, so he left with no money or phone on his person.
He didn’t mind. He could walk to his house, which was only five kilometers away from here.
The moment Axel stepped outside, he immediately felt someone’s eyes on him. He looked around but found no one suspicious. He even double-checked the alleys and cars parked on the roadside.
But there was no one.
Axel sighed.
Was he being paranoid?
And yet, he didn’t get far when the feeling of being watched gnawed at his bones.
There was no mistaking it; someone was definitely tailing him. Should he go home directly? But he was alone. What if this person had bad intentions?
Axel stood in place, staring at his feet, clearly at a loss.
Should he go home? Or try to escape…?
Axel remembered he actually had the healer skill. With that, if he was heavily injured, he could just heal himself. If this person intended to kill him, he could always use the Wind Slicer to cut this person in half.
Why not try to find out what this person wants? With a huff, Axel decided to go straight home. Since he didn’t have money, even though he was thirsty and stopped multiple times to look at people selling ice-cold drinks, he dared not approach them.
After almost an hour, he finally arrived home. He slowly locked the gate before scrambling to the kitchen. When he found a fruit knife, he hid it under the cabinet and waited.
This person who followed him straight to his house for almost an hour should be a challenger. What if he suddenly attacked from behind? What if he was so strong, Axel would be killed immediately before he could retaliate?
He fetched the cold water he had stored in his refrigerator and poured himself three cups, quenching his thirst. He forced his fast-beating heart to calm down and waited.
Thirty minutes passed... He waited…
One hour passed… And he still waited in the kitchen without moving much.
After two hours, he finally could not stop his curiosity and peeked at the front gate.
There was no one in the area. The neighborhood he lived in had quite tight security. Because his brother was a living legend and had risen to fame over the last nine years, he had accumulated a huge fortune. It was enough for Axel to live the rest of his life in luxury.
In fact, it was okay for him not to go to work. He could still live without going to school or work. But he still chose to go to school. Because staying in this house would drive him insane.
Axel leaned his body against the wall and heaved a relieved sigh.
He went back inside and climbed up to his brother’s room. Despite his brother’s ashes being left at the front door, his things were left in his room.
If he remembered correctly, those people gave Axel his brother’s bracelet. It was a chain bracelet with a silver sword hanging on it. According to his brother’s memories, this bracelet was actually his S-class weapon he had used for his skill.
