his eyes slowly opened, greeted once more by the now familiar white ceiling, he had been seeing it for so long now that he was no longer disappointed by waking up to it every day

"morning Darkie" he muttered and turned to face his shadow while rubbing his eyes, after a brief moment of silence he then seemed surprised before his expression went back to normal "ah I see, so it's gonna happen today huh. . ." before he knew it the young man was brimming with excitement

finally, something was gonna happen, even though Darkie kept most of the details to himself all he knew was that from today there would be a big change in his routine, that was something to look forward to after staying in this place for so long

sitting up he spent some time to stretch his limbs before staring at the screen for the next 10 or so minutes, after which it was finally time for him to "officially" start his day, the chains binding him extended from the wall giving him some leeway to move around, he approached the opposite side of the room which was where the door stood at

soon a guard came up with a glass in hand and opened the door, he leisurely looked at the young man inside of the cell, not even greeting him.

the glass container had a straw peeking out of it which the guard approached to the inmate's lips, the procedure went as usual, the young man sucked up the liquid before opening his mouth, providing proof that he had taken his meds, the guard nodded in response before closing the door at his face

". . . rude as always tsk." he couldn't help but click his tongue in response as he went back to his corner, his body feeling sore all over " I wonder when my next free period is....oh wait, there's also something to look out to for today, right? but how long will it take ...Darkie's being so secretive" with a sigh he stared at his shadow

"12503...12504" thanks to the insane focus he developed due to his free time in this cell he could count for a whole day straight, he was mentally prepared to do so today to. he had nothing better to do anyway, about 3 hours had trickled by and it was almost time for him to get fed so he'd have to pause soon

well that's what he thought at least, but then, out of the blue an impending sense of doom attacked him

the whole planet felt the tremor as the energy passed through, every single thing, living or not was shaken down to its core temporarily as the energy settled down, the change barely lasted three seconds before the living beings felt their bodies go back to normal, as for objects they would find that their durability had increased by an infinitely negligible amount

back in the cell, a young man was staring wide-eyed for a brief moment as the cell went black, for a short while, but everything quickly returned to normal. the backup systems were truly efficient

"woah...that was scary! I was caught off guard and now my heart's racing man..." he felt like complaining but Darkie didn't look like he was in the mood to listen to it so he restrained himself

after calming his beating heart down realization struck him "huh, wait...that's the big thing?" he then felt immensely disappointed like a kid not receiving presents on his birthday "how am I supposed to benefit from some earthquake huh?" he questionably stared at his friend, could this be a one in a lifetime moment where Darkie found itself wrong? or was he just dumb.
